These 3 were claimed under extended warranty. After my 5th year warranty.
SC: Skudai Citroen (JB)
1) Turbo
Engine light appear, sent in to check on 01 Jan 18, confirmed turbo unit. Proceed with claim. Took 1 month plus to get approval from HQ. After approval, SC took 3 days to complete the replacement and test. Additional, they even help me to change/ claim the cylinder head cover even I dint complain about it, they found out rosak while they replace turbo.

2) Oil filter housing
Smoke from under chassis while driving, oil leak. Sent in SC and confirm oil filter housing leak, get it replace on the same day

3) Aircon
Rattling sound from engine bay. Sent in and confirmed compressor failure. Get it replace on the same day together with condenser.

The speed and service level is all depends on Service centre, this new SC very good in the speed, everything chop chop settle. While last time the other SC took few days to settle.
*
wow .. last time i claim aircond compressor but failed to claim condenser .. SC says is still ok .. so no need to replace.

additional : do you still remember your turbo failure at what mileage ?

The claiming is all depends on SC effort. Nasib~

My 408T just clocked 100k last night.

I think my turbo failed quite some times ady, not boosting well and I very long time never hear the turbo sound, just no error message pop.
Until December 2017 I went to Genting finally error message pop, and slight of power lost. That time the mileage should be around 95k, cant rmb correctly.
*
ok ok .. i didnt heard my turbo sound after changed turbo inlet pipe ..
when it cracked, the turbo sound very loud yo!! so syoik! brows.gif

but then think back, i still remember when i first get my car, the turbo sound also not so noticable .. so i think is still ok ..
will monitor again and see .. thumbsup.gif

If anyone is going to sell their Peugeot 408 2.0 to used car dealer please drop me a PM as I'm still looking for a unit.

BTW, can I know how much does it cost to recover 408 car key if owner lost all his keys? Would really appreciate if anyone experienced it could share some lights.
*
i get my car key replacement last time is about rm700 ..
if not mistaken is below rm700.

SC will disable the invalid key to access to your car.

Thanks for the information. Can I know when you get a replacement key does it mean you lost all your keys and code, and that only cost rm700? Thought I read somewhere they will need to reflush the ECU and that cost thousands.
*
SC will reprogram the new key to your ECU and remove the one not using.
Example, you have key A and B. But B is missing. So they give u Key C and remove Key B from your ECU.
Oh ya, FYI it took some time to order the key ya. Mine wait around 1 week.

Yes it is cost RM700 (plus minus, confirm not reach to thousand) .. i do mine at year 2017 July.

There are alot of so call "owner" but actually they are not and might just like to talk kok online..
Is better refer to club member or SC ..

more information :
SC i do this last time : Geot Auto PJ (you can google it in case u not sure where is it)

Price wise i cannot commend so much, mana tau they tell u barang naik harga vmad.gif

Thank you very much for the detailed information. Really appreciate that. Guess I will call Geot Auto PJ directly. I might probably need their service and confirmation later.

1 week waiting time for the key, guess they don't keep the stock locally. My only concern is actually the immobilizer. The ignition + door lockset + 2 remote control cost less than rm400 only.
*
maybe u can directly ask them during your next visit .. thumbsup.gif

Hi is me again. I call up PJ Geotauto the spare part department told me is rm700 but they couldn't confirm how soon will the key ready. I call up Peugeot KD service advisor told me rm1000+ but need to wait 2 to 3 months for the key.

Can I know when you get the replacement key do you need to provide the backup key or they could duplicate/remake the key without any backup key?
*
hi, i explain in point form for easier understanding ya ..

1. all your car information is inside Peugeot database (including your engine code, car key pattern, etc)
2. once u submit your order (deposit or full payment), they will proceed to order a new key. FYI, all the key are with unique keycode.
3. then they will cut your key exactly like your existing key pattern (the pattern they retrieve from Peugeot database)
4. once the key arrive, they will install the key into your car. At the same time, they will remove the key which not using (update new key's keycode and remove keycode not using)
5. then you can use your new key to unlock and start engine.

more information :
How if people use the old key to enter your car ?
A : the old key still can unlock your car door but cannot start the engine

actually all this information your can ask when u call to SC.

Wow thanks you very much for all the details.

2. FYI, all the key are with unique key code. Does that mean all the key has to come with transponder right?  Reason being the KD service advisor told me I could bring my own empty key but I'm not sure if I should buy transponder together.

Edit ohmy.gifh I just realized the transponder is soldered on the remote control PCB.

I couldn't get service advisor at PJ Geotauto as no one picking up the call when transferring call. The KD service advisor sounds like rushing so I did not spend much time talking on the phone. Might as well pay a visit to the service center but not sure how would they treat walk in.
*
i not sure about KD SC .. last time i service at Geot Auto .. they are helpful anyway ..
if price is ok for you.. maybe u can ask more information during u go do your payment ..

Thanks for sharing jfcheong, wow that does seem like a fairly long list. May I ask how old is your car? Yes if possible I want to keep a car for as long as possible, to avoid having to change cars too often and constantly pay car loan. From your description, it does seem like the 408 may not be the car for me, as I really do not want to spend my leave days going to the workshop to get things sorted, as you said, it's not just about the cost, it's also the hassle and time consumption. I do love the car's performance though....haih.
*
i owned the 408T for 4th years now ..
exclude the callback item, below are the thing i change/fault :

1. air cond compressor - once - warranty
2. abs sensor - fault also because the guys accident rosak my sensor when change brake pad - own cost (rm250)
3. turbo inlet hose - own cost (rm450)

the part is not that expensive (for me la .. ) if u know the source actually ..

Hi all,

My 408 got the "Engine Fault - Repair Needed" pop up message again.
This time they checked and suspected engine oil leaking.
After topped up 1L, they ask me to monitor 1k mileage before sending back SC again for the scan. If confirm leaking, they will request HQ to replace the engine for me under the 7yr warranty.
Any guys have this problem so far? Is it the Turbo problem someone had mentioned earlier?
Not sure when they said replace engine, is it really the whole engine?
*
But positive side, they claims it under warranty ..

Last time my saga blm have engine oil leaking too, SC say not cover under warranty yo ..
Maybe is proton .. not sure ..

The Turbo Inlet Hose is covered by warranty. I got it changed for free after doing all the recall items.

So far after 10,000 driving my 2012 used peugeot 408t, the only expense for me is faulty ABS sensor and headlight bulb. Everything else covered by warranty. The car runs like new. It's seriously value for money.
*
Ya is covered by warranty, but i do it at outside workshop.
But is not that expensive also..

Peugeot 408, if I were to go for 2nd hand for 2013-2014 make.. What kind of issues/problem that I might be facing? Appreciate all the feedback from the current owner of 408. Is all the Peugeot make in Malaysia having so much issue or only 408?

Thanks!
*
actually u can read few pages before this, already have someone ask about it earlier.

From the highlighted, what makes u have an idea that 408 have so much issue ?
Then, why u still consider for a used 408 ?

Read from the thread and heard from people that drives. But it was years back. Not sure if is still having the same issue now. If Peugeot rectify the issue edi then I don't mind for second hand 408 laugh.gif
*
I will suggest u read from the earlier (maybe 5 or 6 pages earlier) ..
We actually did share some comments earlier, you can read and consider ..

If u ask me is it 408 turbo worth to buy :
i drive my 408 turbo since 2014, so far so good. Satisfied with the performance.

If u ask me, reliable ? :
in this 4 years, actually do not happen kereta mati di tengah jalan, car cannot start in the morning ..
wear and tear do have la ..
It is not those frequent down as u can read in the internet ..

Then, worth to buy 2nd hand 408 ?
If u prefer worry free : go for 408 NA
If beast is in your body : go for 408 turbo
There are SC and Specialist workshop out there .. so no worry .. "
Check out service booklet before you purchase ..
Oh ya, some of the 408 turbo did entitled extra 2 years warranty yo ..

Why peugeot ?
Im not a die hand fans for peugoet, just the moment i look for car, i did compare between altis, civic, 408t ..
But my priority is driver experience > safety > maintenance
if maintenance come first .. i may put my bet to altis .. but i found it boring to drive ... so ....
(Ya .. i drive alot .. )

Hope this may helps ..

Dont want it to come back again after 6 months time

Oh windows CE.. I thought was talking about brand.

I am thinking to get the HU and reverse camera,  but need to double check on the CANbus and cables if modification necessary.
Another thing that worries me is even if getting a HU with no wire cut, would it affect my car warranty.

I'm sending the car for aircon compressor and headliner warranty in the next service. Might as well double with them.
*
u can look for my previous post ... i install reverse camera + 5" screen ..
as far as i know .. SC not actually so "stict" ..
i did service my car with the after market HU before .. warranty still valid yo ..

Anyway, is this reverse camera the correct fittings for 408? I have yet to dismantle plate light so not sure if I did search correctly.
*
4" 5" forgot already .. sweat.gif

you can get whatever reverse camera u like ..
as long u can mount it and u confortable with it ..
