Hello all, just got myself a Sapphire HD4870. The requirement mentioned that I need a 500W PSU to have the GPU running.
I'm planning on getting the Cooler Master Extreme Power 500. Is this good enough? Or should I get something else?
My budget is below RM200 btw. Thanks!

Rm200 ? you wont get 400w right ?

alright , you can try out acbel e2 power 510w but if you want more reliable , ST50F is the choice , but its Rm269. smile.gif

you get what you paid.

get Silverstone ST400...only RM140 at robyncom at Imbi plaza or higher price a bit at lowyat plaza...good enuf for your current rig and not bad also for your future upgrade in case you change to a mid end PC (in case you do change your PC in near future...)  wink.gif

ST400 is sure better than CM Extreme and the price is only higher a little bit...really worth it... icon_rolleyes.gif  laugh.gif

You will regret if you buy the extreme power. Nowaday for stable pc u must use TRUE power la........othewise u will regret 1 day!!!

I am one of the regretted ppl. Now using Enernax FMA2 460W. Stable!! and recommended for those who opt for stable pc

okok....

the other is good.

VX550 or ST56F on par. but HX520 > ST56F as the +12v rail stability is superb

Looking for advise on choosing PSU on this SLI GPU
This is my Rig

M2N SLI Deluxe

8800GTS 320MB x2 (SLI) This is the older 8800GTS, not the revised one. Both cards are also the OC edition. (MSI)

AMD Athlon 64 x2 5200+

Corsair 2GB XMS2-6400 (RAM) (not sure that name is correct tongue.gif)

6 Hard Disc, 1 of them is a 10000rpm hdd

A DVD writer

A soundcard

Additional components would be like 2-3 fans, etc

I tried this site

http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp

and it says I need 513W. Is this figure reliable? I need advice from the experts. TQ

One last word. Is it a good idea to SLI 8800GTS? I haven't bought the 2nd card yet, but if advisable, my friend who own the same card as I will sell it to me. So, 8800 GTS SLI, a good idea or not? TQ

if im correct CM 500W extreem power is about 380W of power. it shud b enuf for your system if you dont overclock it. good thing about 9600GT is that u dont need to have that much power to use the card.

if u wanna change to a new psu just get a ST506F around RM350(altho is kinda overkill for your GC) sweat.gif

ps: my sis pc is using 500w extream power with asus 9600gt(not the top and the 3 party fan version) and it works fine.

Thanks for advise..
But, How about the current. Do you think CM extrem power can give enough ampere? it was state minimum 400w power supply with 12V current rating 26A for recommended system requirements for this gpu. Actually i not understand how to find a PSU with this requirement. If i not wrong, CM extrem power only give me 12V with 18A.
