my motto is to try the livecd first if it is available for your chosen distro.
if that runs without a hitch you don't need to worry when you install it.

for my setup FF is better than GG when it comes to hibernation, screensavers, and uptime.

my GG like hang after a few hours leaving it alone and cannot hibernate properly.

but FF got an irritating keystuck problem sad.gif

Then there's shouldn't be problem..
As wut i noe.. LinuxMint is packaged with all the proprietary driver + software..
i finnaly got my laptop ACER Aspire 5500 Series Notebook to work with LinuxMint where the main constraint was the ATi graphic card.
beside the point.. i strongly recommendLinuxMint.. there won't be any problem in updating the software as it's using ubuntu software repos..

Anyway, please correct me if i m wrong. Tq.

dude! read the thread before posting.

i'm using IBM Thinkpad R40, running OpenSuSE 10.2.
going to change to R61 soon. and yes, OpenSuSE10.2 runs without problem with R61.

I'm running LinuxMint 4.0 on IBM Thinkpad R60. everything works ok. graphic card (intel) supported.
Compiz running well with all the bell and whistle.
function keys mostly work except the lcd/projector F7. You need to modify the xconfig
to make 2nd monitor (projector) work. Plenty of ubuntu site explain about this.

I've run older Mint (2.0-3.0) and Opensuse 10.1-10.2 all running ok.
