Below is my current fund allocation and I'm planning to embark on my first rebalancing act. With the hype about the [rate] hike, suggestions please?

Thanks yklooi.
Going by those recommendations, I should move some (but how much?) to bonds. QUOTE investors must also determine their geographical exposure to various regions, such as the US, Europe, Japan, Asia ex Japan, as well as global emerging markets Checked. Then again, any particular region to be heavy on? |

QUOTE(Yishin @ Nov 28 2015, 07:16 PM) As $8 is to be deducted for PPA annual charge, is that mean we can only claim tax relief for $2992 if we bank in only $3000? post amended....(updated) thanks to Kimyee's highlightsSame for prs promotion, do we need to bank in $3008 to entitle the promotion gift? got this info from FSM after query... "......an annual fee of RM8.48 will be charged to you. FSM will collect the PPA Annual Fee by deducting from the gross investment amount. Therefore, the investment amount for your PRS fund will be RM2991.52 instead of RM3000. However, you are still able to enjoy the tax relief of RM3000 for the respective year". (best is to confirm with LHDN for it may change....anyway I think the taxable amount for the RM8.48 amount is just to minor for LHDN to bother much) This post has been edited by yklooi: Dec 1 2015, 04:48 PM |

QUOTE(wonglokat @ Nov 28 2015, 07:22 PM) it depends....on your preferences...just a note...some forumers that had analysed them said,...currently some bond funds are as volatile as Eq funds... no right or wrong...Just a reminder, I think you are now abt 55% in M'sia..... if you want it...it is ok...too. I think abt 20% to FSM recommended fund for the Bond - Malaysia (Short Duration) category; that is AmIncome Plus would be alright....that % is dependent on your preference too. QUOTE(wonglokat @ Nov 28 2015, 06:37 PM) Below is my current fund allocation and I'm planning to embark on my first rebalancing act. With the hype about the [rate] hike, suggestions please? KGF & eastspring both invest in the same thing i.e., Malaysia stock market. If it is up to me, I'll choose KGF over Eastspring because KGF is less volatile. (KGF Std-Dev = 11.1 vs Eastspring Std-Dev = 14.1)Kenanga Growth - 29% Eastspring MY Focus - 25% Ponzi 2.0 - 31% Titanic - 15% Thanks. Their rate of return lebih kurang sama aje. When this is the case; a savvy investor should then choose the less volatile fund if the rate of return is around the same. My preferred holding is Titanic x 40%: Ponzi 2.0 x 40%: KGF x 20%. Xuzen P/s: Volatility a common name for Standard deviation aka Riskiness to the lay-person. |

Thanks so much, fellas. I'll definitely look into what you've posted. I don't have any plans for the invested money, yet. Not for another 5 years but I do need them to grow at 8-10% each year if possible.
I have about 500 bucks put aside each month as spare and didn't pay much attention to bond funds. I think it was xuzen or pink spider who said bonds reduces volatility or something along that line but I don't really understand how; given my assumption that monthly DCA practice and lack of active "trading" should smoothen things out. It's been a good experience giving FSM and DIY UT a go. |

QUOTE(xuzen @ Nov 28 2015, 10:05 AM) forgot the exact words, but one of the best EM that offer multi decade opportunity basically due to overselling. so therefore, if I believe this I also have to believe that it is a very bad time to get into any foreign currency funds and RM is due to bounce back. |

QUOTE(yklooi @ Nov 28 2015, 07:26 PM) yes,...from your example...you can only claim $2992 tax relief. RM8 deducted by PPA is different from RM10 for account opening. The former is claimable in income tax but not the later.and you need to add in the GST too for the other fees.... see.... "Paying RM 10 PPA fees" http://www.fundsupermart.com.my/main/resea...-Promotion-6359 |

I've done this like more than 10 times already. Never send them the current statement as well but you probably should continue to do it. You signed, scan and email to your favorite and friendly CIS for faster effect. But you also need to snail mail them the hard copy else your friendly CIS will chase after you.![]() ![]() |
