Data backup, I am using WD cloud storage. Cheap and cheerful. 3TB for RM600+. Its speed upload/download depends solely on your network speed. Holliday videos I upload there. So far with Maxis LTE and Maxis home fibre, no issues with streaming. I boight a starter cloud to test and even that its works for me. Only gripe would be, very slow uploading using wireless. 4GB around 8 minutes. It gets slower with bigger files. Smaller files such as photos are much faster. So the way to go for transfering files would be hardwire to the network.

Anybody experiencing very shitty downloads with the Mac App Store? 2GB software update takes 2 days to complete wtf?

I keep getting timeouts and I left my Boot Camp Assistant to download the Windows Suport Software and it's been on for 14 hours with no progress. There's no ETA when it's started. In the Activity Monitor, Bootcamp doesn't download a single KB but the process is kept open for 14 hours.

When I launch console. It shows me "pid 388 cannot be connected dequeued before it times out"

When I track down pid 388 it shows me another Process called _softwareupdated which downloads but does nothing else
*
I also did an update on Ipad, ip6, ip6+, ip5s and rmbp no issues, like normal. 10 minutes all done. But I did recall once there was an issue, but most probably due to congestion. smile.gif

anyone willing to share their experience for using the Mac OS? i was thinking to change taste toward Mac Os from window lol.
*
Much2 easier to navigate than windows. Even their software apps, pages, numbers & keynote simpler to use imho. The system at my workplace is predominantly PC, but integration file sharing a non issue. But the best is that no more headaches due to viruses etc, just update to the latest firmware and you are good to go.

my windows 10 on bootcamp seems to drain battery a lot..sweat.gif

is this a common thing if using mbp?
*
If u can hear the fan operating all the time (or feel the draft of the air at the back), then definitely will drain battery power fast. High graphics apps I know for a fact drain like no body's business.

the fan works normally i supposed, not like it was forced to full-speed, and my mac was quite as well. hmm.gif

i use the windows 10 for browsing and reading ebooks only.. sweat.gif

Download free app, Macs Fan Control http://www.crystalidea.com/macs-fan-control. You can then monitor the state of your fan, on or off and at what rpm. But if reading pdfs it should only use less battery though.

Bros, whats the advantage of using Chrome against Safari? I have always thought about it but have never used Chrome. Is there some advantage that I should know about? Thanks

If you're always on the go and battery life is a much more important consideration, stay away from Chrome and use Safari instead
*
Ok. Noted.

QUOTE(limkj @ Jul 29 2016, 02:37 PM)
Chrome is compatible with certain websites where Safari has some problems. For example if you have been on Malaysia Airlines website, if you check in online with Safari, you cannot download the boarding pass. Chrome is ok. However making online booking and others are ok.
However in general, majority of sites no problem with Safari. So I only use chrome when Safari has problems.
*
Oic. I do agree that on certain websites, some parts can't be seen due to incompatibility.

Thnaks for the input.

Hello, anyone knows where I can get a non branded model of this? Most places are selling the original Apple model at Rm100+ but i was told that some shops sell normal brands for Rm20-RM30.

Cable
*
Bro I would advise you to get the ori. You only need one and these do last, not unlike the lightning cable, even that form past experience an ori works much better compared to 3rd party.

I have been looking for Thunderbolt to USB3.0 adapter or dock at so many shops already still don't have. Quite a waste of good technology, very limited products in the market. I guess the 2 Thunderbolt ports on my rMBP will just be some holes I will never fill, and that's not an innuendo hahaha.
*
Those with thunder bolt are bloody expensive. Hopefully the prices will go down sometime in the future. Currently use the thunderbolt to lan adapter and hopefully invest in a external apple monitor....

hi guys im not sure where I can post this. ill try here.

my sisters macbook pro dropped and damaged the screen

its a 13" retina display macbook pro and apple shop quoted about 1-2k to replace. (only will tell real price upon confirming repair -.-)

any other suggestion ? I was thinking, are there scrapyards where for example i can find a working screen with broken MB etc ...?

Or any sifu here that know how to fix this without charging a bomb? hehe
*
Bro, do try at Imbi plaza there, there are 2nd hand shops. Those non retina i know can find but retina displays are still new in a sense. BTW, you don't have the 'apple care'?

Hi bro thanks for reply.
I think my sis told me it's expired. She got it in mid2014 😂
*
I meant 'apple care' that is extra on top the standard warranty. IIRC it was for arround RM900, that goes for 3 years no questions. I think it is wort it to have.

Anyway, at Imbi look at the 1st floor somewhere at the side. Its a used equipment shop so to speak, something like a kedai potong but for IT products. All the best bro.

Anyone knows how much does it cost to repair the speaker?

My MBP Retina Mid 2015 is making a buzzing noise at the left speaker all of a sudden, like blown bass. I wasn't playing loud music actually, the problem suddenly occurs.
*
If still got warranty, send to SC bro.

does anyone know if i can franken-monitor the retina screen with a normal macbook pro 13" screen?
*
You could try if there is someone willing to do it, but I am sure it would be difficult as I am sure the ribbon cables differs between the two since both having different resolutions etc etc.

Hi All,
Can I buy SSD for MBP here locally? Im currently using 256, planning to get 512.

Thanks!
*
It gets bloody expensive when upgrading after purchase mbp.... those who bought 128Gb many got issues, but 256 should be manageable. I am on 256gb and I opted for a cloud storage rather than gettign and upgrade.

I guess the thermal paste used in manufacturing isn't that good. Currently using smcfancontrol to increase fan rpm when temp increase.
*
What sort of temperatures your mbp experiencing? Mine do get really hot whilst playing simulation games, can relly hear the fans at max speed but its about 2 years still ok .

Around 50-60c when idling. And 60-80c when heavy internet, movies etc. Else when gaming like csgo..100+c. I guess its normal  due to hot and humid room temperature.
*
do you have a case or skin on your mbp? its best run naked...hehe

currently using speck case. thinking of getting rid of it.
*
Yes indeed as the whole outer shell is made of aluminium, thus it acts also like a radiator thus dissipating heat. With a shell, all the heat is contained except those that exits through the back. Try it with and without the shell, and you can notice a difference.

hi all,

just found out my mbpr got the anti coating stain issue.

read this "Apple will replace Retina displays on affected MacBook or MacBook Pro models for free within three years from the date of original purchase, or one year from October 16, 2015, whichever is longer." somewhere.

wonder anyone here changed theirs already? how was the TAT to get your mbp back? mine was not that bad but still an eyesore.
*
There are members here that have send in their rmbp for the 'stain' lcd issue. It takes somewhere between 3days to 1 week depending where you send it in. I can't remember where exactly but its listed somewhere in this thread where you can send in yours. FYI i plan to send in mine, but couldn't find the right time as I heavily use my labtop for work and can't go without it for too long. Some cases are very bad, and sme are minor... eventually need to be send in.
