I think our car definitely need camber screw? Been reject this to ALL tyre shop, EVERY tyre shop I went sure will ask camber screw. Some even adjusted the alignment lari so much that my reverse will get into b another side and almost bang the gate when the steering is straight... Return back they will say no camber mar, it's like that...
Meantime another few cars in house never got asked for camber screw... Makes me wonder is camber really necessary?

Today service my persona at mileage 70k. Total damaged:

Engine oil and oil filter        rm140.00
Atf proton sp iii. 5L            rm110.00
Brake pad front proton        rm  40.00
Fan belt/v belt.                  rm100.00
Labour                              rm 80.00
                            Total.    rm470.00
Changing Steering oil - use leftover gear oil

Next service is time to change timing belt.

Front brake pad is genuine proton? RM40 is cheap.

QUOTE(Khoiyat @ Jun 21 2016, 05:19 PM)
Hey guys, can anyone tell me does the strong engine braking effect occur especially down hill occur in the persona and the throttle delay especially from standstill? I question this because my gen2 2004 1.6 auto have this characteristic which is very annoying. Not sure whether the campro iafm have a better tuning on the engine and throttle.
*
I'm owning gen2 and has same down-slope gear downshift effect, already used to it, just press little bit accelerator pedal it will upshift back...

recently i've sit in colleague's persona SV. the engine is very very quiet compare to my gen2, even when my gen2 is new also engine sounds louder. Either I did not realise the same gear downshift effect or it does not do that during our journey to KL sentral through Mahameru highway (which my gen2 for sure will downshift).

Proton oem brake pad made by mintye.
Used for 1 week already. Performe better than the previous one (dont know what brand coz car purchased second hand).
*
i think this proton-mintye is slightly better than the stock original proton-bosch come with car, which emits brake dust like smoking. it made my rims looks smoking black after 1 week of usage. also it has causes my brake disc uneven and require skimming next time... my rear brake pad replaced with this proton-mintye @ RM80 perform better now.

my persona vs stock brake pads are from Bosch, dusty and noisy, very bad quality. I have changed all 4 pads to a new brand, much better.
*
yes, same here... usually the myth is dusty brake pad are softer and gentle to brake disc. but this ori proton-bosch still damaging the brake disc and noisy at times, very contradict to common "myth".

it's not the first time we heard persona/gen2 having engine died/stalled on the way to genting... but none have reported whether their issue was fixed and root cause...

few days back sent my car to potong sc for alignment, balancing, and rotate tyre after observe some member praise their alignment is ok...
after got back my car feel the steering is lighter, and tyre is noisier, i thought it could be the rear tyre is like that, and now shift to front only i hear it. drive highway car is floating, then i guess tyre pressure could be overfilled so went to petrol station. to my surprise the meter showing around 46psi for both front tyre, and rear were 42psi. quickly suck out those excessive air and car back to normal (set front 35psi rear 33psi since tyres hot). when back home recheck again using tyre gauge front 37psi and rear 35psi so release air again.

any specific reason/recipe why potong sc overfilling tyre by such huge margin? i'm lucky the tyre didn't blew when on highway..

Just now they call me ask feedback, I terus complain this problem.. I'm not frustrated but more intend for them to take action to avoid possible tyre burst for others.
But the other party sounds like robot replying "official answer" sort of (if you encountered any further issue, please do not hesitate to contact us again...)

only check pressure when the tyre is cold, the reason why the reading is 37psi when check is home due to hot air being develop during driving.
*
i observed usually 3-4 psi more when hot, so 37 psi - 3 = 34 when cold, still a bit too high isn't it? usually i set 30-32 psi when cold

Can I just buy the mirror instead of the entire thing?

Dunno which celaka went and took it out

Last time at spare part shop saw the shop owner selling mirror only for iswara, for persona I'm not sure. You best bet is to ask a few spare part/accessories shop. Can try luck at Proton SC also...

i never find any this problem on net, at autoworld forum got one, but no solution, thats many years back

Try search in mudah, there's one selling recond/repaired aircond panel. i trade-in and change mine 1 year back there.
so far ok but the knob were abit loose compare to my original unit, but cost saving so no complain. rclxms.gif

QUOTE(J Camp @ Sep 11 2016, 04:44 PM)
just want to give a short review between persona elegance b-line and the persona sv model.
having both models in my house right now.

b-line is ard 5 years old while the persona sv is ard 3 months.

in terms of accessories, sv model got:

driver seat height adjuster
rear seat adjustable head rest
foldable rear seats
back pocket for the front seat

the sv seats are also much more comfortable than the b-line (to my surprise actually). maybe proton added extra foam?

also the sv engine is also much quieter than the b-line.

not sure what have proton done to the seats and engine noise...maybe some of you guys can give your feedback here.
*
yes, sit my colleague's "Sacrificed Value" Persona before, engine is very silent and feel much refined than ordinary persona hatchback.

it seems like everyone I know uses tap water. Even mechanics just pour tap water inside my car during service???

Ok distilled water I can buy from petronas. Coolant got any recommendations?? What ratio should I put?

If now I check my radiator the liquid is brownish in color means got rust right, what do I do first??
*
1 thing i dislike ordinary mechanic - always pour tap water and overfilling the spare tank to the cover cap! especially foreign worker with those "tidak apa" attitude. mad.gif
the consequence - rusty radiator and component, overheating due to non-efficient radiator or leaking. once you saw rusty brown water, it's too late already. the rust will spread like cancer to other component - radiator, thermostat, water pump, engine water jacket etc...

sorry to say, i used to own old car with rusty water after i took over ownership. the rust matter wouldn't stop even though i tried numerous flush, drain and fill coolant + RO water. some time you might see the water is coolant color, but once take deeper look, arrgh those rust on the bottom surface. the rust problem never completely cure during the 10 years of ownership, till the radiator starts leaking badly and that's time when I sold it off.

I use petronas 2*500ml for the coolant + RO water, usually flush in 3 years/40,000km...

don't know what's went wrong, now half of my aircond air is blowing to the knee area. playing around the direction knob does have effect, but it will still have air leaking out from knee area no matter how. now hot day will be sweating as lesser air on the usual top area. Help!

anyone mixed battery water and coolant for the radiator before? trying to find distilled water but they said battery water is distilled water.. then i read the contents it has some other minerals..  hmm.gif
*
Must be careful some battery water is plain distilled water, some might have acid pre-mix?
Usually I'm using Drinking Water with Reverse Osmosis process from hypermarket, those big bottle tesco or others. so far so good no rust as I always mix with coolant.
