Hi,

Please recommend a suitable laptop. Thanks.
I'm a very light user if not for the fact that I'm running speech recognition. So, I need fast and strong processing power. Basically, gaming laptop specs without the graphic card.

1. Preferred Brand: -
2. Budget: 3-4k. Can stretch budget if fulfill requirement
3. Usage: Browsing. Speech recognition
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : Any, but prefer keyboard with no numpad so more spacing to type (optional)
5. weight: -
6. Specs:

- CPU - i7 quad core. Can take older gen. L3 cache (min 6mb, prefer 8mb) since 6700HQ only 6mb.
- RAM - min 8GB or more.
- HD - Prefer SSD but optional
- Graphics Card - I don't game. No impact.

Not sure if I missed out anything. Any good promotions going on? Planning to buy it by this week or early next.

Looking at these 2 models. Asus UX305, HP envy 13

How does the intel-M compared to the i5?

leaning more towards the Asus as it fits my budget better. I can't seem to find the official pricing in Malaysia for the Asus. No pricing on the official site.

Yeah, that's why I put 6mb min there. Cause I know I probably won't be able to find 8MB cache processor with ~4k budget.
I'm still looking for options, and now leaning towards just getting a gaming laptop and add on RAM to be done with it.

Workstation looks nice but I won't be able to afford the 6k price tag.

Clevo (sold here as an Illegear/Aftershock) PC. icon_idea.gif

No bloatware, great customer service, extremely easy to service (they even have a service manual for their machines), and they are very well built. icon_idea.gif

Come July, my Toshiba Satellite would have served me 11 years. Other than broken hinge and a keyboard replacement, this has been a good workhorse. I'm looking for a new system and wants something fairly reliable.

1. Preferred Brand: None*
2. Budget: 4000+
3. Usage: Work, occasional work in Photoshop / After Effects, some gaming (DotA, flight simulators etc)
4. Screen size : 13-15"
5. Memory: 8gb

This thread at https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3753380 is useful but more towards a gaming laptop.

Recommendations (of those without known issues) from sifu here please. Just throw some here for further research before I start shortlisting them. Thanks!

bro shirogawawa, thanks for not spamming my inbox the other day. Poor fella like me couldn't afford the dream A15 though

*big corp, small corp, indie corp so long as I can get it here in Malaysia

If you don mid I have something more to ask..
1.How much is a mid range gaming laptop cost?
1.1.Is the graphics card that Support for DirectX v12 or later is expensive?

2.Is there another branded which dun use the AMD processor and graphics card? Coz I have bad memories with them..

3.Which latest gaming laptop you really prefer for mid range gaming and how much it cost?

Remark: The game I usually play was Leauge of Legends
Here the website of system requirements support.lol.garena.com/en_SG/articles/407

Note: If 3000 is not enough for a mid range gaming laptop I will save it until I got 4500++ to get a Asus rog laptop.

And Thanks you again for answering my question.. and your time...
