If you want a laptop that is equipped with a FHD panel screen, then you need at least RM2.5k. sad.gif
The following models price are around RM1.7k. Both comes with HD screen and it should work good for your job biggrin.gif

HP 14-ac140TU 14" Laptop/ Notebook (i3-5005U, 4GB, 1TB, AMD R5 M330, W10)
Asus X455LJ-WX319T X-Series 14" Laptop/ Notebook (i3-5010U, 4GB, 500GB, NV GT920M, W10H)
*
Thanks bro. I don't really care about the panel or max resolution of the screen. As long as the laptop is able to playback HD or full HD videos smoothly it's already fine by me. nod.gif

I will look into those models that you recommended right away. Thanks for your help. smile.gif

Hi. Not sure if right place to ask this, but I've been looking at Dell 7447 or 7559 because I heard customer service is good, and gaming performance is okay. Been surveying for months before deciding on these two, but which is better for a mix of MMO gaming and net browsing/watching shows?

Most importantly, I DON'T want Windows 10. Can I get a 7447 or 7559 with Win 8.1 instead?

Another thing is, I know the mid RM3000 ASUS ROG machine (GL552JX-DM014H) used to come with Win 8.1, but I think now they've changed to 10 already? Was originally aiming for this one.

Hi guys. Need a recommendation for the following criteria.

1. Preferred Brand: Any.
2. Budget: None.
3. Usage: Work. Lots of tabs open and running at least 2 VM's.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : 14 inch is fine.
5. Weight: Up to 2kg
6. RAM: Min 16GB
7. Battery life: Preferably 8 hours
*
it's hard to find laptops with those combination, mostly laptop that comes with 16gb are gaming laptop where we knew that gaming laptop rarely to achieve 8 hours on battery
the only gaming laptop i can find that can last nearly 8 hours are Dell Alienware 15 price at 8.5k where it can last 7.5 hours on battery but the weight of this laptop are heavy 3.2kg sweat.gif

for others recommendation can try take a look at Dell Latitude 14 E7450 price at 5k which their battery can last up to 8 hours but it only comes with 8gb only, you have to add another 8gb ram by yourself

another recommendation for a very long lasting battery from me is Lenovo ThinkPad T450s price at 6.8k which it can last up to 15 hours IF you change the rear battery from 24wh to 72wh but the ram are not upgradable only have 12gb

You can get a laptop with GTX970M with that budget. Go for Illegear. This model comes with no OS, but you can get the genuine key of Windows 10 Home for less than RM100 in the garage sales. Gooding yo! brows.gif
ILLEGEAR S7 17.3" Full HD Laptop/ Notebook (i7-6700HQ, 8GB, 1TB, NV GTX970M, NoWindows) RM6.3k/-
1k budget with i5 and lightweight can only be available in refurbished laptops. If the budget is a constraint, Lazada is a good choice. If it is not, better avoid buying IT gadgets from Lazada, you will have problems claiming the warranty service if the product really costs problems to you. biggrin.gif

Hi,

Budget is a constraint. Really need a better processor. I have a celeron laptop at home. It is just too slow for me to look at 100k lines of data. Response is just not there.
Thanks. Warranty is my concern also. Maybe i will buy refurbished laptops from normal it shops. At least i can see the quality. Thanks again

That's not bad. Checking it out. Can't do a custom config on the Malaysian store though. Annoying.

Thanks for answering. 7447 is hard to find now though right?

Also if I see a OS: DOS for 7559 what does it mean?

Does that mean DOS is the best if the user wants full control then?

Basically being able to install Win 7 or 8.1 depending on driver compatibility for the laptop?

Preferred Brand: HP / Acer / Dell (but any will do)
Budget: 2k and lower (incl. GST?)
Usage: Studying, video/audio editing, gaming (mostly those old specs games and MMO)
Preferred laptop/screen size: If possible, the bigger the better.

I had Inspiron before (and somehow dunked it in water), so I am looking forward to other suggestion. And, how cheap one can make their med-spec desktop?

Asus X554LJ price at 2k
-intel i5-5200U
-nvidia gt 920m
-4gb ram
-15.6" HD
-DOS

or you can add another 200 for Asus A455LF that comes with nvidia gt 930m which is a better graphic card than 920m

Sounds like the best deal to me, especially with fresh install and no bloatware.

Thanks again for the help.

Hi, suggest you get 7559 instead, newer processor and better graphic
as for windows, just get the dos version of inspiron 7559 from retailer and install windows 8.1 yourself smile.gif
