cat takes 1 year, if you pass all and take maximum of papers per round, aka,

p1-p5 in first half, p6-p10 (p6,p7 compulsory, and choose 2 out of 3 for p8-10)

and acca takes 2 years, 9 compulsory papers and 2 out of 4 optionals...
or you can be like me, and take maximum papers per semester, doing 4-4-3(with obu), to finish acca and get ur degree in 1 1/2 years. total time to clear will be 2 1/2 years, assumption smooth sailing.

Hello everyone,
Newbies here, and also attempt my first ACCA exam last June 07, unfortunately failed at at marks for paper 2.3-MYR Tax..sigh..

anyway, need comments and guidance from you all,
currently i'm self study for ACCA (due to the auditors' heavy working schedule and frequent outstation, makes me unable to attach to class)

i'm only attended Mr.Chin Ann's class last june07, and failed!

however, i wish to take this paper again...any recommend study material? (i'm not sure about whether there are changes to the new syllabus for this 2.3 or not...pls advise me as well)

and reading from the posts here, noted that Chong Kwai Fatt is teaching in Segi? is that true??? which Segi he is now teaching at??

i think im only able to go for intensive/revision class this round again...pls advise me to which lecturer shd i go to...and i wish to pass this round....thank god!!

thank you...hope to see replies very soon!!! *muackss*

not changes in syllabus that you should be worry about, but changes in public rulings irb always have time to time and also tax law surely examine. changes in tax law effect the syllabus, ie, i heard there is no more RPGT in F6 coz it has been temporarily not applicable in mys.

i recommend you to take mr simons class in sunway. i love his notes! he summarize everything in a very student friendly way, that it is possible for you to remember those tedious things to remember.
kwai fatt's textbook is good but very long winded la. honestly, i never use his textbook when i was in Simon's class and i pass! i rely 100% on Simon's teaching. you'll pass provided you never skip his class la!!

but i think now too late to enroll in sunway, maybe u can try talk to admin. good luck

Anywhere is also a good palce to study maa.. Yeah, having good lecturers is one thing, but you yourself have to put in the effort.. As for your questions, my friend told me it's a good place to study, but IMHO Sunway's the place place to study ACCA . Miss Rozi's (tax) & Miss Kiran's (audit) class rawx !! laugh.gif

Oh..Simon class, i heard that too, but it is too costly and i may not able to join every class if the time clashes with my business trip...that's why i didn't enrol!

Mr.choong kwai fatt is teaching in Segi KL? hmm.. i think i may go for his revision class, no choice...poor thing!!!

i really wish i can pass F6 this round, hope nothing goes wrong.

anyway, mind to share how to score for this paper?? my friend told me that my scores of 40 is mainly weak in answering theory questions...any tricks or method to score in this theory question??

Also, any recommended book for the fast learning for malaysian tax??? choong kwai fatt's book?? but im currently only have MR. alan Yeo's book which borrowed from my friend, but it is kinda "thick"...hard to digest =p

please advise...
thanks!!

hahaha, exactly, kinda pity her, but that's the problem, barriers to change too high, so got strategic drift, so she's lidat now..

i had a diploma from local public uni, then i continue acca. during sam break, i gatal2 look for job, get an offer in audit firm in for basic salary 1300 as account assistant. not bad le.

cat is just a cert, ppl that take cat have in mind to pursue acca after dat, if your mum dont think she want to take acca, diploma is slightly better, it all depends on what u want le.

may i recommend yr mum to take degree after that. me study full time, no kids, only pet cats also think acca is really hard and 6 mths to study is not enough. plus degree, your result based on breakdowns of assignments, progress tess and final. sometime, before u seat final, base on yr assignments and stuff thru out sam, u know u'll pass or not.

edit : double post
