i am not so much into streaming from pc, etc. as i prefer to do local playback for larger files which i tend to collect and keep.

smaller files, fabulous quasar can do direct on the tv itself, don't even need a box! biggrin.gif

but it's a useful feature.

perhaps dual band gigabit will also boost overall wifi strength and coverage over say 50 ft?
*
Coverage about the same unless you get those models with strong antennas. I had to use a wall plug extender in my master bedroom. The distance is approx 30+ feet away on the same floor but blocked by a toilet and another bedroom.

Actually I'm not sure why the 2.4Ghz channel can't stream smoothly while the 5Ghz channel can.

yes, i understand that 5ghz as a higher frequency is stronger than 2.4 but with higher losses, it's only good for short distances.

question is how short is short... 20, 30, 50, 100ft? at what point does it negate the use of 5ghz? depends on the router specs, i would think.

"throughput" - this is interesting,  meaning it can "push" more bits and bytes per sec? if so, that will surely be good.

will need to read up and test at next opportunity.
something to do with...

.. operating frequency efficiency
.. router specs
.. tv networking specs

i suppose! biggrin.gif

will be good if you can test a 35-40gb bdmv m2ts video, see if the tv and router can take it. thanks.

my android box can take everything except this size of bdmv's when it comes to streaming wifi 2.4ghz from pc.
*
35-40 GB will take quite awhile to download, I'm only using the basic Maxis 10 Mbps. If I have time I'll let u know how it goes.

Now Time has 500 Mbps .. Should be crazy.

Select the same picture mode (preferably movie mode) on both TVs and play the same source files (bring yours along.. Various resolutions and formats).. Compare and listen to your eyes..  Out of courtesy & not to waste the sales guy/gal's time, make sure you have truly decided and ready to buy on the spot before asking for such favors..
*
Agree, it will be justified if you buy after asking so many favors.

Is anyone using Time 100Mbps line with your Sharp? Is there a big improvement compared to Maxis 10Mbps?

Haha.. Downgrading is possible (penalties may apply).. Outright cancelation and removal is not allowed though. Must attach at least one package.
I should expect nothing less than a huge improvement. Which donation is better: RM10 or RM100?  tongue.gif

Will give it a try if they sponsor the fine for early termination, I heard that they offer rm500 rebate if you switch lines.

Are you sure the size is enough for your room? How far are you sitting away from the TV?

After getting 58" I feel I made a mistake on settling for 58" instead of 65" or bigger. Hence the reason for me wanting to sell mine. From a distance of 16" I feel that the 58" look like 40".

Good idea, bring measuring tape to showroom to compare. 5 feet, I think max is 58# which will look like a cinema screen sitting so close lol... just make sure you watch mostly 4k or 1080p content as anything less will look pixelated.

Only you will know the answer by comparing them side by side. Head to a big dealer with lots of models.

How to install iflix app?
*
Just download apk from Internet using thumbdrive and plug it into the tv. Use file Explorer to find the file and click to install.

I assume it is a bug fix update. Previously with the latest version of Iflix I can't view the picture selection, now all working fine.

Just converted from Maxis 10Mbps to Time 100Mbps line. Highly recommended for users of Sharp UE630X to get Time if your area is available. For aboit the same price as Maxis 10Mbps I got 98-100Mbps download and upload speed.

Kodi which used to jerk now streams effortlessly. Netflix also will always run at 4k mode where movie permits. YouTube also same thing.

just curious...

a fren was telling me last week that this time 100mbps is 100mbps only at certain designated times of the day/night, min is 30mbps. and to get 100mbps min, need to get 300mbps line.

any truth in that?

I tested around 3pm 100Mbps download and upload. Don't have time to test whole day as I'm working.

Man... no offense, but spending close to RM2K and can't even handle DTS in today's age, was a bad decision... There are 5.1 Home Theaters that come standard with HDMI inputs (minimum 2) and can handle DD, Dolby True HD, core DTS, DTS-HD, etc, which costs the same or even cheaper... Besides aesthetics, which to me is of a far lower priority, where sound is concerned.. I never did fancy soundbars and have considered them as overpriced.. Unfortunately, the purchase has been done... I'd advice, if you can't find an acceptable workaround on this... Sell off the soundbar and cut your losses... Get an entry-level AVR + speakers or a branded HT.. Much better performance.
*
agree ... soundbar really last resort.. if aesthetics is important can consider in wall speakers + avr.
