If the picture is terrible then the source must be terrible, may not even be HD. Press info on the remote thrn u will know what is the source resolution.

Even using iFlix though not full HD also looks decent to me.

After using Time 100Mbps confirm that it can run 4k with multiple devices on, never regretted the upgrade from Maxis 10Mbps at almost same price!

To see if you are running 4k press display on the remote then can see the resolution.

I was actually thinking of getting the 65" since it is at a good price range for me. But with no HDR, I have to reconsider. Anyway thx bro. Good info. I thought this series got HDR as well.

Hdr or no hdr is not important compared to actual image quality. You can have tons of specs but still look horrible. How successful is the hdr implementation is more important.

Hdr tries to improve contrast and colours, but is still limited to lcd limits. Which means, it will never have unlimited contrast and perfect black level. Which means, it will never beat any Oled tvs.

Thanks for the input bro. As you can see, I game on PS4, and with the latest HDR update, a lot of existing games is going to implement the HDR feature. Not to mention, all the latest one will support HDR. According to most review, the HDR really a game changer for most games. Hence that is why I am looking for HDR support for the TV.
*
The criteria is the same, still boils down to image quality and for games response time must be acceptable. Bring your PS4 to test the tv before buying.

should take higher resolution for bigger screen. otherwise you will see box on screen. no point for 3d.

Yes true, anyway prices dropped drastically already since my update. Anyone wants a cheap Sharp 58UE630 feel free to pm me.

from last few pages, i think a couple of people have completed the update to android6.
need 6 hrs or so, i believe; so, need overnight.
if fail, can send report/contact them:
https://sharp.com.my/pageRender?msgContent=technicalyenquiry
from last couple of pages, think u r the 2nd person experiencing that.
meaning after update, the native player had more difficulty in reading drives.
originally, it is already not that good as it won't read certain brands, sizes and formats - as stated in the manual.
which is why i gave up using the native player; had always used es file exp with mx or kodi.
kodi is a better player than mx or vlc but is slower as it has to startup and shutdown like using kodi normally for streaming.
with android6, does esf-mx/kodi work ok with usb playback?
i have not updated to android6 yet, no need for now.
all sideloaded apps work fine, so far.

Is it better to keep the old OS?

saw some seller is selling LC58UE630X for 37xx again very tempting...
or should i get the Sony 55X7000d with HRD?

hardly to have them together to compare side by side...

*If I only couldn't get Samsung 55KS7000 at 5kish.... sad.gif

Don't be fooled by gimmicks, view the actual TV in a place which have many demos like Desa Home Kepong. Bring your own demo files to view.

I chose Sharp in the end because in some scenes look even better than Oled at the time during some demos at Harvey Norman. Of course given the choice now and no budget constraints, I will probably choose the latest oled TV.

Sold my UE630X for a bargain as no longer using it since I moved house. Now can plan for other models, even Sony has Oled for sale but going for rm30k.

Is this still the best value TV? There's a wide range of new TVs now when I visit Harvey Norman. Even Sony has Oled.

its subject to what you are looking for and how much you are willing to spend. for me, my wife think sharp colour better as compare to sony 7500D, (both are 4K Android and similar price range) Sony with HDR but is consider mid range in Sony and Sharp 630x is older model without HDR but better build quality + extra smart remote.
*
Main importance is the picture quality, not the fancy terms they use. How it looks on the screen for the same price is what counts.

Sold my 58UE630X some time ago, but now I see 65in screen becoming more affordable.

Very true.. Just three years ago, paid almost 6K for a 55" 1080p TV... If spending the same amount today, will definitely get a decent 65" 4K TV with real HDR.. What to do, the price of being an early adopter.  biggrin.gif
*
I still prefer Oled TVs.. but prices didnt change much.. still around RM15k for a 65".

I've been looking at the entry level Sony 7000 series which is also going for rm5k+ for 65" but the picture quality seems worse than the older W850 full HD. I think only 8000 series is decent.

Thanks for the tips.
At first I was a bit apprehensive to splurge this kind of money for not the latest model, considering this model doesn't even come with HDR, but the picture quality is more than enough to justify my selection over the Samsung/LG 6 series or the Sony 7 series which can be had for around 5-6k region

You made the right choice. Let your eyes guide you, not the technical specs. To date unfortunately my eyes tell me Oled is the way to go, but my wallet tells me otherwise.

60" was not available even a year ago.
likely came in later to replace 58".
i think that sharp plant in mexico makes tv only for usa and canada market.
looks like it.
astrogo... try 8.0.4.2.
this may be the only one that does not force u to update to latest and then stop.
*
Yea I was surprised to see 60" had to do a double take to see if there was a printing error.

Can't imagine 65" is the normal size now for below rm6k. Those 75-80 also getting more affordable, soon we won't need to consider projectors anymore for home theatre.

bolded part... absolutely.

for that, u must not just read what people incl me say.

i have watched the ue6300x for 2 years, but have seen the ua6800x just once.

u gotta go see it for yrself.

better still, take a sample of your 1080p collection and play it on both tv's for yr eyes.

ALWAYS TRUST YOUR OWN EYES ONLY.
*
That's the best advise, only trust your eyes, not paper specs and jargons. Having many new specs does not equal to having the best picture, it is all about implementation.

I'm sorry to spoil the mood here. But, seriously you need to allocate that much of a budget for TV?? RM7k though!  shocking.gif

I you see my post that's in 2015. Costs a lot lot cheaper for 65" now.

However budget and priorities change depends on individual. Now I spend 0 because have 2 babies to take care, no time to watch TV anymore lol

What’s the best bang for buck 65” tv with HDR & wide color gamut?

So far LG 65UJ652T seems good on paper.

Very seldom you can choose any TV based on paper.
