hello everyone here ,

hope u all r having wonderful weekend .
tonite no nid to sleep lo .

i m new in dis thread , would like to enquire some questions on LCD screen.

i m not a gamer . i just do mostly graphics works using photoshop and some films making programs as well . so , response time of d LCD shouldnt b d main problem in my case . d main issue should b its display resolution instead .

wel , recently i m looking at dell 17" display :-
1) E177FP 17" Analogue LCD Monitor
2) UltraSharpTM 1708FP 17" Flat Panel

and now my enquiry r about their display resolution . r they noticeable thru naked eyes between d 2 models anyway , and by how far different ?

wat's ur budget? since u do photoshop and some films making programs, might as well go for Widescreen. After i change to widescreen, photoshop has become so much easier to use becoz of MORE space. Just my opinion.

Agreed, but I wonder about the Ultrasharp advantage. Is it really that good and worth it? I wonder how it compares to other higher-end LCD brands.

As for resolution wise, can always check the specs online..

hello,

u r using cs3 , does it hav wide screen display option to b set ?

coz i heard b4 a fren said , cs2 when used with wide screen , d image wil b stretched to fit fit in wide screen ?

and somemore they said , d display is not genuine , meaning to say tat d display got auto-correcting ability , where eventhough d original is lousy , but oso displayed fantastically .

Not true. If you are working on an image or a res say 800x600, then even on a widescreen monitor the image wouldn't stretch if you display the image at its original size. This goes the same for either CS2, CS3 or any photoshopping progam out there.

Widescreen is generally easier to work with if you are photoshopping. It is so much easier to do touch-ups and renderings on a 1280x720 image on a widescreen monitor.

If you are gearing for a 17" LCD monitor and want a widescreen, theres a model from Viewsonic VA1703W heading for around less than RM500. Its pretty good.

Your friend probably don't know anything about resolution. He/She probably didn't set the LCD to display native resolution. That's why it seemed strecthed.

I don't get what you mean by auto-correcting. Is it the colours? Is it the contrast? Etc. So many things. Anyway, all these are configurable to your likings. Either through photoshop itself, 3rd party softwares, LCD settings or graphics card settings.

Added on May 20, 2007, 7:51 pmI also do graphical works. Used to have Photoshop 6.0, then 7.0, then CS, CS2 and now CS3 EXT. I also use other softwares but you don't use them, so they're out of topic... Anyway, widescreen is the way to go. you'll love it for more than just graphical works.

contrary to pop believes
wide screen is not ≥ in size of normal 4:3 type,
of the same diaganol size

as it said here:
http://www.dailycupoftech.com/2007/03/20/s...creen-monitors/

the "more" space feeling came from a normal reactions of ppl having less/none side scrolling like most ppl, I too hate to scroll horizontally
so the extra sideways space is god-send
but this means a little, teeny, tiny, minute MORE downward scroll

you would feel a lot more space by buying a bigger size compare to now
or getting dual/triple display...
