hi everyone...

Just received my acceptance letter to MBS MBA.

If all goes well, I'll start in July. Anyone attending this intake as well?
Btw, i'm based in Penang. Will be great if there will be some coursemates from here as well. smile.gif

I do wonder about it myself, MBS is listed but I'm not sure how MBS issues their degrees and how the Brits check these degrees. The company I work for will sponsor a large portion of the MBA for top schools, however there is a 2-year bond which negates the HSMP advantage...

The next cheapest option in that list is possibly IE (36k Euros) or AGSM (~60k AUD)

The Nottingham uni in UK and Malaysia produces the same certificate as they are branch unis but i'm not sure about the MBS program that is held in sunway.. is it a twinning program or its a whole MBS program?

on the HSMP list, INSEAD was listed as (FR/SG) which means both france and singapore's insead is listed in the HSMP as they are branch unis..

what i found out is that there is only MBS(UK) but no malaysia on the list.. so anyone who has information on this?

What I mean is that how the Brits who handle the HSMP program will view the MBS degree you get from Sunway. Will they view it as a full fledged MBS degree or a ******* child which doesn't qualify? As gooni3 said, some universities give you the same degree no matter where you go eg. Insead or Nottingham, but is MBS and MBS Worldwide the same from the UK Home Office point of view?

@tishaban,
It's taking a while for me to figure out what IE stands for? tongue.gif I think AGSM's a good choice; I would have taken it if not for some personal reasons and as an Australian PR, fees were v much lower then blush.gif

IE is Instituto de Empresa in Madrid Spain, one of the top 10 b-school if you look at FT's MBA ranking. btw I looked, AGSM lists one fee for both local and international students. How'd you get the discount? biggrin.gif

Maybe I should just skip the MBA and apply for HSMP directly. I looked some days ago and I already qualify!

@tishaban,
Go! I could alwiz come visit U [wait.. that would mean no more USA trips!!] and well at least I have someone in UK just in case I need to get shopping done smile.gif

I don't know about AGSM fees now but when I checked [that was like 6-7 years ago], Australian citizens & PRs didn't have to pay tuition fees; just minimal admin charges. Or was that for a different post graduate program? I remembered looking into it except I didn't put the application in as I didn't qualify due to insufficient work experience then sad.gif

Times have changed... I guess they're starting to capitalize on their Top 50 status and charging higher fees in the process biggrin.gif

Actually RM300k for an MBA program is still cheaper than the typical US b-school which can range around US$150k. I have a strategic need to be in the US in the distant future so that's one reason I'm not too keen in getting a UK based MBA. American companies tend to be picky about it...

@tishaban,
hMm... "strategic need" huh?! I should think I too have a strategic need to be in the US too! Oh then again, I could always leave it to the man to bring in the dough huh? tongue.gif

Anyhow, since U mentioned gaining scholarship from ur current employer, isn't it possible to do a US-based MBA, come back and finish the 2 year bond then strategically place urself back in the US?

My strategy and your strategy is different one. Mine involves my kids and yours involves er.... biggrin.gif And damnit when are we going to meet for lunch for me to pass that little thing I picked up for you from a certain someone in NYC. tongue.gif

My current employer pays 75% of the cost of an MBA and 25% of a very expensive EMBA is still damn expensive for me to pickup. And as you know very well I haven't even taken the GMAT yet biggrin.gif
