how do you manage your child's food? like infant powder and stuff?

Most security checks have exemptions for 'reasonable' amount of baby formula or other liquid when traveling with infant.

depend on age. u can bring toddler booster seat but not necessary.
the carrier/stroller only until bridge. they will keep it stored (free!)

its easier to let baby sleep across 2 seats on parents lap actually.

bring lots of distraction. chew toys to lessen effect of pressure.
bring ipad, books, playdough.. etc etc.

btw, i dont trust the hot water on board. its not 100C so not considered sterile.

Travel to NZ with 1.5 yr old via Air New Zealand.

Like other /k said, bassinet is a waste of money. At least u get the leg room. in the end sleep on mummy and me rotate.

hot water flight attendant can provide. can bring diapers and milk power in small amount.

13 hours transit from SG. lucky she sleep like adult from 9pm-7am no make fuss to other passengers. lots of kiwis very understanding on flight.

DO NOT TAKE UR INFANT ON BOARD IF UR KID IS HARD TO HANDLE

DONT MAKE LIFE MISERABLE FOR EVERYONE

Travel to NZ with 1.5 yr old via Air New Zealand.

Like other /k said, bassinet is a waste of money. At least u get the leg room. in the end sleep on mummy and me rotate.

hot water flight attendant can provide. can bring diapers and milk power in small amount.

13 hours transit from SG. lucky she sleep like adult from 9pm-7am no make fuss to other passengers. lots of kiwis very understanding on flight.

infant are not used to drink outside water, that's why security allow u to bring your own water in.
if u bringing the stroller, make sure u tell the operator during the first checkin. because they need to tag it.

no issue with MAS, just came back travelling europe. took MAS from KL, and easyjet to Italy & paris.

they ok with hot water. small portion of baby food, powder, etc not an issue. Immigration will ask lot of question, but for baby they will be lenient, make sure the baby is with you that time.

took bassinet if possible, bigger leg area, baby can play around in front of you.

Flew with 2 kids under 3yo return trip to USA.

1. Bring those baby food in sealed jars. Sometimes, the airline themselves have some too.

2. Ask for left or right most row of seats. In our case we got 3 in a row. Take the blanket and spread on the floor, also bring pillows or ask for pillows to cover sharp corners. Let them play/lie/sleep on the floor when no turbulence.

3. Diaper cleaning is messy. Bring spare clothes.

4. Bring QUIET toys.

to my knowledge thats true and that you cannot book that seat. only one parent can sit there for the baby because only certain number of seats are allocated for infants which will include infant oxygen mask & lifejacket. but if not many infants then they will allocate you that seat.

during takeoff / landing, where we usually experince pressure difference in our ears...

give baby / infants something to drink / chew. as the act of swallowing will balance out the pressure in our ears.

i give good branded chocolates to my kids. chocolates hv endorphins, that helps ppl to relax. usually i go for cadbury / ferrero .

for my 6 years old i always hv a back pack, with her, she carry it herself. the bag is filled with coloring books and lotsa crayons and colored pencils.

as for my 3 years old. his back pack is filled with his toys....

the best is if you go early to the airport or try to call ahead i think within 48 or 24 hours. then you might be able to book that seat. last time i had to sit damn far from my wife. damn inconvenient. especially cause ears dont work so well hard to call each other hahahah. can try. i succeeded to book on Cathay. But not on MAS. but only within the 48 hr window

apparently there is no number given to the security for this. its based on their judgement on 'adequate' amount for the trip. so if going 2 hour flight and you bring 1ltr they will probably reject it. but if going 13 hour flight maybe they will let it pass. but anyways the airline got boiling water. and normally they have some foods also, i always got those heinz jars. normally they will give 2 per meal... dragon air gave us 1ltr milk too rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

i called MAS directly to book and i even booked the seats for my parents with credit card payment. the operator said will sent email for confirmation but didn't. after 3 weeks i called again but always in queue so i dropped another email in their general email address for reminder but still havent receive any confirmation. i also dont think there was any charges to my credit card for the seat booking. sweat.gif

Thats weird. I have been thru dubai and indon too but never had problem either.
Since u have been to aussie before, i think you know they are very particular on the item u bring in. Just declare it but they wont inspect if with kids.

If u r with infant, u can bring Liquid on board. As long as reasonable quantity. U can double check with the airline or airports involved if unsure but I had no problems bringing in bottled breastmilk (declared) or even plain hot water in thermos flasks...

Generally a pain to travel with infants... Two thirds of luggage is all their things tongue.gif

Hahah. No real life saving tips. Except that you gotta have a thick face. A lot if people don't like having infants on the plane. So sometimes when they look at you with a pissed off face, I look back with a 'fk u' face. Haha. Its as if I enjoy the baby crying or something. Haha. And you of course gotta be polite with all the crew and show off the baby. If not, you won't get the good service hahah.

And make sure you wipe down the seat... friggin dirty man...

Its not mas sux you lousy only because everytime i order special item like bassinets and meal they sure send me black and white confirmation. Calling as a reminder is like a pondan telling everybody he is a girl but no prove. For once do something properly and thoroughly.

I travel with them and always get my prefered seat and booked meal that i ordered. You can also get an confirmation slip at the check in counter. Did you do that or do you think that you have already called to remind them are sufficient??

No prob. Sometimes travel on plane cannot rely on hot water on board alone as u may need thermos with hot water suddenly at any time when bb hungry. Most airlines people very understanding when there is infant around.

Lol yah, bring so many things also in the end can't do much of your own things during holiday haha

actually i heard that they only can allocate for a single parent to sit with the bassinet. is it true? maybe in the case of full flight?

No such thing as single parent only. Tips on getting those seats are. Check in early. I always check in early at least 3 hours ahead and request the seats for me and spouse. Always succeed. Tips given by the handling staff. Works everytime.

What so special about SKX007?

user posted image

Just back from Myanmar, got a baby, infant I shall say, sit beside me, with his china single mother.
They got 2 seats but instead sit close to me & touch touch me all time, WTF.
The mother brought milk powder, hot water jug filled with hot water. Make milk on board.
MAS MH741 today.

Edit: the blue jean is the mother, I am black pant, I has no relationship whatsoever with them.

why so marah? i've been flying MAS for 30 years. and comparing service from then and now i can say with certainty that it now sucks and has fallen far far far from what it used to be. compared with other airlines its more or less the same or worse. calling to book a bassinet is normal procedure. thats what i do for all my flights and thats why they have that service... rclxub.gif normally they will send a confirmation if the CS does their job. MAS however did try to charge me if i wanted to book a seat next to my wife which was pretty fkd up. so had to call them 48 hours before flight and book. only then its free....

yeah you can bring wipes on board no problem. normally when i fly to and from beijing ill bring: wipes, diapers, biscuits, home cooked baby food, toys (non-electronic), books, 1ltr water thermos (w/water), 1 baby water bottle (w/water), and extra clothes. phew... so far no issues through customs for Cathay, MAS and Dragon Air.

yeah. just go into any cafe (hopefully can see the machine) and ask for boiled water. normally they will have a commercial boiler. dont think its filtered though. cafe's do filter but normally that is water that goes straight into their espresso machine thing which has softeners and all that stuff.

Yes the food and beverage standard has fallen..i agree but on service provided on board for me at least still good. i also called for bassinet and without fail managed to get them why is your case different??? The way you emphasized the needs to have the bassinet point is very important... My other post mentioned you have to check in early to get those seats...at least 3 hours early..What time did you check in?? Remember>>>>Thos who check in physically gets priority...Booking seats for my family never had an issue...we get to seat together in one row.....Im not sure about your case but no Extra payment charged..But when u called to reserved seats..there are charges to reserved your preferred seats...but if u want to avoid those charges...Check in early.....Check in time must be early...My meals are pre booked via the service called CHEF on Called menu.they have at least 12 choices to choose from and again every single time delivered as promised.

So for me..the key is to check in early....because if u check in late and others already checked in before you and if they have a baby they will get the priority...even if you pre booked the seat via phone because the most important thing is CHECKED in not booking....confirm passenger is more important than booking without physical present...thats what the ground people told me.

not my case larrr. the other fella...

for me also no issue when booking seat with bassinet, but my son never slept in the bassinet more than 20 mins... so after the 2nd time we just stopped requesting. i guess plane vibration or ear issue or whatever i dunno. but still wanted that seat as near to toilet. the main issue at that time but just not allowed to book the seat next to it for myself without paying RM150+ at that time..and then even though check in early that seat gone liao. so in the end my waifu sit at bassinet seat and i sit in the row behind. but in the end kinda like blessing as it was easier to get up and get stuff hahaha. the food thing, i never booked as never an issue. i dont think they will simply override a booked seat just because passenger checked in early. if so that would really be terrible service.... i would really maki them kao kao on the spot if they did that to me.

but on MAS, i really feel sad. it used to be the best. if i'm flying alone normally will still try to support hahaha. but my waifu hates mas... always got some issue hahaha. seat rosak lah. tv swivel thing keeps falling down lah (they had to tape it and shove papers in the armrest doh.gif), haha. hope to see it rise again! thumbup.gif

why so marah? i've been flying MAS for 30 years. and comparing service from then and now i can say with certainty that it now sucks and has fallen far far far from what it used to be. compared with other airlines its more or less the same or worse. calling to book a bassinet is normal procedure. thats what i do for all my flights and thats why they have that service...  rclxub.gif  normally they will send a confirmation if the CS does their job.
*
ei... meaning you cannot sit at the bassinet area with your wife if you don't pay extra? blink.gif

thanks for the list bro thumbup.gif

not my case larrr. the other fella...

for me also no issue when booking seat with bassinet, but my son never slept in the bassinet more than 20 mins... so after the 2nd time we just stopped requesting.  i guess plane vibration or ear issue or whatever i dunno. but still wanted that seat as near to toilet. the main issue at that time but just not allowed to book the seat next to it for myself without paying RM150+ at that time..and then even though check in early that seat gone liao. so in the end my waifu sit at bassinet seat and i sit in the row behind. but in the end kinda like blessing as it was easier to get up and get stuff hahaha. the food thing, i never booked as never an issue. i dont think they will simply override a booked seat just because passenger checked in early. if so that would really be terrible service.... i would really maki them kao kao on the spot if they did that to me.

but on MAS, i really feel sad. it used to be the best. if i'm flying alone normally will still try to support hahaha. but my waifu hates mas... always got some issue hahaha. seat rosak lah. tv swivel thing keeps falling down lah (they had to tape it and shove papers in the armrest doh.gif), haha. hope to see it rise again!  thumbup.gif

its like saying after buying cinema tickets online but the seats given to those that queue and buy tickets. doesn't make sense. if its true so why operator ask for the credit card when booking?

my reasoning is that the MAS operator will not reserve the seats to me now until they stop receiving purchases or the plane is full. that way they can allocate the seats easier without having to change seats again and again. this is why from some explanations here and what i heard from others is to call one day before departure or check in earlier because by then they would have pretty much sold out all the seats or no new passengers buying anymore tickets.

anyway my flight is still another 3 weeks later and i requested the bassinet a month ago but still. they could've earn my money just like that and they not doing it? didn't know MAS is doing so well financially.

under 24 months.

ya looks like it and not sure if you been calling MAS recently. actually there are no options to select or request for special needs. their options are all for purchasing ticket and checking of flight and its always on queue. they also have a new function where you can leave your phone and they will return call without loosing the queue number but i have left my number for 3 days and still no one called me back. laugh.gif

i really think its just bad hospitality service.

I've seen at least 3 times booking were override because of late check in....the couple argued at the boarding counter and on the plane....kesian those crew...dont know anything but got bombasted by the passenger....why sometimes people dont know how to channel their complaints to the right person....the cabin crew is not the one who change the seats.

I always travel business or first...and the service is good....food so so but on certain flights for example..korea and japan food is gooding....always go for the chef on call menu for salmon or braised Lamb shank...the braised beef ribs also good..... thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

Been travelling with my kids since they were a month old. Feeding items including water and hot water is permissible, Just put all the baby needs in one bag so they can inspect only that bag.

Stroller is another thing. Some airlines will pick up from you at the aircraft door or departure lounge and return when you leave the aircraft. Some will just send it through with your luggage and you pick up at the carousel which is a pain.

Been lucky that my kids don't seem to be troubled by changes in air pressure or turbulence. They only make noise when they're hungry.

remember to bring pacifier, bolster, milk bottle, for milking your baby before taking off so they are relief from pressure on their ear.

Best if you can make them sleep before plane taking off and landing if possible and good luck.

I travel with Etihad, they even with in-flight nanny
If you want to warm up food, their first class cabin crew can help you to warm up using microwave.
(We sat in economy class)

Airline lik eunited airway will not provide warm water also, because they scare if you toddler burn with the warm water passed to you, they can get sued. Previous cases make not willing to help

hahah. i think hes just built tough ahhaah and we dont manja him. for instance if hes walking and fall down we just stand there and let him recover himself. 8/10 times he just gets up and moves on. no picking him up and kissing him better and stuff. only if he really hurts himself he will get that. hahah. the wife tries but its harder for her. but yeah. at least with me he knows he cant get away with stuff as im the garang one, even if he cries. just some tough love. just need to make sure they know you are the boss i guess.... i dunno. seems to be working. hmm.gif hmm.gif

ohh... you getting ready for your trip soon???

hheheheh...

my trip was thumbup.gif i guess.... regarding about the bassinet... mas didnt return my call or anything but when i check in at the counter, they still allocated a bassinet for me. so its great but trust me the bassinet cannot use. my baby is consider small size yet almost the same length as the bassinet... and its kinda dangerous because its shallow.. my baby tried to roll over or stand up or sit and she is like almost falling out of the bassinet. there is a safety belt but my baby wouldn't let me buckle her so i had that problem of her almost falling off the bassinet.

my advise is take the bassinet because you will enjoy a larger space and you can let you baby crawl around on the ground. thumbsup.gif

i basically carried my baby the entire journey icon_question.gif . when she dont sleep i walk around the airplane go kao lui.... tongue.gif when she is sleeping, she slept on my body...

there are no issues with her milk powder or hot water... we went right through.. icon_rolleyes.gif

really should bring extra cloth or tee if you taking care of baby.. my baby puke.gif on me when on the way back.. my jeans got the most of it but i just wiped it off and besides its jeans... not that i would have spare to change it... so had to bare with the smell a little.

the most scariest part was my baby cry.gif almost every time in the public transport... train, bus and also while on our way back in airplane. not sure why and theres where you get all those stares.

overall good experience la but the place we went was challenging because it was cold weather.

you can basically forget about all your itineraries if you have one. at most only can visit one and if lucky can visit another half of another location laugh.gif

we are happy to have selected airbnb for accommodations because our units have kitchen. so we can prepare food for baby. i visited so many grocery stores to buy food and this is where i understand why in overseas some people really have such better quality food and healthier life... no kidding... their vege and meat look so beautiful and fresh.... felt like buying everything back to cook... laugh.gif

ohh still got a long time....

ahahah just bring your baby along to the end of the plane and you will have stewardess entertaining you... if lucky you will have some passengers joining you too... laugh.gif bini resting in her seat...

you are on F&E or on tour? if F&E very convenient la... no need to worry... actually we took a bit longer because we need to prepare food, express milk and feed baby milk... so that took up the time else we would be able to leave home much earlier everyday. besides the weather is soo cold in the morning so delay a little is also good.... the worse part about cold country was very hard to change diaper. you gotta find places where it is comfortable for the baby to remove layers of clothings.

baby only 1y.o.

by that time, he's 1.5 yo, hopefully easier laugh.gif

then maybe your girl is like mine, my boy always stick to me, don't know why sweat.gif

free and easy, yeah, agree, those are time consuming, since he's too small, most outside food isn't suitable and need to make him full first before can go out tongue.gif

eh... true also... diaper change is inconvenient...

thanks so much for the info bro smile.gif
