Comparison-wise, which is better? i think 7S26 is a later technology compared to 4R36? but 4R36 has been around since 2013, and supposed to be a workhorse for Seiko5 until now?
So Seiko 5 is a 'cheaper' variant for automatic Seiko, compared to its GS?
*
Comparing GS to seiko 5 is like comparing Lexus to Daihatsu

Finally settled on a watch. If you have a 175mm wrist like me where the SNK809 (37mm) is too small and the SNZG15 (42mm) is too big, get the SNE095P2. At 40 mm, it is also lighter and thinner compared to the SNK809 and solar powered with 10 month battery reserve. Downside, not automatic watch and no see through case back. Also, it is a polished case, some may not like that.
*
with seikos, i prefer automatics.
for solar quartz i would go with either Citizen or Casio.

my wrist is 170mm. i have both snk809 & snzg15 lol

i feel the snzg15 too big. Don't want overhangs on lugs.
I prefer the same as well. My only problem is that finding a military watch with the snk809 at 40mm is hard...aside from buying a hamilton.

I noticed the band of the sne095 is also same with the snk sngz. The band is stiff and feel like got some sharp bits. Any ideas how to make it soft? Or maybe I should change bands?
*
change bands lahhhh

try looking for SARG005/SARG007.

I like nylon since it is light. Ideas on bands?
*
nylon as in with leather backing, just thick nylon or nato/zulu?

when i first got my seiko, i went nato route. at first it seems nice due to easy swapping and multiple colour choices but eventually it only lasted a very short while and my preference went to silicone/rubber and leather nowadays.

them nylon natos are thin and doesnt hold the weight of a 42mm-and-above watch confortably. the watch sits high above wrist surface and made the weight shift around. to overcome this you gotta bind your strap tight, but in the long run, the hole gets enlarged and spoilt. BUT, it probably has got to do with my purchase of cheap natos from ebay/ali. never bothered to pay for expensive natos from some mat saleh brands because their asking price i can get some nice leathers.

Sweaty hands and contact with water. Not sure if leather will help
*
then either bracelet or silicone/rubber would be the best for your situation.

them nato/zulus will retain water and remain damp for quite some time and trust me, you wont like that feel.

the original strap has started to fray. Like 2nd day. The band is also stiff and has sharp edges that scratches the skin.

Can suggest me any good rubber/silicone strap?
*
i am currently using this on my skx013. but it's abit stiff though.

this one is pretty soft if you dont mind some colours

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Cocotina-Do...iceBeautifyAB=0

just do a search around ali/ebay. 20mm silicone strap

im planning to get whether snk809 or timex expedition since i love those field watch aesthetic however i found that snk809 have a significant accuracy issue.  how major is this issue can someone give me some insight?
*
mechanical vs quartz. it's a no-brainer comparison for accuracy.

but how dire is the issue for this particular watch?  some reviews said it's not that bad while some said it's quite unreasonable even for a mechanical watch.
*
i have the SNK809, but as i rotate my watches everyday so i only set the time in the morning when i start wearing it. i did not notice deviations at the end of the day though so i would say i am unable to notice the deviation, if at all. if you wear it as a daily watch then yes, there might be a minute or two deviations after a week, yet i say it's a no issue given that even a quartz deviates 15-30seconds a month.

just buy whichever you liked. SNK is 38mm while timex expedition is a 40mm. snk os mechanical, timex is quartz. one jap brand one american brand although is suspect both oso assembled in China.

When u buy a new seiko 5 it is very unlikey you'd need to get it serviced within 5 years. In fact using it up to 10yrs without service is possible too. But just for answering sake, itcostonly rm120 for a full service at Steven's.
