I hv a big spanner, is lockring is standard size for all bikes? Or bike specific?

I saw on YouTube like that tool(cassette holder)+ spanner only sweat.gif

Sorry totally noob on bike, used to just let bike shop fix everything.

Get the Shimano type and it should fit. Presumably you have a cassette, not a freewheel?

Still no answer from anyone yet?  blush.gif  Many members here are polite. From here I hope you can deduct what the opinions are.  icon_rolleyes.gif

LOL! Aso-what???

Very simple, so such thing as free lunch. You pay for what you get!

Having said that, I got a quote for a Kinetix Comp front wheel for my Dahon TR from US dealer, Thor USA. RM495........ just for the one front wheel. And you can buy a whole Chinese bike for less. Which is better value hmm.gif

This was my first folding bike many years ago. Aomei-what???

Bought it because it was cheap. When it arrived, I knew it was a monkey bike, and even monkeys would refuse to ride it. Didn't ride well, didn't fold well, didn't brake well.....just a disaster! What a waste of materials used in producing it.

I told my wife to ride to the shops one day. It was downhill most of the way. She then had to push most of the way home with all the groceries and cursed me all the way home, hahahahaha!!!! I gave it away for a kid to use. So it was cheap, but what for?? LOL

OK. Ok. Thx sifu for clear thing out. So 9 speed cassette n chain together, silly me.

Just remember the RD is dumb and controlled by the shifter. If you want to learn, try it and see what happens. Nothing is going to break.

Did you widened the frame by 20mm? Wow, that's a lot!

I'd be interested to know if these bikes ride as well as the modern ones. The frames are very heavy it seems.

Ok denyhazrin, please tell us what it is like owning an older Dahon. Good and bad points. What it is like to ride compared to a modern Dahon?

Thanks!

Ok, I don't know how you guys do it. I hired a bike to cycle around in Georgetown this morning at 10am and it soooo hot. I was completely drenched in just an hour, and the traffic was so bad. Wanted to cycle by the ocean but ran out of time. I think I'll bring my own bike next time.
Dropped by Chin Aik. Nice shop but no parts for upgrades?

I don't know bout Penang but these 3 days in KL were hotter than usual during the day, like hot hot heaty.  tongue.gif for me, cycle to office is in early morning, still sweating though and when go back home is already evening, so I get to avoid the sun. Traffic wise...hmmm sad but true. no other way round I guess.
Cycling on a busy road is stressful esp when you are fighting for space with buses, cars and motorcycles. Georgetown is an old place and there will never be enough room for a bike lane. Some streets have so many tourists walking around that they should really close them off to traffic. Dangerous mix.

Very nice  nod.gif , may I know if those wheels are strong enuf, I mean will it easily bend, compare to the regular 20/28 one?
*
Durability wise, the regular spoked wheels would be better. If you want lightest and "fastest" then these ones lor.
I prefer regular well maintained wheelset but good bearings are the most important to me.

If you like the design, there's one set for sale for RM700 in BBS. Taken out from the Dahon MU SLX. He didn't mention it but I can recognise the white rims. It's cheap if you ask me as the Kinetic Pro is about 2K now and the Litepro similar version slightly above 1K. There's also a set of Machete wheelset in BBS which is quite popular in Singapore.

The rims are made stronger for the lesser spokes but the lesser spokes makes it very hard to true back again if it is knocked hard!  icon_rolleyes.gif

Sold maybe? Can't see it?

Hi
Have a question for Wheels sifu....
I came across a set of Kinetix Comp wheelset, but unlike the one on my SpeedTR, these are black with WTB label on the rim. The are the same as the Speed P8. Why do they call it Kinetix Comp??
Anyway it was cheap so I bought it. Comes with Schwalbe Big Apple tyres which is a bonus!

Those mentioned are better rims than the present Kinetixes. Dahon contracted Kinetix to supply their double walled wheelsets and in turn Kinetix was made by WTBs. Firstly in USA then moved to Taiwan. Later Kinetix changed their OEM supplier to China's manufacturers and hence WTBs do not make Kinetix anymore. The squarish Kinetix Comp are better quality than the present ones shodded in Dahons or Terns which if I am not mistaken made by Vuelta. When Dahon and Tern were haggling over Kinetix as supplier, Dahon uses wheelsets that were made in China and those were Dahon's lousy days. The Verge uses Kinetix Pro the last time.

Don't worry, you made a good deal!  thumbup.gif

Thank you sifu. Don't know the history so that was very helpful. I couldn't resist not buying, only rm250 for the set including tyres! From memory, the set I bought from Taobao before was US100, just the wheels.
I think I have bought enough parts to fill my suitcase, haha!

Sifu Ettige told me to contact Rodalink when I was looking for a non Dynamo front wheel. Spoke to Sam at Botanic but he didn't have any. I later spoke to See Chun and he mentioned this wheelset available on promotion, so I grabbed it. They also have a front Kinetix Comp Dynamo wheel which is the exact wheel I have, so I bought it also as a spare 😁
Johnny at MBS at Bandar Utama has Kinetix Pros, nice but I didn't want to spend that much!
