not that i am aware of... my info might be a outdated tongue.gif

from what i know, they just deduct the years of experience claimed depending on whether they decide you have a major or minor in IT
*
A friend's son with an it degree from an onshore Oz uni was declined accreditation by ACS, citing a rule of needing to have one year Oz work experience....and he was unable to get a full it job on his post study work visa....

Catch 22 as it's almost impossible to get an it job without a pr....and cannot apply for pr without ACS accreditation...

that's something new... cos i thought the worst that could happen is just no points for work experience, but an outright decline seems a bit harsh...
i'd expect that he will still be getting 15 points for his degree, 25 points for his age and maybe 20 points for his IELTS... that's still eligible for a subclass 190 with NIL work experience

i remembered someone pointed out that the 2 year graduate visa is nothing more than a long period work holiday kind of visa...
*
You cannot apply for 189/190 without accreditation with ACS....you will not get the 15 points....

He gets another 5 points for Oz qualification...but will not make 60 even with IELTS band 8....

And I said that....lol.... pretty useless if it doesn't help you get the visa that matters....even the now defunct 457 is no good if you can't get on to a 189....

Why do you all feel you need to go through an agent, instead of doing yourselves? All information are available on the DIBP websites anyway....

Hi all, I'm looking to apply for temporary graduate visa soon but I have some generic questions and I have no idea who to look for. My questions may be generic but I fear I have to go through a painstaking process for migration agent advice etc. I just want to know

Is it possible to apply for a temporary graduate visa after my student visa expires? The website says possible but I will need to be on a bridging A visa. However, bridging A is granted to you after lodging a visa application so I'm really confused now. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
*
You should preferably apply for the graduate visa before your student visa expires, which normally is 3 months from the end of the studies....if your graduate visa is not issued before the student visa expires, you will then get on the bridging visa a.

You can of course apply after your student visa expires.... note that you cannot leave the country while on the bridging visa a....well you can but you will not be allowed back after....

Hello guys!

I've spent 10 days in Melbourne and will be leaving tomorrow morning. Back to KL, sigh. Met up with a couple of friends that are now living here and i feel so envious of them.

I graduated from UTAS couple years back so its not my first time in Aus/Melbourne. Have always felt that its a nice place to live.

I've read all of v2 thread and have some questions.

- will the 3 - 4k application fees be refunded if we fail our applications for a visa? Eg. Due to failure in meeting the requirements?

- i graduated with a bachelors deg which i dont think will ever be in the skilled occupation list, so i feel that chances are slim for me to come over for work. My friends told me however that because the majority of my siblings are in aust, i can apply using the remaining relative visa to get a PR. However, i did some reading online and if im not mistaken, its not "majority sibling in aust" but it's if you're the only one left outside of Aust. My parents are still in Malaysia, so im not the only one left. Just wanted to check if any of you came over using this visa? Can share your experience please?

Happy chinese new year guys!

Thanks

Not refundable if failed....

Not type of degree, but your profession that matters....see the MLTSSL and STOL....if your profession is in the list, you have chance....

Check your points as stated above....

The "majority of relatives" rule apply to parents only not siblings.... siblings must be last one....so if you have 2 or more siblings in Oz....they can sponsor your parents over (contributory category cost about AUD50k and takes 2-3 years)....then they sponsor you over as last family member....a friend is in the process....parent(father already passed away) just got parent visa, so starting the last relative process....

apply for citizenship is cheaper than RRV  icon_rolleyes.gif

Yes, although they have made in harder, it's still a simpler process than regular rrv....

But it means you must be ready to lose your Msian passport....at some point, you will either be found out or give up....

Anybody planning to migrate make sure you do it quick. As assessments in the future will be more difficult

https://www.sbs.com.au/news/turnbull-govern...re-leaving-home
*
it's only a proposal, and not even tabled....

even if tabled, it will have difficulty passing through both houses....and that's assuming the turnbull gov will survive the next election....

and even if it goes through, if you are an upfront applicant, there should be no problem with background checks....you already need a police check from all countries you have lived in for more than 1 year, at the moment...

but if you have something to hide....well. that's exactly what they want to find out....

Planning to get my Visa via https://e.australiavisa.com.my/ , any idea how to check the validity of the visa?
Just wondering whether this website might be a scam since it's so cheap to purchase at RM25.
*
The ETA Malaysians use to enter Australia as a tourist is free....but 3rd party agency charge you for getting the visa.... unfortunately there is no way of getting the visa direct from DIBP Australia, it is linked to all major airlines booking systems..... so all travel agencies with a online reservation system can apply for you...the online agencies uses such online reservation system to get for you and charge you a fee....

There is no way to check if your visa is "real"....but when you try online check in your flight, you will know....if you don't have a visa that allows you to enter Australia, you will NOT be able to check in...

when you are picked for processing and an agent is assigned, that agent will directly communicate with you....queries you may have you can directly ask the agent...

QUOTE(gogetter83 @ Mar 12 2018, 01:59 PM)
i just got an offer for an internal transfer from my current role in Malaysia to move to a similar role to the Australian entity in Sydney. The annual salary is AU$189K (inclusive of super and health insurance). I'll be on my own for the first 6 months, after which my wife comes over to do her masters.

I was wondering if $189k is sufficient for a comfortable live with 30% savings in Sydney (i'm thinking 2 bedroom apartment rental, and a car). What's the opinion of lowyat members currently residing in Sydney as well?
*
which visa will you go under?...

189k take away super and health, and remove tax, should still be take home about 140k...

renting a 2 bed apartment depends on location, but expect 1000/week in cbd/inner suburbs....cheaper further out...

cars are cheap....parking expensive....

living depends on lifestyle....

a 189k package is actually very high, even by australian standards...

hr said 457, though I thought 457 is/about to be abolished?
Isn't the tax much higher (I was expecting like 120k take home)

I'm thinking parramatta area. 1000/week is furnished?
*
467 is superceded, but they haven't announced the replacement...

Tax is progressive....your taxable income after removing super and allowances should be maybe 170k....tax will be about 50k....so yes you are right, take home will be about 120k...still very comfortable....

Furnishings don't usually add significant extra rental...most Australians prefer unfurnished, they bring their own furniture.... Parramatta is actually quite far out, 20+km from CBD....rents should be cheaper....

The main change is the move from IELTS to pte where unlike ielts where it is rare to get all band 8, it seems a lot of people manage to get high scores in pte and got their full 20 points....

That pushed the fast processing scores from the usual 65 to 75....so if you got 70, you have to wait as the 75s get called first....and the 189 70s....if new eoi keeps coming in with 75, you may never get processed....
