Why not, british know riffled reduce range but still go for it
Challenger doesn't use finned HEAT rounds like M1 Abrams for armor piercing (which has a smoothbore gun) , it uses HESH (High explosive Squash Head) for general and light armor use. That's why it can be used use rifled gun, the penetration of HESH round isn't effected by the rifling spin.
In fact Challenger 2 only carries 3 types of ammunition: APFSDS (for heavy duty armor -piercing), HESH (for general use and against light armor) and white Phosphorus rounds (for smoke geration and target marking). Because of the rifled barrel, The Challenger APFSDS round is encased in a special sabot that spins with the rifling during firing, but keeps the armor-piercing dart itself from spinning.
Challenger 2 Ammunition load types. APFSDS (front), white Phosphorus (on the left) and HESH (behind). The sticks in the center are propellant charges
Also, rifling actually increases the range of the Challenger, a finned round is more susceptible to deviations from crosswinds. Rifling can allow the Challeneger to engage targets up to 4 miles with the HESH.

Indeed, EC725 was for spec ops use but due to aforementioned problems French spec ops switching back to NH90... except EC725 has aerial refuel capability so Frenchies kinda
So now French mainly use EC725 for CSAR which is actually 1 of its main role, Germany and we also use it for CSAR More like resistance towards bullets and splinters eg RPG frag warhead. I'm sure its not for nothing EC725 invest 1 whole ton in armor and missile avoidance systems.
well France army no have EC725, they only have Puma and Cougar. now start replace to NH90。NH90 fully Cabon fiber composite body make advantage in CSAR。 well France Airforce have EC725. there Special Ops have some helicopter also some from AIrforce/Army so depend mission they can use many type helicopter,if needed they can ask from Airforce/Army too.
Empire Comes Back? UK Presses for Larger Military Presence in Asia

A joint exercise involving RAF Typhoon fighter jets in 2016 is regarded one of possibilities, a MoD online statement read. The anti-aircraft missile mentioned by Fallon is a new-generation design dubbed Joint New Air-to-Air Missile. Another area of cooperation is cyber-warfare – a joint UK-US-Japan project involving cyber-exercises is to be launched this year, as the MoD stayed.

Syrian Army progresses along 4 axes near Marj Al-Sultan Airport in rural Damascus SYRIA
One month after seizing the imperative Marj Al-Sultan Military Airport in the East Ghouta region of rural Damascus, the Syrian Arab Army’s 102nd Brigade and their 416th Regiment of the Republican Guard have advanced across several farms that were formerly under the control of Jaysh Al-Islam (Army of Islam) and Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group).
On Saturday morning, the Syrian Arab Army’s 102nd Brigade – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) – entered the small village of Hawash Al-Kharabo after a series of clashes with Jaysh Al-Islam that resulted in the pro-government forces seized the eastern poultry farms. As of Saturday, the Syrian Armed Forces are now advancing along 4 axes surrounding the Marj Al-Sultan Military Airport; this marks the first time since government forces lost the aforementioned airbase (mid-2012) that they have entered these parts of the East Ghouta.
According to a senior officer from the Syrian Arab Army in Damascus City, the Syrian Armed Forces are advancing at Al-Bilaliyah (east of Marj Al-Sultan), Al-Nashabiyah (northeast of Marj Al-Sultan), Hawash Al-Kharabo (northwest of Marj Al-Sultan), and Qantara (west of Marj Al-Sultan); these villages make up the 4 axes the Syrian Arab Army is advancing at near the Marj Al-Sultan Military Airport.
MANILA, Philippines – The Islamic State in Syria & Iraq, also known as ISIS, IS, ISIL, or Da'esch, its loose arabic acronym, may soon declare a wilayat or province in the southern Philippines. If so, it would be the first recognized satellite extension of the caliphate in Southeast Asia.
A new video from Mindanao which began circulating on the dark web jihadi forum Shumukh al-Islam on January 4, 2016 shows Abu Sayyaf leader Isnilon Hapilon marching with other extremist leaders from Sulu and Basilan, including Abu Sharifa, the leader of Ansar al-Khilafa, among the most aggressive and targeted Filipino groups linked to ISIS. The groups pledge allegiance to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
“The IS-initiated merger of the fighting formations and unifications of the leaders will present an unprecedented challenge to the Manila government,” terror expert Rohan Gunaratna told Rappler. MSDF to cover more of South China Sea - The Japan News
QUOTE
P-3C aircraft belonging to the Maritime Self-Defense Forces participate in multinational efforts to combat piracy off the coast of Somalia. They travel back and forth between Japan and Africa about every three months.
Previously, the aircraft refueled at bases relatively far from the South China Sea, in countries including Singapore and Thailand. But now outward journeys will remain the same, but return trips will give priority to refueling at bases around the South China Sea, such as those in Vietnam, the Philippines and Malaysia.

The Philippines’ Palawan, located near the Spratly Islands, and Malaysia’s Labuan, which faces the southern part of the South China Sea, are also being considered as ports of call.
Israeli medics, Syrian war victims forge unlikely bond

QUNEITRA OBSERVATION POINT—Wounds from the Syrian civil war bring them to the doorstep of a decades-old enemy.
Some have been shot. Others suffer burns from barrel-bomb explosions. Many have life-threatening wounds. Some cross the border in a state of hysteria; others are frightened they are about to be imprisoned by the Israeli army.
Instead, there are reassuring words in foreign-accented Arabic from Sgt. Michel Pushkov, a 21-year old medic. “Don’t worry. We’re friends. We’re going to take care of you.”
Personally i support RMN get NH90 as 6 ASW helicopter and pair with Gowind 。。。 For Army NH90 or AW101 also OK, if wan more bigger can can get Chinook. but many need consideration like Budget, support, operation cost etc。。。
Firstly what's the reasoning in getting NH-90? Does it perform better than Lynx? For helicopters in RMN, passenger capacity is secondary to its ability to perform both ASW and ASuW warfare.
Even in other branch of service, there are more suitable options than NH-90. Personally, I would prefer if the air force to get at least 36 EC-725 while the army gets AW-149 (since it shares logistical line as A-109)
cuz it looks like a pure projectile round, i dun see any way its "guided" or its even a "missile"
It use some sort of embedded vanes to control the flight direction. You notice the small explosion shortly after the projectile was launch. this i think is when the control vanes was deployed. After being propelled out of tank gun, the projectile simply use it's momentum to glide to it's target.

For army AW101 much cheaper plus slightly bigger, but last time correct me if im wrong i heard the reason the airforce chose EC725 over AW101 was due to Agusta bad support for army
Navy seeing one of world’s best submarine hunter helicopters in service
January 10, 2016 Caleb Velasquez
The Philippine Navy is seeing the AgustaWestland AW159 ‘Wildcat’ helicopter as its anti-submarine warfare (ASW) helicopters after the Department of National Defense announced that AgustaWestland is now undergoing post-qualification checks after being selected as the sole proponent in the government’s PhP5.4 billion ASW helicopter project.
The government is now conducting background check to determine the capability of the manufacturer to deliver the equipment on time and comply with the specifications requested by the contracting party. AgustaWestland was selected by the DND as the possible supplier of its two ASW helicopters late in 2015.
Wildcat, an improved version of Super Lynx, is an advanced multi-role, maritime and utility helicopter. It was designed to be housed in a frigate, offshore patrol vessel or corvette. Its intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance (ISTAR) capabilities are significantly upgraded.
According to a defense market analysts, AW159’s SELEX Galileo Seaspray 7000E active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar, sonar system, electro-optical device, ESM and countermeasure systems make it one of the best ASW helicopter in the world.
The ASW helicopter project is one of the seven military modernization projects which President Benigno S. Aquino III has given DND the green-light to go into a “multi-year contract” last November. Granting of the “multi-year contract” will allow to pursue the military modernization program beyond Aquino’s term, he added. with PNA
Germans ran into trouble with NH90 IINM (sorry they don't use EC725, its Brazil which uses a lot), the ramp was flimsy or something... maybe we have less trouble with Asian-sized troops
Since we're so buddy2 with US now apparently, why not try for Seahawks? As someone said earlier, don't have to buy French everything
