Hi guys, I need some recommendations for a laptop.

Here are my requirements:
1. Preferred Brand = Any
2. Budget = Below RM4k
3. Usage = Simple tasks like using internet browser, ms office, not for gaming
4. Preferred laptop/screen size = 13 inch/ 13.3 inch/ 14inch (1080p or above)
5. Preferred GPU = If it's possible, I would like to have a laptop without a dedicated graphics card as they make a lot of heat no matter how good the cooling of a laptop is (based on experience with various gaming laptops)
6. Preferred OS = None or Free (Because... you know... reasons xD)

The laptops that I'm interested in are those that looks good and light in weight, so far I've found Dell XPS 13 to be the most ideal model that fits my criteria but it's too expensive.

I would like to know where can I purchase previous models of Dell XPS 13 (which is cheaper than the 2016 model listed on Dell's website)

I would also like to know where can I purchase a Asus Zenbook UX305? The models listed on the official website is UX305UA (Uses i3, i5 or i7 processors) and UX305CA (Uses Core M processors). Most of the online retailers only have the older models like UX305FA or something similar, which is why I'm unable to compare prices.

Suggestions regarding where to purchase a new (not used or refurbished) one is welcomed too!

Suggestions that match these criteria are also welcomed!

Any help regarding this is also highly appreciated!

Looking at Inspiron 15 7000 Series and HP Pavilion Gaming Notebook - 15-ak031tx, would they be able to support games like fallout 4 (on low graphic setting of course)

Also any recommendation for 14 inch laptop (gaming and for work, mainly power point, excel and word)?
*
you need at least a gtx960m to run fallout 4 on low settings.

Most common i7 in the market comes with either a quad core or dual core. U series = dual core. Dual core is more power saving compare to the quad core ones. biggrin.gif

For e.g,
U series = i7-6500U, i7-6600U
HQ series = i7-6700HQ

There are even more efficient processor than the i7-6700HQ such as i7-6820HK. icon_idea.gif

Performance wise, i7 > i5 > core M > i3
Core wise, HQ > U

But U series processor means that it is towards power saving and lower battery life.
If you have the budget, the current best bang of buck would be the Dell Inspiron 7559. I would say decent in almost every aspect. biggrin.gif

Asus K401U-BFR011T 14" Laptop/ Notebook (i5-6200U, 4GB, 1TB, NV GT940M, W10H) 2.5k/-
Asus A456U-FWX023T A-Series 14" Laptop/ Notebook (i5-6200U, 4GB, 1TB, NV GT930M, W10H) 2.2k/-

Since your budget is 2.5k, you can get Asus A456U, and upgrade ram/invest on a cooler pad for a long run. Whether your laptop is gonna last long or not, it is solely depending on the owner. Ventilation, maintenance and etc are very important. pandera999 gor gor has a 7 years Acer laptop that can still plays dota. brows.gif

IIRC, you did mention to hunt for K501 before. But not sure which K501 model you mentioned though, but anyway, K501U comes with a better graphic performance than the one i recommended. But personally, i really do think that 8gb ram is a minimum requirement for windows 10.

Hope this helps a bit. biggrin.gif
