Rental killer part , master room may go up to 1k with a.c. cheaper if outskirt city. Studio will cost more than 2k.

Food basically cheaper than malaysia, dollar to dollar. Example, a bowl of chinese mee soup in kl may cost rm5 , here sgd3.5 to 4 can get liao , generally u can assume 10 to 20% cheaper compare to kl.

Wish all luck working in sg

Actually prefer u all dun come

Hahahaha

More and more competitor

So, I got the email this afternoon without me noticing. Asking if I am still keen to pursue. Suddenly I have a lot of mixed feelings.
Moving to a new country, a new company. cry.gif

I'm not bro la. If I were a bro, then I won't be so pussy here. laugh.gif
Already V18, still not active? laugh.gif

I have a lot of things that I will need to think about.

Anyway, if I were to pursue and all, the office will be at Toa Payoh. Good place? hmm.gif

Good, lots of HDB around Toa Payoh so you can stay very near work too, or worse case a couple stop away only
Quite central

Alright, got it! biggrin.gif Sounds good then. At least, it is not bad. biggrin.gif
Let's see my next step, meanwhile tomorrow is my last working day of the year. Gonna utilize the two weeks to rest and think. blush.gif

come la

i sort of doubted my decision to come for first few months, going back to KL very often.

But then as time goes and RM drop like no tomorrow, now only go bac KL once every 2 or 3 weeks.

u can change iphone here every year, if earn 3k it is only 1/3 of your salary
. wink.gif

laugh.gif Is that a temptation? laugh.gif
Anyway, my hometown is in Seremban and if I want to go back after work and come back again on Sunday's evening or even Monday's wee hours in the morning, possible?
Any transportation I can take?

Dollar to dollar, living standard is lower in SIN. Even taking out rental it is still worth it.

While you have not settle down with your own family, come la get some $$.

you are so lucky cause recently only a lady from Seremban join my co.

her first week going back

friday night 10PM direct bus to Seremban

Sunday take plane KLIA - SIN

I don't think there is alot of option for overnight bus from Seremban to SIN cos even from KL it is limited.

myself most extreme is take 1st AA flight from KL to SIN on Monday morning, 615AM and land by 730AM. you work at Toa Payoh sure no problem if no major delay. Just work through the day with panda eyes only. But to get to airport so early is another issue lo.

Or try Sunday night flights but can be expensive.
*
Cool. OK la, I will go and dig some gold from Singapore. tongue.gif
Thanks for the idea, I will explore those things later. tongue.gif

Friday crossing to Msia can be madness. I have taken Aeroline a few fimes and departing 645pm can arrv KL between 12 smtg to 2 smtg. Depends on custom situation and of course highway traffic. If on major festive season like CNY, avoid bus at all cost or you pandai pandai take some leave so that you depart or go back to SIN on non peak day. My friend spent 10 hours on bus fron SIN to KL.

Be well aware of airline promo helps too, example i managed to secure MAS air tic for $120 for the christmas weekend booking it as early as aug/sept. Yest again booked MAS with similar price for Jan / feb weekend ticket. Always avoid last minute ait tic if you can. Example 3 days ago i bought Tigerair one way SIN to KL for tomorrow night, cost me $138.

Yeah, today I read all the crazy jams from JB to SG. Terkejut I. shocking.gif

Gotta plan well then. biggrin.gif

take starmart bus from golden mile, cost around $28. or simply go easybook.com to buy the ticket
friday night flight AA is not that expensive if you can plan earlier. you can probably get $70 for one way.

coming back sg from seremban, you can buy from bus station eltabina counter, cost around RM50 for direct bus to sg.
last time i usually took monday morning flight 615am , reach sg airport around 705am. the ticket only around RM60 provided you buy very early or during promotion. (not sure if the cost rises now)

airasia, malindo, tigerair, jetstar, mas

Thanks for the tips. Will keep this in mind for future. biggrin.gif

With $5k, easy.

I would say saving half of it is very easy.

Luxury abit
1.Rental Master room with attached toilet 1.2k
2. Food & grocery 500
3. Transport 50 (very doable, just dont take taxi)
4. Mobile 50

1.8k only. Plus some shopping maybe air tic back and etc. Budget 700.

Very easy.

Now you ask me go back Msia also i scratch my head if get RM salary.
*
Wah, you guys just lived up my hope! I was thinking to work in SG for 1 year only can buy my house in KL. Looks like it may happen sooner than I predicted. laugh.gif
Actually in term of room, I don't need a master room. Just a little room will do, for myself. A/C or not doesn't matter, I can live with it so long there is at least a fan. laugh.gif My only requirement is I must stay alone, cannot share room, share house is fine. laugh.gif

By the way, wanna ask you guys, is it OK if my friends or family members come to my place once a while to stay for few days? Assuming if I have friends from Malaysia or other countries wanna visit me in SG? Will the landlord and housemates allow? In general?

Guys, thanks for the comments on the estimated cost of living I will need to allocate.

I wish I can stay in a bigger room too but I'm coming from KL and all my advances are all to be paid with my savings here before getting any salary in SGD? sad.gif

Assuming if a room is $1k, usually market is 2 or 3 months advanced right? That's a RM 6k-9k. shocking.gif

Usually 1 month deposit 1 month rental. I personally wont pay 1K for a room. I used to pay 650 for a room in TPY with aircond and walking distance to MRT.
*
Yeah, that's 2 months already. I will settle for cheaper room then. laugh.gif
Maybe next time after earning some and would like to move out, then will be a better room. laugh.gif

Nego with your company for relocation package. Since it's (presumably) an MNC which encashes your employer CPF, there's a good chance they'll also pay for relocation.

What I got for my relocation:
1st month accomodation (hotel) and all expenses covered while I find a longer term place.
Relocation service (crown -- went to my KL place, pack everything, ship to SG and hold it in warehouse before unpacking in the HDB I rented).
*
Yes, it's a MNC. I will try.
Sigh, if it's my current company, we will cover 1 month temporary accommodation in a hotel, 3 months of salary for relocation and shipment from current country to new country.

This MNC is not a market player and they have been negotiating hard of my expected salary, I doubt they will give me anything. sweat.gif Worse comes to worst, they may pull out and don't offer me a job. laugh.gif

Luckily I still have a comfortable job in KL, still can survive if that doesn't work well.

*Fingers crossed*
