Yes it can. On the downside, it's not an 80+% rated PSU. How much are you getting this for? Might as well get a PSU with 80+% rated.
about RM175. other suggestions that cheaper..?Choosing The Right PSU, Discussions about power supply units.

Ok then you may search for FSP Saga 500W for around the same price. Add RM45 to get a Silverstone ST50F would be better.

Hi, my rig is using about 3-4 years hardware mostly. Ever since I upgraded my GPU to ATi 4770, I think I may need to get a new PSU.
Any recommendations? I prefer to spend a maximum of RM150 if preferred. I'm not planning to buy to a new PC anytime soon. Here's my rig specifications: - Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 @1.86GHz (plan to OC to at least 2.4-3GHz in near future) - Sunbeam Core-Contact Freezer - Asus P5B-E Plus - 6GB DDR2 667MHz RAM (2x2GB and 2x1GB dual-channel, maybe upgrade to higher performance RAM to smoother my OC-ing) - PowerColor ATi HD4770 512MB DDR5 (used to use HD3650, no issues as mentioned below) - WD 500GB GreenPower SATA2 HDD - WD 250GB Caviar Blue SATA HDD - Sony 18X DVD-RW - 3.5" Floppy Drive - CoolerMaster 430W Extreme Power (see link for details) **My power supply doesn't seem to have the 6-pin PCI-E connector, so taught temporarily using the 2-molex to 6-pin PCI-E adapter which is something like this: I've read back a lot of pages before to gain further understanding, but I think in the end I have to ask you guys. Furthermore, I've used the famous power wattage calculator from the front page and it still shows that my PSU should be still able to handle all this, even though it seems misleading. Feels that I've made a bad choice of PSU in the past, but what's done is done. The problems I faced now: 1. Some strange (maybe knocking sounds) when I perform a cold boot of my desktop. Possible power surge? 2. After using the computer for some time, the monitor shows some very light horizontal lines flowing downwards (which I've never seen before when using the HD3650). 3. The computer unexpectedly restarted once as I checked from the Event Viewer. I need some advice from you guys about my problem. If you need further details, I'll discuss it here. Thanks a bunch. Never ever save too much on the power supply. Coolermaster EPP series is one of the fail models. This is the heart of your computer and you will be "playing around" with electricity. Low quality PSUs have higher chance of killing your hardware. Anyway, All IT sells FSP Saga 500W at RM165. This will be the one you are looking for. If you want 80Plus certified, go for Silverstone Strider 500W. Cycom sells it at RM205.Any recommendations? I prefer to spend a maximum of RM150 if preferred. Also, dont trust what the PSU calculator says. Hardware these days drains power from +12V rail. A PSU with stronger +12V is recommended. This post has been edited by TristanX: Jan 24 2011, 02:01 AM |

QUOTE(MasterGaming @ Jan 25 2011, 09:26 AM) brother tristanx... u see the top cable ? 1 connect to psu, 2 mole female connector... Shouldn't give problems since the connectors are one way. You won't be able to plug it in if you do it backwards. Unless you deliberately mess up the wiring.izzit if my fan connector its (molex connector) , then i connect that molex to molex female connector as the same picture above ^ .... will get any problem ? |

QUOTE(:3mushy:3 @ Jan 22 2011, 01:59 PM) Can I know the reason? On my power supply HX520 being modular it have been quite a hassle to actually connect those cable for being quite short. I felt that 520w is being quite limited nowadays as the hardware is getting more power hungry. I bought that PSU @ RM400+ last time, seems like PSU has been quite cheap lately |

QUOTE(Sky.Live @ Jan 27 2011, 03:40 PM) Can I know the reason? No, if you look closely, the performance/watt ratio is getting higher. HD6850 beats HD4850 almost twice but uses about the same power. HD5770 which is 2 steps higher than 9600GT uses the same power as the card too. GTX570 has the same performance as GTX480, but uses 20% less power than the latter. That's why you should only get higher wattage of more than 500W when you want to do multi-GPU setup. With 500W you can even SLI/CF low-mid end GCs. On my power supply HX520 being modular it have been quite a hassle to actually connect those cable for being quite short. I felt that 520w is being quite limited nowadays as the hardware is getting more power hungry. I bought that PSU @ RM400+ last time, seems like PSU has been quite cheap lately I don't like modular simply because I like the conventional PSU look. |
