Using mobile data...no wonder I don't have problem... Haha...

Wonder how many Xiaomi sell Mi5 on the 1st March?
*
who say don have problem... it affects all the network which need to pull data from US...
if the cables have problem then all kind of network, cos it is the main cables that connect Asia to US...

there are lags compare to previously, even with my mobile network or fiber at home also have lags...

If you have QHD phone now.. would u feel its a downgrade when change mi5? What u guys think...
*
to be frank, it depends... i used Mi3, Pantech R3 and others Full HD screen b4..
but now i'm using HTC Desire 820s which only has HD... does i feel low quality???
answer is no... it depends on the panel's quality...
i feel Lenovo P70 screen is worst than my current phone...
put side by side then you will realise, i use APP to compare not photo... so more fair...

so i sold it to my bro which use it happily as he upgrade from Lenovo A series...

if they launch near to RM2k also quite hard to sell now...
but product below RM1.5k is really doing well now, because ppl can sell much easier on 2nd hand...

I would wish Mi5 is in the range of Rm700-rm800 like mi3. Mi5 at rm1500 is ~2x the price of mi3
*
i don hope it will around that range...
i'm more optimistic, i hope it will be below RM1.2k haha...
if Redmi Note3 SD version next month really ~RM800 for 3GB ram + 32GB version...
then it might be true... Mi5 could be around 1.5k after conversion...

Xiaomi is slowly increasing their price. The only good thing about xiaomi is the
1) low price
2) the ability to set alarm and let it ring even when phone is off
3) good battery life
4)  decent camera

If they Increase it to Samsung/Sony price, not going to buy their product anymore. Look at their powerbank. Rm36 when launch. Now already RM59. Better get pineng. Cheaper and more or less same quality
*
agree on this... but really do hope they do not follow on others trend...
like Lenovo still in the midrange of price, although their system is buggy and lack of innovative...

but i have not give up hope on xiaomi products... like i did not touch any samsung product now...

QUOTE(loneboy62 @ Mar 11 2016, 10:18 AM)
RM1.5 for 64GB Mi5 still acceptable, right now currency is really weak so can't do much. However if more than 1.5k, that is really expensive price tag, no point to get Xiaomi anymore.

By the way, their camera always in "high spec", but quality is not that good.
*
well i prefer it to be around RM1.3k... to be frank... RM1.5k is a lil too much...
some of the components quality for XM also not really that reliable...
used Mi3 and Redmi1 frustrated of the system, taken too much ram...
but if you have 3G ram it will be slightly better but 4G ram is perfectly fine with their system...

when i saw the system taken 10GB of storage in the Redmi Note 3 SD phone i were surprise...
i hope that international version will be much lesser...
Finger crossed, waiting for India ppl to review it... smile.gif
if Mi5 also like that, i might give XM a skip as the system too much bloatware and nt optimised...
I'm looking at Mi5 or Redmi Note3

some might argue on this but i do not have much problem on Sony and HTC running with 2G ram compare to XM mi3... and also Sony old Dual Core Xperia SP vs Redmi1 last time... MIUI just hog the RAM, hence multitask is not as per my expectation...

Thats a moded rom most probably takes up more space but generally Miui can take up 3-5gbs
*
as per the review given by bro fishmango...
the storage still have around 26GB to play around... hmmm seems reasonable for me...
and i don mind with that space... my X-Mi3 also 16GB only haha...

regarding on the verge review...
8.1 but that score is rescue by the performance of the phone...
but he mention design n camera is some what average and if you take out the Ecosystem and Call quality the score falls below 8.0 already... smile.gif

i agree that sometime you really need to go and test the unit before buying a phone...
last Sept i bought my wife a Sony M4 Aqua... but in the end, now she is using iPhone6 now... because she is not present when i buy the sony and she only feel the phone one time and she say it should be ok... Poor sony now is in the box and waiting for new owner...
i would like to press and test out any phone before i buy... lets look look see see...
confirm the performance or quality before i swap my cash with the dealer... haha...
might end up a lot of ppl aiming for Mi5 change target to Redmi Note3 haha...

might be... i saw my agent One+2 also not bad... thinking on that also... Hmmm...
but i limit myself to below 1.5k and i'm considering to get below 5.5" in screen size as it is too big sometimes... maybe will play waiting game for a while now... 2nd time within 5 yrs i can hold on a phone for more than 1 yr... haha... Mi3 is my 1st and now after that HTC 820s is another... too many model is pushing out but there isnt anything to shout out between them now... after Mi3 there isnt any Mid-High range phone with Mi3 quality, spec and price at the moment...

QUOTE(Killmeplsok @ Mar 18 2016, 09:10 AM)
That's hard to say, there's a lot of factors to consider when it comes to binning, power consumption is not the only one.
*
agree there is a lots or criteria which makes the binning on the testing result...
it might be temperature or Max and Min Ghz during certain temperature...

if any one interested to know the temperature of the testing... since i'm a change kit supplier last time..
the temperature test have 3 stage... Ambient, Hot (80~150C) and Cold (0~-40C)... depends on customer requirement... that is a extreme test and it need the chipset to be soak in the condition for almost 1min and above... then see what aspect they want to segregate the binning... hard to tell...

any test program designer or product engineer here???

so i would say it really hard to differentiate the performance just a mere 0.3Ghz different and since it is build on the same wafer... and also if they pick the wafer before apply onto the module they also pick according to the binning... please do not think that bin 2 wafer means you can get bin 2 device also... most of the time you will have a yield, and most of the bin 1 wafer after assemble they only get about 70% (sometimes) which end up with bin 1 end product... the lower the yield the more expensive is the Bin1, all depends on a lot of things...

and according to the price of all phone chipset is not expensive at all... my customer handle some chipset which cost at much at USD300 per pc...

sorry too long... so don make assumption... thanks...

ok maybe i talk too much... others is technical binning of chipset during wafer stage and assembly test...

so do not assume that the product you get is lower spec... expect they have a different part number... normally the manufacturer will differentiate binning by part number...

i'm not expert... just if everyone want to confirm if the 32GB chipset is a lower grade then they might need to see if there is different Kernel used or something like that...
then the most accurate is open the phone up and look at the engraving on the chipset itself... mostly the part number will tell you something about that... smile.gif

for me it is much better than DIRT UGLY S7...
stupid curve edge which not helping much haha... expensive price...
poor in quality of components and sucks in service or warranty claims...

i don think it wins... haha...
for better phone for quality i feel iPhone IOS and Microsoft Lumia are more stable...
for the money with that low quality i prefer to fork out half of the money for this phone...
u can buy 1 while i can buy 2 bangwall.gif
same spec and performance excluding special features...

lets hope Samsung isnt same as Nokia after 20 yrs bye.gif
