QUOTE(Jason_T @ Jun 2 2008, 04:51 PM) this topic is about who dives the most...If u can show us ALL gerrard's diving , this can be included...but he did that just once in a blue moon...some people on the other hand, whenever opponent defenders near him, he will silang kaki and fell he dives once in a blue moon?you must be joking me... just that u don't realize it coz EPL is in England and Gerrard is English...Mass media's influence is massive, not just here, but everywhere in the world but no doubt ronaldo's a diver... but he's learnt to stand firm on his feet these days...which make his prolific as ever this season... |

Let's put it this way. Ronaldo dives and he gets slaughtered by the media for being a dirty cheating foreigner. Gerrard dives and the media will say he's "trying his luck." Not that I'm saying that he does of course... Whenever he falls face first to the ground with his arms and legs stretched out like a starfish its obviously a blatant di-...er... foul.

its the media's perception of the players, and how they potrayed them at first, English media is exceptionally biased.

Funny how people have to go to WC 2006 and the likes to prove that Ronaldo dives. Here's the thing, you won't find a Man United fan who says Ronaldo doesn't dive. He does, but he has cut down on it, loads might add. Gerrard and Torres on the other hand, had loads this season i.e. Torres wonderful dives to get Materazzi sent off in the CL or Gerrard's couple of dives against Blackburn. That's the biggest difference. Most Man United fans admits that Ronaldo dives, while most Pool fans goes with the holier than thou attitude, caliming Gerrard doesn't when he's one of the worst at it as well, next to Drogba, Ronaldo and the likes.

Whenever he falls face first to the ground with his arms and legs stretched out like a starfish its obviously a blatant di-...er... foul. Because he IS a foreigner. CRonaldo does get loads of stick for diving but that's due to his already tainted reputation. Same goes to Pires who only did it twice (at least proven on video) and gets slaughtered non-stop. Drogba was condemned because he admitted to cheating and has no remorse in it. Rooney and Gerrard never got much stick because of their status as English heroes? Nor did anyone call Shearer a dirty player for his elbows when jumping for headers. What about the media lambasting Gallas for half a season (and still going on) for one emotional outburst yet Rio Ferdinand's kungfus at Stamford Bridge didn't get highlighted as much? Or when Lampard played when his mum died he was lauded as a hero, but no one made any notice when Sagna played after his brother's abrupt death? I'm not picking on any players here, but rather pointing out the protection English players have from their media and their unfair treatment to foreigners. Oh well... we'll just have to live with it since it's inevitable for the media to be biased towards their own kind. This post has been edited by StarGhazzer: Jun 3 2008, 11:29 AM |

I notice someone else brought Torres' name into the equation and he must surely be clutching at straws here. Has Torres gone down easily before? Yes. Has anyone also noticed the times he stood up strong against bigger centrebacks? I'm not being biased here but if you watch every game he's played in, you'll notice how often he has preferred to stay on his feet while bearing down on goal. Most of his goals have been a result of him either dancing past defenders while bearing down on goal, or out-muscling defenders.

Sometimes, ppl mentioned that we sounds bitter when we say ronaldo dives...we are not against him...it's jus that he really is that kind of player...
why we din talk about Tevez diving and so on? he did score a lot as well...it is because he is not! |

well all united fans agree that ronaldo still dives, but he has cut it down a lot
we didnt say ronaldo didnt dives, rite? but then, there is a poll in this forum if u just want the answer just to be ronaldo, then ask the question in ur own thread are we wrong to say drogba or gerrard is a diver? well we arent and they are gerrard, not the most.. but still a regular diver.. milan 2005, everton at goodison park this season, bolton in the gif and loads more.. he dived in england shirt too drogba? he dived several times in every single match i watched.. he is not the most speedy, he didnt use his pace to the max, plus a big tough body still can fell down easily about torres i dun think he dived much.. but he added it to his game after mid-season.. the double yellow cards to materazzi was resulted by his dives rooney can stood just to see his shot blocked by reina after being tackled from behind by carragher, but he did get a yellow for diving in the match against tottenham.. apart from that, i dun see he dives This post has been edited by MADReaLJL: Jun 3 2008, 08:05 PM |

i dunno about u guys...
but i observed that portugal, esp their national players, dive quite often... correct me if i'm wrong...maybe its part of their training..lol not 100% directed at C Ronaldo... Deco dives too, and i'm a Barca fan... so, lets not be team biased here, and really judge on the player himself.. |
