If ur into flashing, Xiaomi phones now are very hard to unlock, u have to apply for it. Also there's no aosp or Cm rom for mi5 yet. I heard miui 7 takes up 1.5gb ram startup, stock Android on my nexus 5 takes up 600mb.
I'm not bashing mi5, it's good value, by all means go for it if you're okay with miui.
*
haha, shit, i never even bothered to flash at all, it wasn't lag like i use S2 last time.

oh, I didn't even flash my Mi3. still doing fine, drop many many times, dent here and there. Xiaomi is really a durable phone LOL. you planning to get Mi5 pro version black?
*
haha, my mi3 also like yours, many, my dent, but it works fine. my friend s4 drop from lower height got crack. the only reason why i want to update is because want more space (spotify is killer on memory GB)

QUOTE(uncleben @ May 25 2016, 05:53 PM)
yup.. if not available in malaysia then 64gb is good enough maybe.. using 16gb nowdays not enough.. spotify alone uses 5gb of space..
WOW! your mi3 still uses miui? no issues on ram management?
*
mine is ok

I am not sure if android updates are like it's where each update will slow down your device.

She only use it for sms, WhatsApp, calls. My current android phone lags occasionally until I reboot it. Don't know why. rclxub.gif no games. Using it for WhatsApp, browsing, sms, calls, and taking pictures. Looking for official Mi5 to replace my existing phine. Hope it have black as white looks ugly plus the black line.vmad.gif mad.gif

if you planning to wait for M'sia one i think need maybe 3-4 months more, like when Mi3 came in. Btw, the black line isn't dat obvious if you never focus at it, which I didn't notice it much.

Dont think 64gb is gonna come at all even India.
My friend loves his oneplus one, dropped many times even on tar road and its like a tank. Great built quality and the OS is cyanogen so its still smooth, hes gonna buy oneplus 3. If ur using Miui now, seriously give stock android or cyanogen a try, you'll love how smooth it is. I would only buy Mi5 if theres a chance to flash stock aosp.
*
exact opposite to my friends OP1.. drop just 50cm and the digitizer is out, change new digitizer then put in pocket somehow got crack at screen and touchscreen not working, change new screen using till now.. he even bought a spare screen in case happen again.. haha

QUOTE(Tiaso @ May 25 2016, 07:54 PM)
oh? my friend dropped his oneplus one at 2nd day he got it, dead straight, luckily somehow he cheat warranty and get back a new one. hmm, can't mi5 flash stock aosp? I think i should try Cyanogen a try then, i used to use it when i use S2
*
yup.. cyanogen is very gooding compare to miui.. plus the themes for cynogen is better to me than miui themes..

But it doesn't have the feature that I want. Able to on the phone even when you have off the phone or ring the alarm when the phone is off.

Somehow using global ROM, the battery is very consuming, 1.6gb RAM is consumed by MIUI. Maybe one of the reason is I on 4g the whole time. However, it's understandable that global ROM has been removed from MIUI website because its not stable, I guess I should flash back to MIUI China first. And one thing, the battery charging is superbly fast, though it's kinda hot when charging.

I tried using both my Mi3 and Mi5 camera in my room with low lighting. My Mi3 appear on my phone as pretty bright, but Mi5 more to yellowish, don't understand why.

Fingerprint scanner is fast and easy (though its not exactly convenient for the need to press the home button to activate it.). Phone is light and nicely curved, the sides design is similar to Note 5 though biggrin.gif White colour looks very nice and clean, hope i doesn't scratch it that soon though I already put a case on.

Overall, the phone is pretty good for me now. Take note that it's a budget phone to begin with, don't compare exactly with S7 or Iphone and you're all good. rclxms.gif

I think because someone mentioned that miui will keep trying to connect to my server. Will need to disable it/sign out then the battery life will be good.

same is my thinking... haha... the Stock MIUI SUCKSSSSS.... takes too much ram...
although it is packed with some feature... but it takes too much RAM and hamper multitasking...

2nd on your previous post... hard to unlock and troublesome...
Mi5 structure is weak, careful... some one manage to bend this... of course Nexus 6P also...
with 2nd hand price of Nexus 6P around RM1.8k vs AP Mi5 RM1.5k i choosen Nexus...
cos of the Stock ROM... happy with it now although the battery doesn't last long, SOT ~4hrs...
thats why i choose Nexus 6P instead of this, 2ndly is Nexus 6P is officially available here...
so now waiting for HTC 10 or Mi5... might just jump to HTC 10...

yup it is a pretty decent priced phone... but the phone structure is weak....
but with that price on SD820... no complaints... still i recommend ppl to get more RAM with MIUI...
3GB is barely enough and 4GB is sweet... cos on stock it already eat up 1.5GB on start up...

Funny thing about China phones are they never bother to upgrade the Android as per Google 18 months update mandatory. If Google proceeds with listing out the bad manufacturers list, the top section surely will be filled by China brands.

Just surf over MIUI Global site, you can see their game.
