Is this for real?

While oil prices have jumped 17 percent since Trump was elected, they are about half what they were in 2014. Resource prices as a whole are down 64 percent from their peak before the 2008 global financial crisis, the Bloomberg Commodity Index shows. Singapore, whose economy relies on shipping and oil service firms, was exposed first because the companies were smaller and less able to tap government support.

“Singapore is a bellwether for the larger Asean and Asian region,” said Andy Ferris, Singapore-based partner at Hogan Lovells Lee & Lee. “Some of the fundamental problems those industries face won’t go away. Many of the companies in the commodities sector have high levels of debt and depressed revenues.”

Five companies in the city, including oil services firms Swiber Holdings Ltd. and Swissco Holdings Ltd., defaulted on nearly S$1 billion ($691 million) of bonds in 2016. KPMG said defaults could widen to include Singapore’s developers after home prices dropped by the most in more than seven years in the three months ended Sept. 30. China’s overheated housing market cooled in November as authorities rolled out renewed buying curbs.

May I know if my shares are held in direct CDP account in SGX and if there is an upcoming rights issue, can the rights issue subscription form reach me in Malaysia in time???? I see that there are only 2 weeks between date pf despatch of forms from Singapore and last date of acceptance. Has anybody had any experience subscribing to rights in Singapore?

No forms will be sent to you unless you have a Singapore address.

But will the "rights entitlements" be credited automatically to CDP so that we can sell it??? If so, are the rights only sellable through the broker we bought the shares with??

the good thing about CDP.. is do nothing. the rights will be AUTO SOLD and $$$ will be banked in.

Auto sold??? When do they sell? At what price? Maybe we get to sell anytime but if we never sell till last minute then they will auto sell???

I ve read from other thread that you have opened a CDP account with DBS bank in Singapore. Can i know which branch you opened it and how long the process had taken?

Another thing I would like to ask you is since i have opened global trading acc with Maybank2u ,is it necessary to open account with DBS? Global trading is of 15 minutes delay from real time in Singapore.

What's the required documents? I only got passport, screenshot that I passed SGX test, my total nett worth.

The following supporting documents.

a) Utility bill or bank statement to verify your address. 
b) If you can get bank reference letter (as advised by the banker in SG that bank do give reference letter), that will be helpful.
c) If you already have CDP account and with shares, then bring the original copy of the CDP statement.
