Unsure if its the right question here, but do Japan have any regulation for bringing powerbanks in?

Also, like is there any limit for bringing in powerbanks?
I plan to bring my 20,000mAH xiaomi powerbank.

anyone has any experiences bringing powerbanks?

i tried google it but i get lots of different explanation so would like to know from experienced people =)
*
Wrong place to ask. By the way,
Powerbank are not set by Country law, they are set by Airline Company it self. Most airline set 40,000mAh maximum per person. No airline in world allow Powerbank put in checked in luggage. Powerbank only allow handcarry luggage. Do not put ur powerbank in checked in luggage.

Recently saw few documentary regarding the happen of the earthquake and tsunami, and also regarding the cleaning of the nuclear leak
it was a nightmare.
Thanks to the cleaning team for the hard work, it make sure the sea water is not polluted, and surrounding area now are clean in within 5 years

those who keep saying visit Japan will get radioactive what shit, please go learn before you comment
Sry nop.
Radioactive need 1000 years only can clean. There a town (Tomioka) near Fukushima Daichi already become ghost town like Chernobyl.

All fishing at Fukushima region sea are ban for 30 years by Govt. Water are seriously polluted.

If you look carefully, All Tokyo high rise and park have radioactive detector.

City can be rebuild, but pollution are seriously big lesson for Japanese. For those going Japan sure need bare your own risk. If scare then just dont go.

have a few questions though and hope you guys can help out...

1. any recommendations for hotels/inns? budget wise RM550 in tokyo & RM450 in kyoto/osaka per night...
My No.1 choice Hotel at Japan are APA Hotel , Dormy Inn , Toyoko Inn. There are cheap and always near to Train Station.
If you want to have great Breakfast then Dormy Inn are top of top. If want comfort than APA Hotel.  Toyoko Inn are between this 2. 50/50

2. any recommendation for a decent affordable ryokan with kaiseki (1 ngiht)? budget wise RM450 per pax...
Google Map, Copy paste this >> 京町家旅館さくら
One of my favorite. Near Kyoto Station, Inside Kyoto most famous ryokan Street.

3. transport wise is it worth getting the jr pass? based on what i read i think single purchases might suit the plan...any advise here?
Nop, Single Journey only not worth the money. Plus Tokyo , Kyoto and Osaka are JR Killer. JR train are very useless in this 3 Cities.

4. apart from the portable wifi listed here have you guys heard of http://www.travelrecommends.com/? pretty decent rental fee just curious of quality...

thanks in advance for any tips and help...

cheers...

RC, you should take a look on how they clean the area, how many effort they have made to make sure polluted water not leak into the sea
now technology is not like previous, they can purify the polluted water.
they dig the polluted soil and package it, keep it in monitored warehouse.
below is the documentary video, the video quality is not good
you may refer to the source: Discovery Channel: fukushima: on the frontline with Joel Lambert

*
Those all tipu bullshit.
When media comes they sure show how good and clean or else no ppl will come visit Japan. The real fact are deep shit. Now they can do is keep monitoring, that why Tokyo city now full of that radiation detector. The sea part already leak, nothing you can do. What they doing are prevent more going into sea only. If water is clean govt wont ban fishing at fukushima sea for 30 years.
What you see is video which already edited by Govt. What I see is my own eye.

What they do is try best to keep it control. The effort they put into control part are best. That one no doubt, they even using their own life to keep control it. But want to keep it back to before 3.11 will be impossible. The Radiation will stay in Japan for 1000 Years and City of Tomioka will be 2nd Chernobyl City forever.

BTW, The topic have to put into Ends. It recall back all my sad memory only, I am one of Victim of 3.11.
From V4 to V8 anytime I see people post ; Japan save for going? I always put reply ''Just go don't care so much, If Scare then don't go" I never put Japan is clean, because from my 505th trip to Japan experience, It will never be clean again like before the disaster 3.11.

Hi RegentCID,

I understand you say if scared then just don't go because the risk is there. I would like to hear from you you opinion whether if we go to just Osaka and Kyoto, which are both further south west, is it considered safe? At least relatively safer compared to Tokyo? Or no difference which city because risk is not quantifiable as we do not know the exact extent of damage?

BTW, what happened on that day? You said u almost died? Were you exposed to the radiation or was it the tsunami?
*
Kansai Area are even far away from Fukushima daici compare to Tokyo. Radiation will be even more less. Cannot say 0% It will be there...but more less.
Radiation always there. Even you using computer, hand phone also got radiation.
Almost dead because when Tsunami comes I was at Sendai near Airport area. One of deadliest zone.

ok. my plan for the night is:

from my hotel (nearby tokyo dome) -> akihabara -> shinjuku -> Tokyo Metropolitan Goverment Building -> Harajuku -> Shibuya -> tokyo dome -> back to hotel.

is it too rush for a trip from around 6-7pm?

any suggestions to improvise?
*
Too rush. Tokyo most shop closed at 8pm, mall closed at 10pm. You start your trip at 6pm, one akibahara enough keep you stay until 10pm. Your plan are suitable for one whole day.
Unless you reach station take some picture then hop into another station.

or you have better suggestion?  notworthy.gif

6pm to 10pm only 4 hour.
Shinjuku , Shibuya are big area. One of this place enough let you spend 4 hour.

I suggest you go only Shinjuku, because Tokyo Metropolitan Building are nearby. 6 to 10 enjoy Shinjuku. 10 to 10:30 enjoy view on Tokyo Metropolitan Tower. 10:30 until 11:00 Tokyo Dome (your hotel nearby)b

For me I alone can spend 4 hour just inside Shinjuku Station. If want cover entire Shinjuku (my knowledge) need 30 hour

QUOTE(tohff7 @ Mar 17 2016, 08:01 AM)
Just a quick question. I'm planning to visit Hakone and Kawaguchiko using Fuji Hakone pass. Will be staying one night at Hakone and Kawaguchiko.

Which route is better, Shinjuku-Kawaguchiko-Hakone or Shinjuku-Hakone-Kawaguchiko?

I was just wondering whether i can maximise my trip because i will likely be staying in Gora, which is midway of the Hakone loop. Or is this not a valid concern since it won't take a long time to complete the loop in one-day (assuming i start early from Tokyo)?
*
QUOTE(ZeroSP @ Mar 17 2016, 08:36 AM)
At a glance, would say Shinjuku to Hakone first, cause can go by Odakyu Odawara Line.

To me though, IMHO staying 1 night each at Hakone and Kawaguchiko is quite redundant.
*
As Pro, I will go Lake Kawaguchiko first.
Main purpose of going Lake Kawaguchiko are see & taking Mt Fuji picture.
Sure put at first. If unlucky, 1st day reaching are raining, foggy , Misty. 2nd day at Hakone still can slot a time back to Lake Kawaguchiko by bus again for snap the picture of Mt Fuji.
Since got the Pass, not need worry the transportation. If you put Lake Kawaguchiko at last. If the weather is fxxx up type then your only chances also no more.

Ask sifu, is my plan good enough for the whole day? This is just one of the day on my trips. I'm going to arashiyama and here's the plan

Arashiyama Bamboo groove -> torokko arashiyama to kameoka then back to sagano station -> walk around arashiyama area (most likely nearby tenryuji and sanjodori) and having lunch there -> ryoanji ->kinkakuji -> kitatenmangu
*
1st thing, There are not such thing called Sagano Station.
For me, My Plan will be From JR Kyoto Station taking JR Sagano Line Line to JR Saga Arashiyama Station.
Then Switch to Sagano Scenic train from Torokko Saga Station to Torokko Arashiyama Station (Enjoy the Bamboo Groves)
Back to Torokko Arashiyama Station again continue by Sagano Scenic train to Torokko Kameoka Station. (Taking Bus to Hozugawa River Cruise Depature Point)
Enjoy the Hozugawa River Cruise to the End Point. (Arashiyama famous Togetsukyo Bridge will beside cruise ending point)
Enjoy Lunch at Page1 (My Arashiyama Tips of the months)
Enjoy Tenryuji Temple.
Back to Kyoto

QUOTE(stinger @ Mar 17 2016, 11:09 AM)
hi guys,

My fujigoko 1 day trip plan during red leave season:

Chureito Pagoda --> Kachi Kachi ropeway ---> Kawaguchiko = 1 day, sounds good?

Is there anything else to do on night aside from strolling at lakeside / go onsen? Plan to stay there 1 night.
*
Cycling around Lakeside at night
Go those local Izakaya. Enjoy food and beer.
Last was Onsen at Hotel // Ryokan enjoying view of Mt Fuji + Lake.

If want extreme then go Page 1 Tips of the Months section with that 1000 Yen bill.
Cycling + Do Camping.

hey guys...

would getting the Tokyo Metro Subway Pass for say 3 days worthwhile (1500 Yen)? i'll b in tokyo for 4 full days...
*
This one very complicated like JR rail pass.
You have to buy exchange order at Malaysia. Then exchange it at Major Metro Station. Cannot get directly.

The easy one was one day pass.
1500yen per day. Need show passport only.

Tokyo Metro price are very cheap. Actually just need Suica or Pasmo. More worth the money.

Sorry guys, would like to ask which JR pass should I purchase if I'm only travelling within Tokyo and Osaka? As I'll be taking the bus to travel from Osaka to Tokyo, however, places like USJ would need to take JR line as well. I'm already quite confused with all the train passes @@

Is there any pass that can cover the whole in one?
*
No need any JR Rail Pass. If you traveling from Tokyo to Osaka one way only.
Want saving hotel money and JR Rail Pass money. Try the Willer Express (Info at Page1)
At Osaka taking that exclusive JR Yumesaki line from Osaka Station to USJ Station just around 200 Yen per way only. It can be done by Icoca card or Pasmo card or Suica card.

Don't forget sunblock.
And Those tips of months at page 1.

Can go Lake kawaguchiko when you at Yamanashi. If too hot, then go shopping at Gotemba Premium Outlet.
Yamanashi most activities are outdoor and it will be very endurance task on summer. Seriously hot.

Not a big fans of sweets. Very limited info I have.
Kakigori can try Momijiya Near Umejima Station (Tokyo)
This shop catch my interesting was the water they used.
They used pure mountain snow + waterfall water from Nikko
