Do you managed to get Dolby 5.1 surround?  I only get stereo despite streaming HD sad.gif
Also, there's no option to select Dolby 5.1

Yes, If both your setup and the movie or TV show has DD 5.1, the option will definitely be there before hitting play. Its actually enabled by default. I.e. Netflix app on supported Samsung Smart TV + BD-HT.

My car doesn't have wings, rotors or aircraft engines. If I pump it full of jet fuel, will it fly?.... Sorry, just had to.. tongue.gif. To answer your question, yes you'd be stuck with 1080p max.

You can't get anything better than stereo if you are watching via Chrome or IE maybe.
I don't know about Android or other platforms, but for Windows 8/10, you can get surroud sound if you use Netflix app from Windows Store. To be able to download Netflix from Store, you will need to set your Windows region to US and you must logon to Windows Store with a Microsoft account.

You're right. Only stereo if streaming via Chrome/IE.
Only able to get DD5.1+ through Netflix app in Win10 or Samsung TV's app. smile.gif

So guys, with Netflix now in Msia, im thinking of getting a sub for my parents so they can watch it.

But our tv is a normal HDTV, not smart TV. Whats the best/cheapest way to be able to get Netflix/Iflix on this tv?

Chromecast? Means using phone as a remote, right? Will it drain Phone Battery? Sorry new tech for me. Any input or links go read up more is appreciated.

Chromecast won't drain much battery of phone. Once cast to tv, phone can go to sleep, but it will get info about the playing progress of the movie. So it will drain a bit battery but not so much as playing directly in the phone.

Unless your parents using of the devices listed here

https://help.netflix.com/en/node/23939

They won't be getting any more than 480p streaming only

To get both iflix & Netflix would be the chromecast. Select content to play with a phone, tablet or pc. Cast to the Chromecast & it takes over media playback. Your phone then acts like a remote for play, pause, jump forward, etc. You can even power off the phone and the content will still keep playing on the TV.
