QUOTE(crazy25kid @ Dec 28 2015, 11:08 AM)
actually i have a question regarding this
when we first move to SG, the best time to resign is AFTER pass approved AND offer letter signed.
however, when we are already here on pass, when is the "correct" time to resign?
new pass cannot be applied unless existing pass is cancelled??!!
signing the offer letter does not ensure employment when pass can still be rejected...which leaves us in no man's land
so when exactly will be the best time?
*
If you don't sign the offer, the new company cannot apply EP for you right?
I'm not too sure about SG because this is the normal practice in Malaysia if a foreigner hops from one company to another company.
Also there's a grace period during the transition provided the new application is already in progress.

Suddenly I'm like losing hope, my last call (2nd call) was on Friday, 18th. sad.gif
The HR who's the recruiter said he will let me know whether it's positive or negative. My Singaporean friend was saying it's holiday season, so asked me to be patient...

Knowing my expected salary is higher than what they can offer and the urgency of this role to be filled a.s.a.p., I know my chances are pretty low though I'm confident I fulfilled nearly all criteria of the position. sad.gif

I guess I will follow up again after New Year but I'm very thin faced, not willing to show my desperation. laugh.gif

So in Malaysa rm6.5k
Singapore s$5.5k  (i.e. rm16.5k)?

http://www.morganmckinley.com.sg/sites/mor...uide%202015.pdf

<7 years exp seems to peak around s$6.5k, so s$5.5k seems like a decent offer.

Wah, good guess! rclxms.gif Close to your estimation. tongue.gif

Thanks for the attachment, appreciate it! biggrin.gif

Still waiting for their decision. They need the position to be filled up soon but I can't and my expected salary is higher than what they can offer. So yeah, that's about it, I didn't put in much hope though. Let it flow naturally. laugh.gif

That is about SGD5k+ if i calculated correctly, which is very good. do bear in mind that usually they take 80% of your current salary figure, and pay in SGD.
Salary in singapore cant simply jump as far as i understand as MOM is keeping an eye.
*
What did you mean by the bold part? unsure.gif

Err.. Salary has nothing to do with MOM I guess unless you underpay someone that means below regulated minimum salary?

That is what I understand from my friends and some HRs. It is just a rough guidance or something like rule of thumb.

Yes, I truly agree MOM has nothing to do with salary. but the market in singapore as a whole, is much more "regulated" and systematic.
A very good example would be, in malaysia, certain company's technicians are getting paid 5digit salary, will this be possible in sg?
*
Wait, I don't understand about this part: "they take 80% of your current salary figure, and pay in SGD." So, where did the 20% go? Pardon my poor English... sweat.gif

Anyway, I'm also in HR, so I'm curious to know as well. brows.gif

Apology, I have been quite dormant on forum.
For e.g.

you are getting MYR 5k currently.
judging from few real cases, they pay you SGD 4k.

Of course, there are many other factors to be considered as well.
For e.g. O&G ppl like petronas are paid relatively well in Malaysia, fresh grad fetching above MYR 4k. In SG, SGD 3K for fresh grad is considered within the top quadrant already.
*
Yes you are right. However 4k in Malaysia is really nothing. I bet a 3k fellow in SG lives more comfortable compared to the fellow earning 4k in Malaysia. laugh.gif

Hahaha. End of the day, it is up to personal preference.  smile.gif
What i see is a 1 way trip, quite unlikely for ppl to come back to work in Malaysia unless for other factors such as family and etc.
*
Actually like the HR guy asked me the other day, why did you want to move to SG? I told him, actually SG is just one of my choices. Not necessarily that I will land in SG eventually, but my aging parents and so, I don't intend to go that far away from them. So, SG is still my preferred choice.

Oh well, I can go to China too if I want to despite I'm not a Chinese ed but my Chinese has improved tremendously these two years that I can be a translator for my bosses. laugh.gif My bosses in China want to hire me in Beijing and albeit the air pollution, I like Beijing a lot.

To come back to the guy's question, I added that I just want to get out from Malaysia and being exposed to other countries when I'm still possible. laugh.gif

Really see no hope in Malaysia unless I'm an expat here. doh.gif
