Hye,

I have a few problems here....

I tried burning an MPEG from acquired from Sony dvd handycam.

I burned it using NERO 6.

When i play it on a VCD player, there is no sound, only the home made movie. biggrin.gif

Thanks...

Is there something i missed.

When i replay the MPEG with WMP , there is sound and pics.

But no sound in the VCD i burned it into ...

THANKS biggrin.gif

VirtualDub or VirtualDubMod can do the job.Choose XviD as the compressor & used it's built in calculator (by inputting the playtime & filesize = 400Mb), you get the bitrate.

But quality will come down after you reduced the size.

go to file and open your video, then click on video tab and choose full processing mode and click on which compressor you want to choose (DivX/Xvid)

Then use 2 pass encodes, with the 2nd encode specify your filesize which is 400MB, then finish already, go to save as and check the first box for both passes. Go to job control and start your encode smile.gif

Okay, this is a brief guide only.Let say you have avi file 700mb.You have XviD codec intalled with Lame mp3 codec also.

1. Launch VirtualDub
2. Open the video file.
3. Go to File > File Information.Write down the info of fps (frame per seconds) and length (you need as input in calculation).
4. Select Video > Full Processing mode
5. Go to Video > Compression
6. Select Xvid.Click configure
7. Click Calc ..(bitrate calculator)
8. Key in size in kbps (409600 = 400mb)
9. Key in video length and fps (which you note earlier)
10. Audio set at 128kbps with CBR (assume the audio in that bitrate or you need to adjust it). Will not discuss here.
11. Just click ok.
12. Go to File > Save as AVI

This guide only for one pass (basic encoding only). This should give you some idea on how to do it.

Do you install the Real Media Alternative codec??

Some addition from keyz, to get the best video quality out of the desired bitrate, use 2 passes. In the save as section, check on the first checkbox and save ur file. Repeat the same steps for pass 2 and save. Then go to File>Job control and start ur encoding job smile.gif Hope that helps

I do that long time ago...I play the video & open the audio recorder, record the audio & convert it into mp3.Direct conversion (I think) is not possible since audio play on one channel only, not two channel (as normal stereo).
