Hey guys, can anyone tell me does the strong engine braking effect occur especially down hill occur in the persona and the throttle delay especially from standstill? I question this because my gen2 2004 1.6 auto have this characteristic which is very annoying. Not sure whether the campro iafm have a better tuning on the engine and throttle.
*
I think Persona does not have this feature, or it's not as aggressive/prominent. My car does not hesitate to upshift when going downhill w/o any throttle input.

QUOTE(neochaser5 @ Jun 22 2016, 01:18 PM)
Not sure if this is the right channel to ask but I'll fire away anyway. I bought an FM transmitter to use with my persona and i noticed that there is a static sound whenever my aircon fires up. I have tried changing frequencies and even we had used another fm transmitter from a friend but the static is still there.

Anyone who had the same issue before? Thanks in advance.
*
QUOTE(The_FQ400 @ Jun 23 2016, 09:19 PM)
my cheapo one doesnt have static  hmm.gif
*
Why do you guys need an FM transmitter? hmm.gif I thought the PE's HU comes with a built-in AUX port?

QUOTE(voscar @ Jun 23 2016, 12:03 AM)
Front brake pad is genuine proton? RM40 is cheap.
I'm owning gen2 and has same down-slope gear downshift effect, already used to it, just press little bit accelerator pedal it will upshift back...

recently i've sit in colleague's persona SV. the engine is very very quiet compare to my gen2, even when my gen2 is new also engine sounds louder. Either I did not realise the same gear downshift effect or it does not do that during our journey to KL sentral through Mahameru highway (which my gen2 for sure will downshift).
*
I think the Persona Elegance has much better soundproof than the older models and the Gen 2 campro. The SV I drove had less engine noise compared to mine even though mine has had expensive additives added to it.

agree with the part where it gets dimmer when you switch on the lights but mine is weird the dashboard lights up when I turn key Acc on not even start yet. and then after start its gets a bit brighter.  sweat.gif

Yours is Persona or Persona Elegance? If Persona Elegance then some parts of the meter will be lit up. If Persona I think you should get it checked.

I am selling all four of my tyres + rims as I am selling my car in a few days time.

Tyres: Yokohama Advan DB 195/60R15
Mileage: <12000KM (Sorry, don't exactly remember but it's definitely still fairly new).
Purchase date: 14 October 2015
Manufacturing Date: November 2014 if I'm not mistaken, which means they're almost 2 years old in actual age.

I bought each of the tyre at RM260 new (RM1040 for 4). I think RM130 per tyre (RM520 for 4) is a good price considering their age and mileage. For the rims which I bought used last time, I think RM300 for all 4 is a good price. hmm.gif They're in good shape as far as I know. Some scratches here and there. So total I'm looking or hoping for is around RM820 for the tyres + rims. Anyone interested please drop me a message.

If you're interested in buying the tyres only I can arrange for that, but I will only sell them in pairs, and preferably all four together.

Edit: No swapping cause I've already got my old Kumho KH17s and steel rims to replace the alloy rims.

Yeah o. The highest I was offered is only RM15k for a 2010 Persona B-Line. I still haven't sold it though, probably will hand it over on the day of new car collection which is probably on Saturday.

Hello, may i know if i open my car rear bonnet and arm the alarm. And my alarm not trigger. Is it the cble from the latch got issue?
*
Yes. I had this problem before, which I thought was linked to the boot's bulb. But as it turns out the wire that gives info about the boot open/close status is broken, which according to EA Auto is caused by it being squashed between the boot and the body every time we open and close the boot.

It is an easy fix. You just need to remove the rubber shield which "snaps" onto the car's body and you should be able to spot the wire in question..

Do you know how much the wire? Just change the cable will do?
*
Just connect the broken parts using a wire. You can solder or go the easy way of twisting and taping. The wire should be cheap.

I try to replace the whole cable, find few sparepart shop dont have. Do shah alam Proton spare part got this?
*
Not sure, cause the fix for my car was just a normal piece of electrical wire which is available in most electrical/electronics hardware store to connect the broken ends together.

okay... now my persona i little bit problem with the fuel gauge... i just fill up the car petrol, instead the gauge straight show to F, the gauge is slowly increasing ( it take time). is my fuel gauge spoilt?.. not sure u guys understand me or not T.T
*
I had this a few times too. The petrol pump doesn't want to dispense anymore but the fuel gauge says there's only 80% of fuel only. It slowly went up to the max position after a short time.

QUOTE(Xefron @ Jul 20 2016, 09:30 AM)
approximately how much the cost to change timing belt/v belt and water pump and all the ancillaries ?
*
1k+ if everything is done at a Proton SC. About Rm500 ~ RM600 for aftermarket parts including engine oil, FEAD belt and water pump change.

QUOTE(advocado @ Jul 24 2016, 12:31 PM)
Anyone had their head gasket changed? how many km & year did you do it?

Mine had leaking engine oil but not severe just stains. less than 40k km.
*
I think the leak is probably from the rocker cover. The fix is around RM100 or less including labour, seal and sealant.

QUOTE(advocado @ Jul 24 2016, 12:58 PM)
people say without chamber nut you can adjust it +-5deg. does this apply to most cars?
*
Don't think so. 5 degree is also extreme and probably impossible without getting into a bad accident or replacing some parts of the suspension.

Full tank persona elegance H-line only can go 410km+- normal or not?  Anyone know how much a 2012 persona H-line can sell nw?
*
Kinda normal. This "full tank" is roughly around 35L ~ 37L right? The used car dealer took my 2010 Persona B-Line Pre Facelift for 15k. H-Line probably at least 20k?

My reading this currently at 8.6L/100km. So I guess its normal
Shud be around 35-37L .. it's normal then...do u think still possible to fetch around 24-25k? Since new persona just launched, might have impact on our car value.
*
Not sure. Have to get the used car dealer to give you a value, but I don't think it will be 24 to 25k. If they want a profit margin of around 3k they will have to sell the car at over 28k, which may be very difficult.

Think I found the source. Its the door plastic sheet gum malfunction. Need get it replace. Any idea where to get it replaced? Black colour gam. There is a small gap that causes water to leak
*
Go to any spare parts shop and ask for windscreen sealant. It's between RM10~RM20. Don't use it too liberally or you'll have a big and hard to clean mess.

QUOTE(dinnor @ Dec 5 2016, 04:01 PM)
hi, ever heard about JTX lubricant oil? it's good to use for my persona SV year 2014 ?
before this i'm using petronas lubricant oil..

or got any other suggestion?
*
I personally wouldn't touch any lubes from a company that sells save fuel stickers. Try brands like Petro Canada, Liqui Moly, Millers, Mobil etc.

QUOTE(Spot23 @ Jan 3 2017, 06:35 PM)
Hi all
Can i know how much do the front brake pads cost?
I changed it recently at the service centre n was charged about 400 which i thought was very exp for a proton
*
There are options for less than RM100 if you're on a budget, but it's not recommended given the poor braking performance. The cost of changing at a service centre is high because you're buying original parts, and their prices are normally marked up by a huge margin. The original brake pads from protong aren't special in any way besides having warranty if you have them replaced at a service centre, so just get it from one of the many sellers in this forum or from a spare parts shop next time.
