lenovo is slightly more expensive than the acer but i'm getting i7 for lenovo.
if i7 for acer it would be different price.
but lenovo quality is reliable right?

oh, means you can stretch your budget until that. not really. acer is reliable than lenovo actually.. and acer still keep up with its reputation. as past many years, acer now not really the same with old acer. lots of changes.

how much do you think you can stretch ur budget?? how long will you gonna use the ACAD?

get the i5 and save money unless you really really need the speed

i7-5500U vs i5-6200U
http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i7-5500...l-Core-i5-6200U

the i7 - U version is a joke man its the practically the same as i5, 2 Core with 4 Thread, its just marginally faster in speed, and has a label on your laptop which says i7 for siok sendiri only.

Now if it was the i7 with HQ version those are different class all together, 4 Core 8 Thread baby.
These are usually on more expensive laptops like gaming type.

Hi sifus :-)

1.Preferred Brand: any
2. Budget: 3-5k
3. Usage: movies, downloads , football manager, sometimes csGO
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : weight less 2.3kg or 2 kg,  size 13-15inch, thin bezel

Led is better than IPS right if you want vivid colour?
If can,  best colour on screen

Tq  sifus :-)

U would like to know if AutoCAD takes advantage of multi threading, hyper threading and multiple processors.....

Some components in AutoCAD since release 14 do handle multi threading (for example, the AutoLISP interpreter is a thread). AutoCAD Release 14 itself is not a thread-safe application and not really a multi threaded application. For AutoCAD 2000 and later, releases do have some support for dual processors and hyper threading, but no more than two cores will be utilized. On dual-core processor systems, you will see significant increases in AutoCAD application performance, particularly for graphics and file I/O operations.

If u r using AutoCAD on a multi-processor system (i.e., more than two cores), umay see a slight performance improvement, but only as much as the operating system is taking advantage of the multiple processors.

An ARX application can make full use of multi threading as long as it is the only thread that communicates with AutoCAD . Again, this is because AutoCAD is not thread safe. Falling to do so will cause synchronization problems.

so, dual core still ok for AutoCAD

I saw someone mention a Lenovo that fits your budget few days/week ago. Dont remember model.
But i was surprised by its value, it has i5, SSD and maybe GPU and FHD.
Getting an SSD inside is soo sweet, just use a usb external hdd for your movies

I think a lot of people overestimate the hardware requirement of CAD or 3D modelling softwares, eg.sketchup, bender. Based on my usage actually a mid end i3 cpu and a mediocre gpu is enough to render at a good fps. Of course it is case to case basis but still, I find that even a few years old laptop can do most of my work smoothly.

QUOTE(.Kickers. @ Feb 5 2016, 06:21 PM)
Guys, my laptop Inspiron 14R 5437 just got stolen from my hostel yesterday morning. Pfft lah.

So I need some recommendation for my new one. I have a very tight tight budget.

1. Preferred Brand: Dell, Asus or HP. Lenovo ? Boleh lah.
2. Budget: RM2.5k max but I still can korek korek.
3. Usage: Doing my assignment mostly, web surfing, watching movies, downloads, playing games such as FIFA16 and CS:GO.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : 14" just nice but I also okeyy with 15"
5. GPU : Nvidia.

Thanks. It has been a tough day for me.
*
so unlucky u.. how come get stolen? shocking.gif shakehead.gif so pity eh.. notebook now also not cheap....

wan to try hp??
HP Pavilion 14-ab111TX (i5-5200U, 4GB, 1TB, NV 940M, W10H)

Asus K401UB-FR011T (i5-6200U, GT940m, 14" FHD) 4GB ram on board memory, 1TB, W10, 1.65kg, no ODD stretch sikit RM2599

if cny sales.. maybe cheaper and within your budget. try buy w/o free gift..usually cheaper...

that asus does not have optical drive. so, if you not really use odd, then its good for you. + comes with newer processor and decent low end gpu.
