Working in commercial after another 6 months - 1 year after the exam? Or right after your exam? You could do so but expect to start from entry level as I think the 6months - 1 year experience as external auditor doesn't really taken into account, think you would have much more bargaining power if it's a two years experience instead of just one. Then, expect to explain about your reasons for having that window between jobs.

I see... Now, I just think of trying to work in Big 4 Audit Firm for 1 year first (I joined one of the Big 4 since Oct 2022, with previous audit internship exp in small audit firm for 6 months), then is it possible the commercial to accept me in with the worst-case scenario 1.5 years working exp (1 yr full time audit, 6 months audit internship exp). If after 1 year, i still can tahan, and getting even stronger, then 2 or 3 years there will not be a problem...

As for the window gap, let's see how first, after knowing that I think better dun have window gap, ahahahahah.

(P/S Other topic: I dunno if in Commercial mmg got time to do revision for the remaining papers of ACCA or not)

Well, tbh, from my hearings of friends around me, I would say that the culture of firm or even team would likely affect your experience in any firm, Big 4 especially, with the fact that you actually okay with nature of audit work.

Then in terms of joining commercial or not, I think you could take more time to think through what you want to achieve, as there are lot of choices out there with joining commercial - AR/AP, finance related etc. Other services within Big 4 - Tax (Corp, Ind or TP), Risk advisory (internal audit similarly), Accounting services (accounting standard advises), Financial Advisory (M&A, Valuation, ICP, Econ); or other professional services firms. I would say there are actually many choices out there, do not limit your paths especially when you’re still fresh and thinking where’s next to head, try explore more to have better picture.

In terms of time for study, there are some companies actually provide study leave for you to pursue professional qualifications, so you could just check with HR / during interview and it could be one of your consideration factors in selecting companies.

Not if you are living in KlangValley. You definitely can't afford multiple mortgages with that salary alone.

I know that the BIG 4 have recently increased the starting pay of audit associates to around 4k. What is the pay range for the advisory/ consulting line now and has it also seen an increase?

4.5 - 5k for starting pay in consulting. But recently a lot freeze hiring. Accenture Consulting Malaysia is having huge VSS activities lately.

I'm seeing a lot of audit related posts, just wondering which big4 is better for internship and also management trainee programs for fresh grads. I'm about to enter my second year of undergrad in IT and was in medical school for three years (lol). Any heads up for someone like me looking for advisory/strategy consulting in tech or healthcare?

Hi. My son just completed the first 9 ACCA papers, and thinking of applying to audit firms. Should he apply for internship or for associate position?

Thanks.

It is encouraged to take AAA while you are study part time while working in audit line in any Big 4 or Big 10 or any small audit firms. As the AAA paper of ACCA will help in grasping the fundamental knowledge in audit while you are working in audit. I am also taking it currently as I will be sitting for my AAA (Advanced Audit and Assurance) exam in this June. Hoewever, it is strongly encourage to take SBR first before taking AAA, as AAA will require quite extensive IFRS knowledge from SBR, especially when answering for the audit risks and audit completion review question.

Hopefully this two cents of mine will help... All the best in ACCA, and cheers.

Well that depends too... If he is lack of money and/or wishing to step into society slightly earlier then yes, he may choose to do so. However, if he is not having any financial problem, then he may choose to complete the remaining last 4 papers first, then only starts working.

As for my case, I took Accounting Degree in a Public University of Malaysia, which granted me 9 papers of exemption, and I only managed to start my remaining 4 papers at the final sem final year of my degree. Hence, I had to part time study for the 3 remaining papers (I passed 1 before start working) as I found myself a bit late to step into society due to I went to Form 6 + Malaysia Public University (quite a long process but the cheapest way of education to get a degree).

Afterall, it is all depends on him, the remaining 4 papers for him will be able to be completed within 2 years one...

This is my another 2 cents, hope this will give you an insight.

EY A1 salary is 4300. A2 4500. S1 5500. S2 6300. S3 I not sure. But there is a big jump for manager. M1 is 10k. This is after the salary adjustment last year October.
I heard PWC is having higher salary. Anyone know how much for PWC S1 ? I wanna change to pwc

Finishing 9 Fundamental Paper of ACCA do granted you similar qualification as per Degree holder. Therefore he should be applying for Associate position.

If he keen in getting into Big 4 or Mid Tiers firms and getting greater chances to get into those sizable firms, finishing ACCA do granted him a better chances.

Hope this clarified with my 2 cent of opinion.

Hi, anyone working as contract 1 year in big 4?

Mind share your experience and whether it’s worth taking the job?

Thanks

Oof Contract means that the economy is uncertain and on a downturn. The last time, they offered 1 year contract was in early 2020. However, it doesn't really matter, as fresh graduates will still have to go through 3 months' probation despite being given a permanent contract. It is just that your probation period is 1 year and you have to perform well for a longer period to stay.
