Yeah, I just upgrade to windows 10 from my old laptop, and free activate win10 with assistive technology.

However somehow I compare my new laptop (currently anniversay update ver). It is slightly different from assistive technology.

My next ques is it any external link to download the iso file (assistive ver)?

It is kinda slow if I format my old laptop, need to redownload the assistive version by this screamyx line.

Any suggestion or advice?

actually they are basically the same.

there are differences between the latest w10 and w10 anniversary update. maybe that's why you have the impression that they are different.

the fastest and safest way to download w10 official isos is via ms.

imagine anti-virus can be triggered to install malware, by doing their job: to protect us from malware.

although this one is from Microsoft. and was patched now, it's really a food for thought.

maybe i'm not clear enough sorry; whether you get w10 upgrade via the previous w10 free upgrade program, or via the special free upgrade program for consumers that use assistive technologies, you get the same iso files. there is no special version for w10 with assistive technologies.

Got onto the latest Creator Update.................... Start menu customizing / pinning is dead.
Duh. Still figuring any cure if anyone got idea about that...
meh, create a new user account... doh.gif

Still, how on earth do we FORCE update username on W10, after changing it on Microsoft website?
It just doesn't seems to update even after restart...

System Image backup now seems to want to include my huge storage drive... WTF? bangwall.gif
Guess I have to find 3rd party system image solution now...

...

Literally sit here half a day and still haven't finish setup my fresh install due to some Windows inconvenience like the system image problem.
It didn't happens before, but now why this Creator Update version require image to include storage drives?
Using 3rd party solution (to create rescue disc) seems require me to download somesort of Windows SDK that is like over 4gig in size,
not that I don't have the fast internet to do it, but it just really inconvenience to download MORE tools, to do the same thing that I suppose to be able to do previously without any external software.

I don't really have many software to install, but little problem with Windows here and there really pile up and sucking a lot of times.

have you tried the windows powershell command (as administrator) like the following?

CODE
wbAdmin start backup -backupTarget:Z: -include:C: -allCritical -quiet

where Z: is my external hdd.

i didn't experience anything that time-taxing yet.

I just dunno why must it include my K drive, there nothing different I did compared to any other older version.
As always since the dawn of time, I have my desktop, download, music, photo and stuff moved to K drive instead of C.
I made many image-backups before with the exact configurations, never did they include my K drive until now...
Either Microsoft changed something, or something weird happened along the way while installing Creator Update...

Well I could remove the "-allCritical" part and it won't have that problem anymore... But

CODE
Note:  The list of volumes included for backup does not include all the
volumes that contain operating system components. This backup cannot be used
to perform a system recovery. However, you can recover other items if the
destination media type supports it.

Sigh. Well, 3rd party solution it is... Tried AOMEI Backupper to backup system drives and it didn't include K as expected.

yes there must be something else that are in the way. maybe it's because creators update really changed something in the system image creation process. in this case, just switch to other cloning utils.

Quoting myself... Booting into safe mode somehow forced the profile to update... That's... interesting... whistling.gif

hopefully everyone has patched their windows via windows updates, or disable smbv1 (a better solution if there is no old machines that run os as old as wxp in the same network that requires file sharing compatibility).

the ransomware WannaCrypt that exploits Microsoft's os feature smbv1 is really nasty. discovered last friday (may 12), from stats shown at https://intel.malwaretech.com/WannaCrypt.html it's already here in Malaysia.

there is a version 2.0 now according to security researchers.

officially ms declared that w10 is unaffected; but god knows what's in v 2.0. this time there is no killswitch. that means it will keep on spreading :/

there is no need to turn all off, just disable or remove smb 1.0 to be sure (unless you need it for other purposes)

i don't need it so i just remove it from my systems for good.
