I just gonna backup important stuff to another PC and unmounts the partition  whistling.gif

Still so many people uses outdated W7 around...

yeah.

for older os users, they just need to patch their systems, and do similar precautions to minimize risks.

QUOTE(greed road @ May 18 2017, 11:54 AM)
question, virus wannacry ni can spread via external / pendrive ke?
SMB is file sharing 1 computer to another right?
sorry, noob here.
sifu, download movie/tvseries or watching online safe ke? friends kept asking me (but i don't know).
*
it's possible. the original might not be able to do it, but we do not know for sure other variants can do that or not. note that it's a malware that can run on any windows-based os. it's not necessary to infect computers via the bug.

yes it's the file sharing features built-in into windows.

just be careful when you do that. as precaution, also turning on antivirus and anti-exploit/anti-malware, and let them run in background.

QUOTE(noodlecore @ May 18 2017, 12:54 PM)
Well, disabling the SMBv1 feature will also make any of shared folders, mapped drives won't work at all. all the shared drives will get disconnected & unreachable.
It depends on how's ur requirement & usage. Just take a precaution here especially if u r in the organization or company environmental, it might be needed so by disabling it, u will unable to reach the file on the network.
*
correct. for work places, it might depend on requirements. but then, it's just a choice between convenience and risk to potential massive data loss, and time to recover every infected computer for them to resume operations.

W10 Creators Update, anyone has updated to this version? I got the update already but now thinking whether to install via their OTA or doing a clean installation, in which of course the latter would get me back to 0.

yeah me; clean install lol

you can create a system image first before upgrade. if things do not work well, just restore from the image.

I recently upgraded to Win 10 but lost access to my Ethernet connection via TPlink extender.
Message says IP address is invalid.
After research online of the issue and trying every proposed solution including reset setting ipconfig , reinstall driver, firmware etc it's still not working.
Is there any Win-buff to take me out of my misery?
Thanks

for many reasons, until now, in-place upgrades are still really based on luck.

the safer way to do this is to make a system image just in case things don't work out for a system. just restore the system and move on, finding free time to do a clean install instead.

i think you either wait for those long-time edge users to respond, or check out other similar discussions on the internet.

most of us still go back to our favorite web browsers.

Sorry it's 300Mbps AV500 Wi-Fi Powerline Extender
I'd the wifi and Ethernet functionality working excellent before Win10

Thanks and much appreciate your response

i suspect it's a compatibility issue.

i checked this model, and it appeared that it also has different versions (in the same model); if yours is version 1.0, there is an update of utility of some sort. maybe you need that. (also, check out the firmware part)

please make sure you have the same model and version first, because it might brick the device if applying the wrong firmware to a wrong model, http://www.tp-link.com.my/download/TL-WPA4...IT.html#Utility

the command line to install wu in .cab format is dism /online /add-package /packagepath:path.to.cab.file, e.g. dism /online /add-package /packagepath:"c:\updates\windows10.0-kb4020102-x86_ad90b5bc48387b6332dcf4d9ab3c8e639f936d4b.cab"
