Yesterday, I invited my workmate(lecturer), Mr Chan to my home to see my snake. He likes to play my ball pythons and cornsnakes, so he thaught all my snakes are docile. I brought out my copperhead and he looked pretty tame in my hand, but once he got near me and try to touch it, WHACK!!! He got bitten. He kept asking me whether it is poisonous. I dare not tell him the truth and details because I am afraid he will panic. I just told him bites from copperhead is not dangerous sweat.gif .

I think the most he will get is some swelling.... maybe if the wound is not cleaned properly, a bit of infection.... but then won't die from it lah...

Definitely won't die from it. Today, he did not complain at all. Just a dry tag only. He said he can feel the snake teeth but I did not see any blood at all.

what is the truth?? a copperhead bite is nothing...lol. you are talking as if he could die or something like tht which is btw impossible even if it had got venom into a person(which is a very hard thing to do in the first place)

Yes, a copperhead bite is nothing. That is why I am keeping one.

The truth is this snake is venomous but lack of delivery system and therefore it is NOT dangerous to human. When someone got bitten, it is better to skip the details and just assure him the bite is nothing dangerous.

And how do you know they lack of a delivery system? why would they be venomous in the first place if they lack delivery systems...doesn't make sense if you think about it. they have delivery systems just not as efficient ones as say a cobra....

Copperhead does not have a front fang like a cobra, which can be used to inject venom to both big and small animals. Human is too big for copperhead to inject its venom, unless you want to try it out by putting you little pinky deep into its mouth.

they don't, but they have rear fangs which is a snake's venom delivery system fyi...and just as you stated it is hard to have even a little bit of their venom injected into you......so why talk as if you are afraid of telling your friend the truth?

Telling the details will only complicated matter since my friend was already anxious.

i know that..but the way you are posting on the thread you would think that a copperhead racer is dangerous or something like that....there is no need to exaggerate

POKMASTER, THAT WAS YOUR OWN INTERPRETATIONS. Others did not interpret that way. Certainly I myself know what I wanted to convey.
