Arsenal grateful to have Petr Cech's gloves returned... after they were wrongly sent to Chelsea

Goalkeeper's former club were surprised to receive Cech's gloves for Sunday’s London derby from sportswear manufacturer Adidas

despite the fact he has been at the Emirates for over six months, it seems Adidas are yet to fully get their heads around the idea that Cech is now keeping clean sheets for Arsenal.
Chelsea officials were this week amused to find that Cech’s Adidas gloves were sent to their Cobham training ground, rather than going to Arsenal’s London Colney base.

The team that he is playing for Napoli is top of the league in Serie A. And also Higuain is top scorer too in Serie A. brows.gif

But then again, Serie A is a slow pace league, duno if Higuain will do well in PL anot. Good thing is Higuain has proven himself in 2 league dy, La Liga and Serie A.

Chelsea ready to sanction Patrick Bamford sale with buy-back option

The latest team linked with the 22-year-old is another Premier League club, Norwich City, who returned to the big time last season after a year in the Championship. So claims the Mirror.

The interesting bit here is that the Canaries are apparently not as keen on borrowing Bamfordinho as they are on buying him outright, and apparently Chelsea are willing to acquiesce as long as we get to insert a buy-back clause. Buy-back clauses are a hot topic suddenly*, but if Norwich do agree to such an arrangement, it makes perfect sense for Chelsea to agree as well. It's like a loan, but better!

No longer indispensable, midfielder 'has already decided' to leave Chelsea - report
QUOTE
With his confidence affected, Matic is understood to be finding it difficult to get himself back to his desired level and is considering whether a change of club is what his career needs.

Team-mates believe he has already decided to leave in the summer though much could yet depend on Chelsea's next managerial appointment.

Chelsea transfer news and rumours: Pedro set for exit; Alexandro Pato close to £7m move; Romelu Lukaku oversight

The latest transfer rumours and news to emerge from Stamford Bridge this morning
Samuel Stevens 16 hours ago

Spain winger Pedro wants to leave Chelsea in a last ditch attempt to rescue his career, after a torrid start to life in English football, according to the Daily Star. The 28-year-old signed from Barcelona last summer for £21m but has been unable to prevent a worrying slide in fortunes at the London club. He has scored just three goals in 24 games and was hauled off at half-time by interim boss Guus Hiddink after gifting West Bromwich Albion a goal in the 2-2 Premier League draw at Stamford Bridge last week.

The Dutchman, however, is believed to be keen on keeping Pedro on his books in the capital but the club's hierarchy, the report says, have other ideas. Valencia and Villarreal have shown an interest in the Spaniard in the past and may be tempted to try their luck this January if such rumours persist.

Chelsea are hopeful of completing a cut-price deal for Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato in the coming days, according to several reports this morning. The 26-year-old is expected to sign a three-year deal at Stamford Bridge after the Blues agreed a fee in the region of £7m with Corinthians. The Daily Mail suggest former AC Milan forward Pato is desperate to secure a return to European football - and is prepared to take a pay-cut in order to do so.

Hiddink has prioritised a new striker this January as Diego Costa struggles to find his form of old while Loic Remy is continually linked with a move away. Chelsea held talks with Pato's representatives and Corinthians on Tuesday night with Marina Granovskaia - club director and adviser to owner Roman Abramovich – said to be instrumental in negotiations. If the terms can be finalised, the deal should go through before the end of the week – possibly in time for the trip to Arsenal.

Blues target Saido Berahino remains in the dark about his West Bromwich Albion future amid further interest from Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Stoke City. The 22-year-old allegedly wants to leave the Hawthorns but is facing an uphill battle to persuade the West Midlands club to allow it. Spurs appeared the favourites to sign Berahino last summer but a disagreement between the two chairmen scuppered the deal.

Newcastle, eying a striker to spearhead their relegation battle, now appear to have stolen a march on their rivals, but the Blues are monitoring the situation. The Baggies, according to the Daily Mirror, would prefer to do business with either Chelsea or Newcastle to avoid sending their prized asset to White Hart Lane. Despite the former England under-21s star having just 18 months left on his contract, West Brom are determined to remain in charge of the situation and have shown their willingness to turn down big-money offers in the past.

If Romelu Lukaku, linked with a £50m move to Manchester United, leaves Everton next summer, Chelsea will be entitled to nothing after failing to agree a sell-on clause for the Belgian. The Times report this morning that the 22-year-old, whom the Toffees value at £60m, is free to move in future without worrying about a chunk of his transfer fee going back to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues hierarchy will come under intense scrutiny over the decision not to invest in the future when they sold Lukaku two years ago. According to the report, the Londoners made the same mistake with Kevin De Bruyne’s 2014 switch to Wolsfburg – losing out on a part of the £55m paid for the forward by Manchester City last summer. The move to let the pair leave Stamford Bridge is believed to have been a contributing factor behind the decision to sack Jose Mourinho last month.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp set to hijack Chelsea's move for Alex Teixeira

The Reds have launched a £24.6m bid for Shakhtar Donetsk's attacking midfielder as boss Jurgen Klopp looks to bolster his attacking options.

Chelsea thought they were in pole position.

But Anfield chief executive Ian Ayre flew to Florida to hold face-to-face meetings with Shakhtar, who are in America for winter training.

Ayre is believed to have flown back to Merseyside last night but discussions are continuing.

Shakhtar president Rinat Akhmetov is not keen to let the Brazil attacker go in this transfer window unless their valuation of around £38m is met.

But Liverpool want to add more goals to their side after just 25 in 22 Premier League game so far.

And Teixeira, 26, has scored 22 goals in 15 league appearances so far this season with three strikes in six Champions League outings.

The Reds are hoping they can strike a deal with Shakhtar before the transfer window closes in 10 days' time.

Teixeira missed Shakhtar's 3-2 friendly defeat by Corinthians on Wednesday with reports of the Brazil star suffering a hamstring injury.

But Shakhtar boss Mircea Lucescu said: "I decided not to risk it and rest him."

Teixeira, who joined Shakhtar in 2010 from Vasco da Gama, is interested in a move to the Premier League.

Last month he said: "Playing in the Premier League is a personal dream, it's the best championship in the world."

Arsene Wenger: Arsenal will battle Chelsea ace Diego Costa... but we won't be wound up
ARSENE WENGER has warned his men to stay calm in their "battle" with Diego Costa.

By David Woods, Chief Football Writer / Published 22nd January 2016

Arsenal centre back Gabriel was sent off for a kick at the hothead striker when the Gunners lost 2-0 at Chelsea in September.

Gabriel's red-card was later rescinded, while Costa was instead banned for three games for shoving Laurent Koscielny in the face.

But with round two on Sunday, if Costa recovers from a shin injury, Wenger said: "We have to be prepared for a battle because Costa gives you a fight.

"After that, it's down to the referee."

Wenger was angry with Gabriel for allowing himself to be wound-up by Costa.

And the Frenchman confirmed he has spoken to his league leaders about keeping their cool when the challenges start flying.

"We are convinced that our points and our record are linked to our discipline," he said.

"On the day we suffered because we were a bit unlucky with the decision of the referee.

"I believe we have a very strong record on the disciplinary front in the Premier League, and we want to maintain it."

Mark Clattenburg - who allowed Costa to go unpunished, despite admitting he saw the Spain star put his studs into the chest of Liverpool's Martin Skrtel in November - will be in charge at The Emirates.

Arsenal are set to welcome back both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.

"The good news is that Ozil certainly will be available," Wenger said.

"Sanchez, the next two days will be decisive but, this time, I think he will make it for selection. Francis Coquelin is back in full training today, ahead of schedule.

"A few players are coming back. We're going into a very important period now, so to have people available is important for us.

"We have done extremely well during all this period when we had big players out, but it's just a good opportunity to have everybody back."

Wenger has ruled out a temporary ground share with local rivals Tottenham, while their new stadium is built.

And he has also warned Chelsea of the perils of playing at Wembley, while Stamford Bridge is redeveloped.

The Gunners played their 1998-99 Champions League games at Wembley and Wenger said: "It was a nightmare. In hindsight it was the wrong decision.

"At the time at Highbury we had to cut 5,000 seats. We decided to go to Wembley, but we didn't feel at home."

Opportunities beckon for youngsters...

Pedro, Matic, Oscar and Hazard set to leave the bridge...

Mikel should step up to fill in for Matic... if not RLC.... Kenedy and Traore to fill in for Oscar, Pedro and Hazard... Yeah, the midfield department is thinner now... We can always recall our loanees... recall Moses please...

one sad news is Ramirez set to leave... we need another utility player like him...

If Oscar, Pedro, Matic and Hazard leave we seriously need a creative player besides Cesc... Cesc is proven to be more effective as a deeper lying midfielder rather than an attacking midfielder... can Pato play as AM?
