Thanks for your input.
Further enquiries before I proceed.
1. Is there any distinctive difference between, H81M-K and H81M-D? (as referenced to Viewnet price list)
From Asus web,
H81M-D
1 x PCIe x16
2 x PCIe 2.0 x1
2 x SATA 6Gb/s port(s)
2 x SATA 3Gb/s port(s)
This should be sufficient for my existing hardware (3x HDD), Creative soundcard, and a "future" upgrade of one SSD HDD, am I right?
Extra note, there is no info about H81M-K from Asus web.
I am still undecided on which motherboard is suitable.
2. At this moment, do you think getting the Skylake processor is "future-proofing" my desktop? I understand it's kinda unpredictable on how long Intel is going to continue with LGA1150 platform. Or talking from cost effective point of view, just ignore Skylake and proceed with Haswell?
3. The Techview you are mentioning, is it located in Jaya One? The price that you post, seems more competitive than Viewnet.
P/s the purpose of this desktop is just light gaming, and HD movies to plasma.
Thank you.
1. H81M-D has parallel and COM ports which normal consumer won't use it nowadays. 4 total SATA ports with 2 with reduced speed of 3Gb/s, this is chipset limitation, if you want more SATA ports, go for B85/H97.
2. Intel has stopped production or development for any product under LGA1150 after LGA1151 came out, only patch will be released for this platform in the future (i.e. INF patch). If you want cost effective, go for Haswell with cheapest lowest end chipset mobo, they are much cheaper than DDR4 based Skylake, of course you can opt for Skylake and run it with DDR3, this will further reduce the total cost and will match the cost of Haswell but not recommended to do so (there is an article to the reason in the post quoted earlier).
3. Yes Techview is in Jaya One..
