I've made a few just to compare. Might fit in to one's budget. Although you'd need to add Rm200 for the HDD and also a bit more for the casing.

Intel i5-6400 - Rm809
MSI B150 Bazooka - Rm399
Zotac GTX960 - Rm799
HyperX Fury DDR4 8gb 2400mhz - Rm239
FSP Hexa+ 550w - Rm189
Rm2435

Inter i5-6500 - Rm876
MSI B150 Bazooka - Rm399
Zotac GTX970 - Rm1399
HyperX Fury DDR4 8gb 2400mhz - Rm239
FSP Hexa+ 550w - Rm189
Rm3102

Intel i5-6500 - Rm876
Asus B150 Pro Gaming Aura - Rm559
Zotac GTX970 Extreme Core - Rm1650
HyperX Fury DDR4 8gb 2666mhz - Rm270
FSP Raider 650w - Rm288
Rm3643 (you could save around rm132 from psu & ram)

Intel i7-6700 - Rm1389
Asus Z170 Pro Gaming - Rm759
Zotac GTX970 Extreme Core - Rm1650
HyperX Fury DDR4 8gb 2666mhz - Rm270
FSP Raider 650w - Rm288
Rm4386
*
You don't need the Z170 for the last build since you picked a locked i7.

[Purpose]
Play Dota 2

[Hardwares that will be re-use]

[Monitor resolution]
I guess his limit will be Full HD.

Intel Pentium G3250 - RM 232
ASRock H81M-HDS - RM 229
Corsair 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Value RAM - RM 169
Sapphire R7 260X 1GB GDDR5 - RM 382

Trying to save you as much money as possible, you can upgrade to i3 4160 (RM 479)/better case/bigger size monitor/better GPU with the rest of the budget if you wish.

If your friend wants stable frame rate even during team fight, I suggest to get better parts because this spec is just "ngam ngam" only.

Hey guys can you guys recommend me a nice gaming rig where i can play super smooth csgo, with high graphics and h1z1 high graphics. My budget around 2-3k cheaper the better.
*
I never played H1Z1 so I am not sure how reliable or trustable is the recommended specs (i5 + GTX560), I'll go with the recommended specs of H1Z1 so you can enjoy high settings in game.

Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 876
MSI B150M Bazooka D4 - RM 399
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 200
Zotac GTX960 2GB GDDR5 ITX - RM 799 (Christmas promotion)
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 189
Bitfenix NOVA - RM 149

Total: RM 2827 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

You can add a 120GB SSD (RM 229, Kingston HyperX Fury) to improve boot speed/game loading speed etc.

To reduce cost, downgrade to i3 6100/GTX750Ti/GTX950 etc, but not guaranteed can run H1Z1 in high settings, CS:GO should have no issue since it is a pretty light weight game.

Hi guys just want to see if it's possible with this budget to get 970 including monitor and maybe i7 thanks.

Nope, very hard to squeeze in GTX970 and i7 with 3.5k budget. This one already costs more than 3.5k (i5 build).

Intel Core i5 6400 - RM 809
MSI B150M Bazooka D4 - RM 399
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 200
Zotac GTX970 4GB GDDR5 Reference - RM 1399

FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 189
Bitfenix NOVA - RM 149

If you downgrade to Haswell, you can save roughly RM 150.

Both GPU are different model but still having same GTX970 chip so performance difference will be small between them.

Hi sifus,

Need a suggestion for a build for my sister

[Budget] : rm1500. might be able to stretch a bit but prefer to stick as close as possible.

[Purpose] : some mid and casual gaming and youtubing. minecraft, sims 4, etc.

[Re-usable hardware] : Monitor

[Personal preference] : I think the budget should be able to fit an i3 processor right? How much do i need to topup to get i5? would the performance difference be big?
*
Intel Pentium G3250 - RM 235
Asus H81M-K - RM 240
Corsair 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Value RAM - RM 169
PowerColor R7 250 1GB GDDR5 V3 - RM 299
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
FSP Hexa+ 450W - RM 155
Deepcool Tesseract - RM 129

Total: RM 1442 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

If you want i3 (extra 2 threads compared to Pentium G), you can either drop the dedicated GPU and use the money to cover up the cost of i3 and use the iGPU for gaming or top up around RM 250 to upgrade while keeping the dedicated GPU, performance of iGPU is not as good as dedicated GPU though.

If you want i5, prepare another RM 300 (assume you upgrade from i3), performance difference is hard to notice in real life if you use it only for normal web browsing/YouTube/movie etc, if gaming then it depends on the games you play.

Looks good so far. I might go for the i3.

If i topup another rm300, would i be able to get a better GPU? Which would be better, a better GPU or i5? would the i3 cause bottleneck?
*
The GPU I've chosen is pretty low end which is suitable for casual gaming, no bottleneck with i3 so you're totally fine.

Based on the games you listed, i3 is sufficient, you can top up and get a better GPU for better gaming performance if you wish.

Hey guys, this is my first ever custom pc build so I need some feedback.

[Purpose]
I'm will mostly use my rig for video editing and after effects, and I might do some light gaming (dota2) or 3D rendering by the side (Cinema 4D). I know 3.5K is not enough for a full workstation but I'm just a college student that does video work as a part time job.

[Budget]
RM3500-RM4000 Including monitor

[Hardwares that will be re-use]
None

[Monitor resolution]
Around 21"-ish
As long as the resolution is 1920x1080

[Games & softwares that use frequently]

Adobe CS6 Master Collection
Dota 2
*rarely* Cinema 4D

[Personal preferences]
CPU: Intel Core 15 6500 - RM855
Motherboard: Asus Z170-k - RM659
RAM: G.Skill RipJaw V 2x4GB DDR4 - RM329
GPU: Gigabyte GTX750Ti - RM 615
PSU: FSP HYPER M 500W - RM259
Case: Corsair Carbide 200R Window -RM319
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB - RM339
Monitor :BenQ 21.5" GW2255HM - RM439
Total: RM3814.  All prices I refer to IdealTech

[Location]
Penang

Is this somewhat okay for video editing? and will there be any compatibility issues between parts? Thanks for helping out guys, really appreciate it.
*
You better opt for i7 for editing/rendering, much faster than i5. You don't need Z170 unless you plan to overclock. Added a 120GB SSD to improve system performance (boot time/app launch time/overall responsiveness etc).

Intel Core i7 6700 - RM 1369
MSI B150M Bazooka D4 - RM 399
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 200
Gainward GTX750Ti 2GB GDDR5 Golden Sample - RM 550
Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB SSD - RM 229
Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD - RM 319
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 189
Corsair Carbide 200R Window - RM 299
AOC i2360SD IPS - RM 499

Total: RM 4053 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

QUOTE(FaezFarhan @ Dec 23 2015, 09:29 PM)
I see. I think the difference between the CPU is more significant right? 3.4Ghz compared to 4.0Ghz. I like the design of the Amp! Extreme core but not sure whether the extra Rm250 is worth it or not.
*
Speed doesn't matter now since you can overclock the BLCK to achieve 4.0GHz, you just need a Z170 which can overclock locked Skylake CPU.

[Budget] : rm2500 to rm3000.

[Purpose] : normal usage and casual gaming like fifa, dota 2 and hon

[Re-usable hardware] : Mouse keyboard and speaker only

[Personal preference] : Prefer 24 inch monitor. I am not a hardcore gamer so i guess the graphic card no need to be so expensive and can support the game above is enough. If possible i wish to have a i5 6500 processor and ssd as well

Thanks so much
*
Intel Core i5 6400 - RM 809
MSI H110M Pro-VH - RM 329
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 200
PowerColor R9 270 2GB GDDR5 TurboDuo - RM 529
Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB SSD - RM 229
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 189
Deepcool Tesseract - RM 129
BenQ GL2460 - RM 499

Total: RM 3128 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

Build based on your personal preferences, a bit over budget, so you can make the decision either to top up or drop some of the components, you can also downgrade to Haswell i5 4460 and it will save you roughly RM 150.

I know. Since we can now overclock the locked cpu via BLCK, I wonder if both of them are identical cpu's since both names are 6700 series except one is unlocked and one is locked.
*
Not identical, the one with K has higher TDP (91 vs 65).

QUOTE(mechaweirdxe @ Dec 24 2015, 01:23 PM)
I see. So what would you suggest within the rm2000 budget? Not really planning to go for high graphics but at least doesnt lag at low or mid setting. The 8gb ram should be sufficent for now.
*
Minecraft still relies on Java, that's why CPU computation is pretty high.

Top up RM 200+/- for i3 if you want to keep the budget at minimum without compromising the specs.

If you can stretch your budget to 2k then you can upgrade the GPU to GTX750/750Ti.

Hello, plan to build rig. I plan for gaming.
Play game like BF4, BF hardline, GTA v, Simcity, Cities Skyline.

Can help me choose CPU?

Im in dilemma to choose i3 6100 and i5 6400.

Is it worth to opt for i5 6400? with Rm300 price different?
Or i3-6100 is already enough that I can save or spend more on GPU?
*
All the games you listed are pretty CPU demanding, i5 is more recommended to run them smoothly.

Is this spec the best for about 2.5k budget?

Purely for gaming. No work .

Setup of 380 is cheaper by a hundred thu coz casing excluded

You can always customize the rig yourself, not necessary need to follow what Idealtech had posted on their website, those rigs are for references only.

They did sell parts without casing included, but price will be slightly different I think, not sure if they count it as full rig or not if without casing.

Yahh.

Just wondering if 380 or gtx960 is better

Or gtx970 2nd hand unit? But it will bottleneck with i3 right.

Hexa 550w is sufficient?
*
R9 380 is slightly faster than GTX960 in raw performance but it is not leading GTX960 in all games though, thanks to Nvidia GameWorks.

If you want better performance out of the box without doing too much tweaking to the card, GTX960 will be a much wiser choice, it consumes less power too.

GTX970 is almost twice the performance of GTX960, if you don't mind 2nd hand item then of course it will be a great addition to the rig. Bottleneck issue depends on the games you play, those CPU demanding games will suffer some CPU bottlenecks but most of the time your are still safe because latest Skylake i3 is a very capable CPU for gaming.

FSP Hexa+ 550W is enough for GTX960, for R9 380 it should be enough too but you are recommended to get a better PSU to run AMD card due to power hungry.

Is hexa 550w enough to juice up gtx970?

Nope I mean i3 6100.

i3 4160 is Haswell.

The 4GB GTX960 is overpriced TBH, GTX970 is more worth in value and yes the Hexa 550W can power up GTX970 without issue.
