Hi Hun
I have asked the employee's to get the aquatic snake as they have seen/caught them whilst trapping fish in the klong's ( canals ). I will catch the others if I am sure of what they are & if they are either non-venomous or mildly so.
I am more inclined to keep exotics except the tent's which caught my eye from the time i moved to BKK.
Your suggestion to BS is good as an overhead filter will reduce the heat although if it is the hanging type BS may need more than 3" of water as the inlet tube may not reach the water. The other alternative is an overhead "box filter" that incorporates a small powerhead to pump the water to the box which sits on top of the tank.
I noticed a new type of "hanging filter" which incorporates a UV sterilizer. I thought about getting one but the tube wont reach the level of the water. The same people have also got in internal filter that incorporates a UV  system as well.
*
Ohh... that's nice. Yah, the tentacle is eye catching, the one I saw moved slowly and it does look like a tentacle hahah.

Yah, there are many filters in the market, used to keep fishes and the box filter does work well.... but then I think a custom made cover should be made if we gotta house snakes in our tanks.

I heard bout the UV filter.... people often use it for ponds.

QUOTE(Pythonaddic @ Jul 18 2007, 12:19 PM)
how come you guys start off with these snakes lol?
a ball python would b alot more nicer though or a boa c constrictor or a boa c imperator
if you have the space to house it
*
Small snakes easier to keep ahahah.... or maybe less threatening.
I'd keep boas and burmese python if I got the space. Now only can be satisfied with corn snakes and a ball python.

Anyway, that's a large chicken.

You said in your other thread bout having difficulty finding rabbits... why not you breed them yourself? They do breed fast. Another would be visiting rabbit farms or petshops and asking them for half dead rabbits. I heard rabbit farms that breed rabbits for pets do sell sickly or deformed and unsellable rabbits for cheap prices.

I breed my own mice and rats for my snakes.... anyway, maybe you can breed your own. A cage that is of good size can be around Rm150 but a pair of rabbits can only cost you Rm50 to rm60 if you know where to find. Hahah... some people have asked me to start breeding rabbit feeders but I don't have the space and my snakes don't eat rabbits. I do have 3 as pets but that's it for me.

*
Pinkie too small.... your friend never teach you to feed? That size can take mice.... Mine is a bit bigger only but eats 1 small rat and 2 adult mice already. The ones that I have sold eat mice easily. Pinkie for thin and small snakes like corn and king snake. Feeding only 3 pinkie is like under feeding too since not enough to digest. Get adult mouse can already. Ball pythons not meant to be thin.... they should have a large cobby body when adult.

For a young snake, feed every week.... but ballies got reputation to fast.... sometimes 2 weeks, sometimes a month won't eat but never take the risk. Try and feed everyweek.

Pelik lah, why your friend never advise you on this? Since he sold you the snake, he should be giving you all the details.

Hahah... if I sell snakes to my friends, I will let them know how to feed and how to care. If strangers, I'll ask if they have experience or none.... I think that is the responsible way rite?

Wish I can get a burmese.... but then space ahahahh.... and then food.... Worked at Sunway zoo once, they had a burmese that was 11ft.... it ate 6 chickens each time but I forgot how often they feed her. It was 80kg I think...

QUOTE(Pythonaddic @ Jul 26 2007, 03:35 PM)
well yea that's the right way
well 11 feet and 6 chickens each time and 80kg? hahaha
i am damn certain that burmese python must have been Obese!!! 6 chickens at 1 go aint good!!!
the best at 1 go is a pig for a 11ft burmes  a 2kg pig would be good enough for 1 month dy or 2 weeks

well it would still take at least an year to get about 1,50 meter so they're not really growing that fast la
actually also depends haha sometimes they can also reach 2 meter in 1 year but really depend on how often u feed it and how much
but burmese pythons tend to get alot more bigger in girth...like the Anaconda hehe
so u gotta watch out with how often you feed it hahaha cos they get really heavy
a burmese python the same size of my african rock python will certainly be alot more heavier
but anyway its very easy to keep a burmese la
just keep it in a 2ft cage then after it get bigger like twice the size of its cage something like that then u change to a 4ft aquarium... then after a 4 ft aquarium make sure ur store room is free hahahahaha then hide the burmese inside there lol

Added on July 26, 2007, 3:37 pm
or u get the burmese and i will take care of it untill you've cleared you're storeroom hahaha
*
Hahaha.... over weight I guess.... slow mover and is so darn heavy, need 3 guys to carry her.

LOL.... with my living conditions, can't have a burmese yet hahahah.... one day... one day sure will have hahah.

QUOTE(zal @ Jul 26 2007, 05:43 PM)
i see...thanks all...
my friend told me,he says to feed him every 2 weeks..n said that its bcoz to control the size...huhuhu... hes a breeder... mingle wif snakes daily...,4 him its nothing...lolz... i jst need clarifications...thats all...lolz...ill feed him weekly from now onwards...
*
For a growing snake, should be weekly loh.... I try and feed mine at least 2 rats or 3 large mice.... Ball pythons normally have a larger body but feeding only 1 mouse every 2 weeks its a bit underfeeding and makes their growth really slow.

As an example, I got mine earlier than Reanne but then she feeds more mice and rats than me since my ball likes to puasa.... in the end, hers is big and nice while mine still looks skinny and small.

Snakes can dislocate their jaws for eating.... after eating it goes back to normal.

Yay! Now I can weigh my pets hahahah...

Some snakes will feel hungry even after eating and they will still wanna attack a bit, pure instinct only. As long it don't constrict or bite you when you handle it then its ok. I got 1 snake before, likes to strike fingers on and off but never got holes lah hahahah.

Got ask your mom to paint your snake lah heheheh.

Most likely will shed after this feeding.... then you will see nice colour.

You will know when it wants to shed when the colour becomes darker, the a bit dull. Later the eyes will be cloudy. During this time your ballie will not eat for about 2 weeks or more and will soak a bit in water more often.

nah didnt keep also..as mine also bundled up into a ball ....heheh
how often does one shed?
*
Can't really say how often..... but then it depends on the feeding and growth. If you feed it less, it will take longer to shed but if you feed alot, then it would need to shed more to adjust. So far mine will shed after 4 meals.... but then my ballie is prone to fasting so 4 meals not necessary in 1 month.... sometimes 1.5 months.
