ue630x is almost 3 years old.
old and not so old - for a 4k tv running on androidtv 6. i like this tv very much, still using it but now using ua6800x more. the androidtv is the same in both models. below, i share a few things, maybe useful for ue630x users. QUOTE ASTROGO/Sideload Apps: for those who want to sideload astrogo 8.2.4 (there is official and modified versions, either will work) or any other app. 1. install x-plore app from tv playstore. this is a file manager... to read and install apps u hv in a thumb drive. during installation, u may find the word "install" washed out, can't install. if so, use a simple trick, on/off of remote, to resume installation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuEYd1fpstU&feature=youtu.be 2. astrogo needs a mouse to navigate - can use any wireless mouse, airmouse. 3. need to install and set to default the indic keyboard from tv playstore as the default leanback keyboard is incompatible. 4. need to install a rotation lock app to get landscape rather than portrait. such an app cannot be found in tv playstore, get it from pc. e.g.: https://adaptive-rotation-lock-free.en.uptodown.com/android after installation, open it, set to adaptive/landscape. 5. astrogo needs a package installer - this, u achieve by installing a browser. get apk from pc... can use chrome or brave or firefox. 6. as astrogo is not an androidtv approved app, it does not appear at the home UI after installation. you need to manually find it in settings, apps, open it from there. or u install from playstore a sideload launcher; with this app, all other apps can be found and opened. been using astrogo for 3 years now... on 50ue630x and 60ua6800x. if this or any app app get stuck or hung, just power off tv or go to settings to restart the android. caution: the tv has security features to stop a malicious app from being installed. still, i advise NOT to install unknown, unproven, suspicious apps in the tv. if malware is bad enough, it may brick your tv. ____ apps that I have tested and used fine on ue630x and ua6800x: astrogo (need subscriber's id/pw) https://androidrepublica.com/2017/02/astro-...oid-box-rooted/ https://apkpure.com/astro-go-watch-tv-shows...com.astro.astro unifi playtv (need subscriber's id/pw) https://apkpure.com/playtv-unifi-tablet/com.huawei.pad.tm new cloudtv - some good int'l live tv channels. https://apk4free.net/new-cloudtv-vctv-b-201...3-patch-latest/ livenettv - more int'l live channels. https://www.livenettv.to/ ic drama rss player for androidtv - for china/hk/taiwan/korea/japan movie/tv shows VOD. http://www.mediafire.com/file/885170z6yvrs...TV_100.apk/file join this FB group, u find great live tv apps, id, passwords... regularly updates. https://www.facebook.com/groups/watchmovieo...23/?__tn__=HH-R |

ue630x is still a great TV for me.
a tip for those using astrogo 8.2.4 official... for landscape orientation, best to use below app... becos it keeps its landscape even if u cut off power and repower up, not put on standby. https://apkpure.com/set-orientation/com.goo....setorientation astrogo also becomes more stable with this app. enjoy! |

QUOTE(DannyOP @ Dec 12 2018, 01:33 AM) Wow didn't realise its been 3 years, I wonder what's the best option now? 65" entry level prices start as low as rm2k+ it's become the 55" prices 3 years before. Why do u need optical cable for 5.1 instead of using hdmi with audio return? ya, tv prices nosedived in the last year or so.4k 50" now quite common 2k or below. not shopping anymore since i am happy with this ue630x and the newer ua8600x. sharp have neither the best of the best models with all the highest ratings nor the high prices like rm8k, 10k. i like them for their reasonable PQ, androidtv, durability and price. i use optical audio for the ue630x becos the avr is old (not sure if there is ARC!) and the remote is gone... can't set anything but just use the front panel buttons. |

QUOTE(arvind13 @ Dec 12 2018, 02:19 PM) Hi bro, just a quick check if this TV supports 5Ghz Wifi band or only 2.4Ghz as it can't detect my Unifi 5Ghz band?  2.4 and 5ghz.5ghz will show only if signal is strong enough. if 5ghz too weak, it will fall back on the 2.4ghz. QUOTE(arvind13 @ Dec 12 2018, 04:35 PM) Ah i see.. could be due to the default TM router which i'm still using. if u hv 300, 500, 800mbps speed, replace stock router with a better one.Looking forward to get my hands on Tenda AC18 soon. Thanks for the reply bruh.. if your tv is not too far from router (<30ft best), the tv can give u all the good stuff with 5ghz. 630x shud b same as 6800x - tv wifi 5ghz can get >200mbps. if far, like 50-60ft, 5ghz may not show, tv will fall back to 2.4ghz. |

QUOTE(DannyOP @ Dec 13 2018, 01:12 PM) the tv ethernet port is not gigabit, limited to max 100mbps.if u have >100mbps speed, wifi can get u >200mbps if distance is not far. then again, such high speed is not necessary for most android apps. this applied to both ue630x and ua6800x. |

QUOTE(DannyOP @ Dec 13 2018, 04:31 PM) Thanks I'll try using wifi, just got a entry level 65" with local dimming for RM3k+ so trying it out. i think almost all TV's are limited to 100mbps ethernet. So, if u hv higher speed, u can rely on wifi to do better if u need. my ua6800x is just next to router, getting 230mbps wifi 5ghz. my ue630x is 60ft away upstairs, getting 30mbps wifi 2.4ghz. both delivering same thing for all my apps incl netflix HD, zaltv, cloudtv, astrogo... all smooth. these days, the tech is there, all quite easy to get what u want, typically. QUOTE(xphr3ak @ Dec 13 2018, 04:42 PM) How to turn off 'soap opera effect' on UE630x? i dun think there is option to turn off anything for that.https://www.cnet.com/how-to/soap-opera-effe...-off-heres-how/ i dun seem to notice this soap thingy... can u describe what files videos, apps where u get that? |

QUOTE(david_blaine @ Feb 16 2019, 04:01 PM) Nice my earlier comments were about using a separate box player->hdmi->tv, i.e. tv for display only.Is it possible to play 4k 8/10bit using external hdd? I heard this tv not support dts/truehd if play through external looks like u r talking about using the tv native player for usb playback. for that, the tv is poor, no good. ue630x native player will NOT read large files in ext HDD via usb, will only read small simple files with aac2.0 and dolby audio only. use of other player apps like vlc or kodi installed on androidtv does NOT help. take note this tv is >3 yrs old, not a model i will suggest to u at this time. r u buying new or second hand? u can consider current models like ua6800x or al1x: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4488602/+1500 these 2 run on android8 and can read large files, 4k, 8bit, 10bit, sdr, hdr. can use tv native player or installed player app. dts/dtshdma/ddtruhd/atmos audio will be output as aac2.0 or transcoded to dolby 5.1 for home theater. |
