Hi Bro,... I use DBS Bank, and I use DBS-Vickers as my Singapore brokerage. ALL transactions in DBS Bank and in DBS-Vickers (DBSV) can be performed online, UNLESS if you are attending to a Rights Issue exercise, then you may need to go down to Sgp to do some small activities.

But, let's leave out this thing called a Rights Issue at the moment.

The first time when you need to set-up the account, you need to go down to Singapore and meet-up with the DBS branch from where you would like your account to be set-up. After your account is setup, you will be given an id, a password and a security token, with which you can use to log-on to your account from Malaysia, and from anywhere in the world.

When you open your DBS Account, open a normal Savings Account and a Multi-Currency Account (MCA) at the same time. With the MCA, you can deposit funds of different currencies into that account into different pockets inside that account.

I'll stop here, bro,... think about this, and ask me any questions you would like to.

Yes, can subscribe. You need to do so via an approved ATM (normally DBS/POSBANK ATM), you need to have a CDP Account and you need some funds to be allocated for the IPO subscription, in case you get it. hence, you need to fly down if you're from KL.

hi Bro,

If we have an account with DBS Bank ,is it possible we apply Singapore IPO through online from Malaysia?, meaning we do not have to fly there every time new IPO coming up.

TQ

You will have to read here and there, to see which co's intend to list, and what stage they are currently at. Then you can see their prospectuses in the OPERA System at MAS. You will have to search,...

the good thing about CDP.. is do nothing. the rights will be AUTO SOLD and $$$ will be banked in.

Hi elea88

I ve read from other thread that you have opened a CDP account with DBS bank in Singapore. Can i know which branch you opened it and how long the process had taken?

Another thing I would like to ask you is since i have opened global trading acc with Maybank2u ,is it necessary to open account with DBS? Global trading is of 15 minutes delay from real time in Singapore.

Tqvm. Appreciate your reply

Yes, you can do online trading from Msia after your trading account has been successfully opened.
*
hi guys,

this is good actually because if we open our global trading account with local bank like mine with maybank2u..it is 15 minutes delay from real time in Singapore meaning we cannot get the real price as wanted in stock trading.

likely a consequence of SG banks tightening after recent money laundering convictions.

hi guys,

is no problem with that, just provide them with a copy our Malaysian Income tax return, we are not tax evader at all and neither we are a millionaire. If we a millionaire we don't have to trade already, just sit down and invest in a capital guaranteed fund like unit trust. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

way back in 2013 when open the account..
I was considering STD CHART & DBS.

and I choose DBS in favour of the Direct Account.
The other factor is... ESTATE PLANNING.

i hv no idea in case i SAYONARA for Nominee account how it works... but for DIRECT CDP.. its a clear cut thing.

Our will in Malaysia is recognize in Singapore being COMMONWEALTH country. You can email DBS BANK and SGX and they will give u a step by step way on the procedure.

Also, for NOMINEE account.... I have no idea who own the shares or the procedures.

However, being a FOREIGNER to Singapore.. after open the ac i realise.. cannot take part in any RIGHTS ISSUE, bonus etc..
coz we do not have a SINGAPORE MAILING ADDRESS. so, this is the Minus Point.

I am O.K with that so far... as the Rights issue will be automatically sold off.. hence if one is really interested
can just buy off market. But have to make sure timing is right.

eg KEPPLE DC REIT. I think it works out to the same.

Tqvm..sure you have made huge profit from sgx mkt

I don't know if you are using SG broker or malaysian broker. But with DBS Vickers there's an option there to apply for IPO.

But your account must be linked to CDP directly. Don't think a nominee account can be use to apply for IPO.
*
I am planning to have DBS as my broker because it can save some cost. I heard Malaysian is not allowed to subscribe Singaporean Ipo unless we get PR status or reside there

OKay,..

Thinking from the procedure point of view, I think you can subscribe via DBS login, if you have a DBS Account. Electronic Share Placement, I recalled,... but whether you can get or not,... not sure there,...

hi

this is the answer I am looking for, it means we Malaysian can buy Singapore IPO via online , either we can get it or not is another story in fact no assurance for Singaporean also. It looks now I have to travel to Singapore to open an account with them.. I have done some research on Singapore IPO , I can say it is good and profitable one in fact some managed to rise double from its original IPO price.

For prefunded account, you can subscribe to rights issue.
You cannot buy IPO with prefunded account. With cash account, you can buy IPO.

I have no experience with IPO. I just posted what my remisier told me.

From what I read around SG blogs. you need trading account link with CDP with one of the big 3 to buy IPO.

This blog specialise in writing about IPO. It even mention how to buy IPO. But I think it's more for Singaooreans.
http://singapore-ipos.blogspot.com/2012/08...ares_8.html?m=1
Anyway, I will buy Netlink IPO when it's time. That will be my first SG IPO experience

Depends. Maybank Kim Eng cash account is free of charge. But you cannot open Maybank account from SG.
DBS Vickers, UOB Kay Hian, OCBC iTrade all free of charge. But their bank account cost min SGD3000 respectively to maintain (or else kena charge monthly)

Tqvm..it is aboit rm 10k
