The build you gave me, what are the settings? High and Full HD?
*
High settings average 45 FPS.

Medium settings would be more ideal for stable 60 FPS.

Both are based on 1080p, if 720p then max settings won't be a problem.

QUOTE(smokymcpot @ Dec 25 2015, 07:39 PM)
How about 2k with monitor?
Thanks
*
If you want to play games like Far Cry 4, don't go shortcut and get the cheapest rigs, some games cannot run properly on them, either you get a very low frame rate or it doesn't run at all, for example, Far Cry 4 won't run on a dual core Pentium.

My PC finally kicked the bucket so I will need a new rig now.

[Budget] Rm3000

[Purpose] Gaming

[Hardwares that will be re-use] Monitor, keyboard, mouse and HDD

[Monitor resolution] 720p and higher

[Games & softwares that use frequently] Starcraft2, Diablo 3, Fallout 4 (Would like to run those on the highest setting.)

[Personal preferences] Preferred a motherboard with extra space for future upgrade.

[Location] Sabah

Thanks in advance. biggrin.gif

You can't run Fallout 4 at highest settings at 60 FPS with your current budget, if you don't mind low FPS then go ahead.

Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 876
MSI B150M Bazooka D4 - RM 399
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 200
Zotac GTX960 2GB GDDR5 ITX - RM 799 (Christmas promotion)
Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB SSD - RM 229
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 189
Deepcool Tesseract - RM 129

Total: RM 2821 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

Mobo with extra space for future upgrade? Do you mean more RAM slots? Or SATA? Or PCI-E? The mobo chosen above has 4 RAM slots and 6 SATA 3 ports as well as 1 PCI-E x16 (standard) and 2 PCI-E x1 slots, should be enough for you, if you mean you want SLI/CF feature, then it is way too much for your budget, Z170 mobo with SLI/CF feature will cost at least RM 700+/-.

You have some budget left, either swap to ATX mobo (with more PCI-E slots etc.) or change to a better case (your own choice but make sure the form factor is correct) or get a better PSU.

Guys, I wonder how many fps difference if you compare the i5-6500/6600 to the i7-6700K when using the same card? GTX970 Amp! in this case.
*
It depends on the game you play, if the game is optimized to use the extra threads or hyperthreading technology of i7, you will see quite a significant improvement, if no then it could be just a few or close to zero FPS improvement.

Which game optimizes hyperthreading?

Not much, Fallout 4 and AC: Syndicate are among the latest games that utilize the extra threads more "efficiently" than other games.

Thanks.
Found idealtech website is quite informative.

Just a few question:

1) gpu comparison. Any downside on brand like palit/zotac compared to msi/gigabyte/asus? IF i still want to get msi/gigabyte/asus/evga gtx 970, which one is recommended?
2) Is it worth to get i5 6600 or i7 6700. I read somewhere saying there is not much different in term of performance.
3) from your experience, if I ask the shop to assemble the rig, any additional charges?

Thanks.
*
Not much difference apart from the design/cooling solution, from the current market pricing, Asus/MSI/Gigabyte/EVGA GTX970 is somehow "overpriced", most of them breached 1.7k mark. You end up paying more if you get those premium brands but getting similar performance in terms of frame rate, unless you are going for aesthetic purpose.

If you really want other brands, the cheapest would be EVGA ACX2.0+.

i7 has extra 4 threads (hyperthreading), i5 doesn't have, only few games utilize hyperthreading now, but if you want future proof, go for i7 instead. Performance difference between i5 and i7 is small for current gaming era (DX11), things might change when DX12 becomes mature in a few months/years.

Assembling is normally FOC for most of the shops, i.e. Idealtech, Techview, ETech etc.

And lastly Idealtech doesn't carry MSI product.

Idealtech pricelist is stating full rig can get RM 100 off on GPU, so I am not sure if the price shown in the pricelist is already discounted or before discount, interested buyer can ask them for a quotation.

Guys thanks for the prompt reply.
Actually I had all of the peripheral, just lack of rigs.
I'm wondering why 750ti over r7 370?
I thought ATI better performance and cheaper?
Btw current monitor 1080 60 ghz
*
Yes R7 370 is better but is more expensive, R9 270 is RM 529 only from Techview, you can consider it too.

Since you only play Dota 2, either one is fine.

The only downside I saw from having ATI is power drain. Will it be very significant? As my electrical bill monthly quite high and currently using laptop with full peripheral attached. Hardly off laptop beside restart once in a while.
*
No more ATI after AMD bought it FYI laugh.gif

Idle power consumption is almost similar, but during gaming, R7 370 draws significantly more power than GTX750Ti, since you aren't a hardcore gamer and only play Dota 2, go for GTX750Ti instead, it is enough to max out Dota 2.

One more question.
Gpu do not really need to buy those big brand like asus or gigabyte? What's the main difference until 20% price difference compared brand like palit and power color
*
Brand name.

Those are "premium" brand, it has slightly better design/cooling solution/warranty etc in some people's opinion. If you have budget or just want it for aesthetic purpose, go ahead, I won't stop you biggrin.gif

Mobo wise the one u recommend is better than ASROCK b150 Pro4 or gigabyte b1450 d3h?
*
Performance is about the same.

Do you mean ASRock B150M Pro4 and Gigabyte B150M D3H?

The M indicates the form factor, it is very hard to find DDR4 based ATX mobo at RM 400 price range.

yes.. both with M, but what is ATX mobo?
i knew that skylake with a ddr4 ram is a must to avoid failure,
But i have no idea regarding to ATX mobo... Kindly enlighten me. icon_question.gif
*
ATX, mATX, mITX are among the most popular form factors.

ATX is the second largest mobo after EATX which can be found easily in our market, mATX is slightly smaller than ATX (lesser PCI-E slot) and is the cheapest form factor, mITX is mini size mobo for small form factor rig, only comes with 2 RAM slots and single PCI-E x16 slot.

So for your case, the mobo chosen is mATX.

*
An overclocked GTX970 can match the performance of stock GTX980 which makes GTX980 not worth the money.

*
All about the "premium" brand name, they are still GTX970 so performance won't be having much different TBH, just get the cheapest or mid end one, 1899 for a GTX970 is just too much, R9 390X has better raw performance at same price point.

R9 390X is great but at the same time it is a power sucker also sweat.gif

One of the important facts that you need to take note when buying AMD card is Nvidia GameWorks sabotage, performance won't be as good as same tier Nvidia card, so don't expect it will outperform GTX970/980 all the time.
