Hey guys. Anyone has any thoughts on this?
*
No picture of the burr they used.

Plus its pretty bold to claim they get good grind consistency from Turkish to French press.

Mostly AP, Drip and FP... with dark roasted beans. Am caught between the Breville BCG820 and an entry Nivona CafeGrano 130. Currently with a CrushGrind Brazil and getting tired of manual grinding in the morning for the first sip of caffeine.
*
In that case, then don't waste your money with the BCG820.

Get the Feima 600n or the Fuji Royale clone from China(taobao/aliexpress).

You can find the link in the few pages back. Only costs about 300-400 instead of 1500 for Breville.

I would highly recommend the Anonymous MK2 grinder.

Normal version https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10....id=525828224421

Italmill burr(more suited for Espresso) version

https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10....&id=45236342301

It does not take much effort and time to grind at all.

I had Breville Smart Grinder and Porlex grinder at home.

and also 1zpresso Zpro.

Don't see much use for the Breville smart grinder.
Porlex hand grinder is now my salt/pepper grinder...

Skerton/Porlex does not even come close in terms of built quality/grind quality.

But RM350 + shipping kinda costly for a product in taobao.. How much different of the grind quality of this from Skerton?
*
Not really, it only cost about MYR 25-30 for express shipping from China.
Grind quality are much more consistent due to better build quality, double bearing design and also higher quality sharpened steel burrs.

Alternatively, can consider the Fuji Royale clone grinder for pour over. Costs roughly the same. You can find the link in the few pages back.

Still on the manual grinder vs Machine grinder I see.

Just my 2cents here.

For me hand grinder reason to go for hand grinder is the grind quality vs money.

One good example is the OE Pharos 2 Grinder with 68mm conical burrs and very minimal retention.

To get the equivalent motorized version with delivers the same grind quality would cost about MYR 5 to 6k vs about MYR1500 for the OE Pharos.

AND, the most important part is, these high quality steel burrs grinders DOES NOT take much effort(torque) AND time at all. 30 secs+ vs 3 mins+ (about 6 times faster than Porlex/Hario ceramic burr grinder)

But of course, if I have an Ek43 / Peak grinder at home, then I would not even bother with manual hand grinder.

pharos or kinu m68 or hg-1.  nod.gif
*
Perhaps not HG1/Kinu M68, but Pharos is still affordable to me since it costs roughly the same as my Breville BCG820.
But it is more for Espresso , so maybe not getting until I get an Espresso maker.

Good decision to have the spares along with the order from stateside. The new Easy-Clean Portafilter is good to have too as it will ease the cleaning process by much after caffeine. The Stainless Steel Piston is worth considering too.

I will definitely go for the Flair Signature Black if someone want to salvage my Flair Bundle Set.

If the price is right, I wouldn't mind taking it off your hand brows.gif

Ok, just an update. I went aeon to hands on the hario skerton, feel loosy and not sturdy. So I bought the "wonderful grinder" from taobao. Hope it works better than skerton hmm.gif hmm.gif

https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r....ucket=16#detail

Apart of that, I started to feel my blade grinder is wasting my beans. I could only get half shot of flavorful espresso each round and the taste of my coffee is not strong as my bean supplier's cafe made.
*
Excellent choice!
No doubt it works MUCH better than Skerton.

Hario/Porlex grinder build quality can't be compared to this.
My Porlex hand grinder now sitting in the kitchen drawer for salt/spices grinding, ever since I got the Anonymous Hand grinder.

Yes but that will require 25g for a decent expresso will try

Yes same grind size the finest already Baratza Sette 270 is it a good grinder? Thanks
*
Baratza Sette 270? No doubt that it is a good grinder.
Was eyeing this to upgrade from my Breville Smart Grinder, but decided against it since it does not fit my brewing (mostly filter).

If I am using delonghi kg89.

Is it good enough for espresso??
*
I have the same grinder, and the answer is no.

If you are on a budget, do consider a manual hand grinder from China as recommended by lowkl.

https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10....id=539696451330

You can read the comparison/ review for it against the more expensive german hand grinder Kinu m47 few pages back.

had good experience with Hario Japan with my Skerton misaligned
shaft. Hario Jap sent replacement foc. try them.

so far, not many reviews on the Slim +. however, it seems the new
handle cap design eliminated the excessive play the older design
has... which should make the Slim + much more durable. of course
it will encounter ware and tear. but it is much more economical
than electrical grinders for parts and much lesser maintenance
needed.

you can consider a 600N copy for ~RM300. maybe squallx840
can comment on his...

edit: Gobar Equipment is in KL. call them at 016-912 6851 (got it
from their FB) to check the Slim+ out. or can ask for his opinion.
*
The one I'm currently using is the Fuji Royale clone with Ghost teeth burr.
Not suitable for Espresso.

Anyway, I doubt anyone can get any "decent" electric grinder at around RM300.
Better stick with those Hario Ceramic hand grinder, or MIC hand grinder(better option)

Tell us how's the stain on your dripper after using it for 2 months.  biggrin.gif

That's why I prefer glass, or ceramic.
*
Been using plastic V60 for 2 years plus now.
Got a bit of stain and some cracks, no big issue.
Dropped it dozens of times too biggrin.gif

Which is why I prefer the plastic ( and due to the fact that its way cheaper)

Wow, I was eyeing on this too, but I decided to order their ACE48 grinder with 47mm conical burr from the same seller.

Does it require more force / strength to grind the beans? since the burrs are quite huge for the hand grinder.

Quite easy for medium dark or dark roast...  but if you're grind with medium... going to crazy...  bye.gif

I see... probably not really practical for a multipurpose use as its more cater for espresso use.

Btw, what are you using for roasting?
