opss, tht link has been posted before if not mistaken, paiseh .. didnt bookmark it last time tongue.gif

seems like if im using kansai thru pass, most of the train are local category right? so I don have to make seat reservation even when travel from osaka to kyoto (Yodoyabashi - Gion-shijo) using KTP right (according to hyperdia, keihan line no seat reservation). I only have to reserve seats when travel from kyoto to tokyo using Shinkasen.

No need to reserve also ok..can stand haha..for Tokaido line from Osaka to Tokyo, normally train no 1 to 5 are for none reserved seats.

During my trip, most of reserved ticket sold out so I hv to que @ non reserved cabins. Haizzz.. there were times I hv to stand esp from hiroshima to okayama b4 getting empty seats..

However if u are going to Nagano those trains are seperated by reserved & non reserved type.

Que at the non-reserved cabin? like how? 1 long line along the aisle and the front person gets to sit first even though the empty seat is at the last row?

First in line means you get to go in first and pick the best seat. But since train have a lot of doors some ppl might come in the opposite direction.

Just Q to get into train cabin. Even seat is full still can standing. Until it really full then officer only stop people continue going in. My record was from Tokyo standing all the way to Akita.
This is non reserve seat fun part.
