"hm but what can u do wor DBA.. i thought they hardly hire MBA without experience but then for a DBA u must be having like some kind of 10 years quality experience then?

out of the rat race.. i'm assuming more money?
but what if let say person A and B
A has a DBA
B has an MBA

so.. if both of them were holding the same position doing exactly the same things giving equal contributions.. will the one with DBA get paid more? or the same since their performance are equal? "

DBA has their own purposes and value. You have to find out your own smile.gif and how to maximize your investment into this. I m still seeking a suitable DBA for me now because I strongly believe it will benefit me strategically for my own path in the next 25 years. Throw away your currently thinking, don't ask why you need a DBA and how much it paid (end up it depends on people capability), you should ask why you want to be a DBA? what value it bring to you and how it can assist you to achieve your destiny.

Even we get a double PHD, when we r measured by result(thats why experience and out of study knowledge is crucial), people will know how capable we are and even triple phd, if we can't deliver task, useless....but surely can teach if phd smile.gif

@gooni3,
I don't haf a decade of quality experience but I do have almost 9 years so that should be suffice. Also, like I've mentioned previously, it's my passion towards Education. Who knows? I might do some corporate consultancy work p/time and end up being in the Education field in future.

You learn more about the subject you're studying when you pursue an MBA; a DBA doesn't help in that learning curve (U would have learnt the basic in your Undergrad and MBA years) but U learn in other more thought and strategic provoking areas.

Generally, think-tanks are better remunerated compared to the do-ers. So if U do want to start earning more in future, U should think and resolve issues; U can always hire people to implement it. We have too many do-ers, insufficient think-tanks, in my opinion.

PS: Ok, I admit I just want to be Dr tinkerbel tongue.gif

@huix,
Are U based in KL? And are U looking to pursue a DBA locally? If so, how's the search and any short list as yet?

If money does not a problem to you, anytime you can opt for famous & expensive MBA course. But its depend on the budget & other factors.But frankly to me, i dont see much factors on the college reputation besides my affordability is the main priority.

When you are opt for a DBA course, i believe you are towards more professor position. DBA is where you accumulate all the theory that had studied during undergrad, post graduates, working experience, use it to debate within all the professor to make up your stands. THere is where these professor comes out to write a lot journal, artical, businnes review & etc....In MBA, u willk jsut follow & apply the theory .

My 2 cents nia..

@limyusiong,
From what I hear, the MMU MBA is more theoretical than it is practical - or have they changed the syllabus oredi?

Good Luck! Persevere through the last hurdle and know U got out of the training group well equipped to now face the many battles in life biggrin.gif

well, i taking the partime, some of de MMU lecturer really good, n coursemate r really very encouraging...like in my case, all is working adults...with yrs experience in diff industry, tat y we always share and discuss issues, and apply theories. tis is where i learn, fr them...n applying in job function...

MBA is always a 2 way communication learning process, unlike undergrad course...and i was happy my batch of coursemate and lecturer...frankly speak, i enjoy my study and i really learn a lot fr there.

sometime din think of ROI...when i decided to take up tis course, i NEVER think MBA can help me on carrier pathway, but i really wish to learn more thing..and it DOES...
