>6% yield for a major bank stock... well, u aim high!
i doubt it is sustainable... i see dpu dropping on all fronts.
fed chairman has a good reason to say the economy will be bad enough for rates to stay near zero until after 2022.
we will know better
by end 3Q.
I have read the same wordings everywhere what you said in the above, bro,... you and them may be right - that's why I have to go in with a price as low as possible. And,........ I must go in,... not to wait at the sidelines only,... so,.. life is hard !
If don't go in now,... chances wasted.
I am very happy I did not go in to UOB and OCBC prior to the crash. I am a freshie investor into these two banks. Hence, I stand to gain more by investing fresh now. I went into DBS at a high earlier because I couldn't let it go higher,.. and I hit $26.00 as my average price pre-crash.... During crash,... till today,.. I have averaged al the way down to $21.48 as of now,...
Sometimes,.. it's not too good to read too much blogs or teleram chats that kept pushing people to buy banks. But,.. decision to buy at the readers' hands.
If our prices are low enough, if the dpu does drop,... the yield may drop to.... 5.8% / 5.9% thereabout,... hence,.. the key to the whole thing abt buying SG banks is : our average holding prices.
Just to elaborate more :-
I don't do Msian banks - I'd be investing in a weak currency environment,.. In the long run generally... investing in a string currency environment is more beneficial for
investing into banks. Of course, the quality of the banking stock must be good too. Hence, I am satifsied concentrating into the three SG banks.
Everytime the RM weakens further vs the SGD, my wealth position will strengthen further in Msia. My investments into SG banks will be even more valuable. I have not made the comparison,... but I suspect the SG banks' capital ratio is stronger than the strongest Msian banks',...
I started with HK banks - HSBC, but the dividend got 'suspended',..

,.... and a large hedge fund is betting that the HKD's peg to the USD can't be maintained. But,.. I ask myself then : what if the peg is reduced,... or even totally removed ? Will the HKD strengthen instead ?
Jmho, bros,...
