Guys,

My friend workshop recommend to use Shell or Castrol 5W 30 fully synthetic oil as they don't have Mobil brand.

Is it suitable for  my Y2016 408 2.0 ?
Thanks.
*
actually u can use it .. as long the rating is correct.
been use total, mobil, liqui moly, Millers, comma .. as long is 5W30 (mine is 408T) then is ok .. make sure is genuine oil then ok ..

Hmm.... you mean to say your owner manual does not specify one of the following Peugeot oil specs:
From which country is your 408 assembled/manuactured if it is not from Europe?
*
FYI, peugeot 408 assembled in malaysia

So far so good, hehehe. I frequent travel highway a lot, can really feel the power. Of course not much on the higher end of rpm, to achieve this our turbo need to chg also. Im so far happy with what I have.
My only mistake is I didnt start to do everything from Bros Auto, instead I started at different workshop. So my advice is, start from scratch with Bros Auto, as they can guide u better based on yr needs.
Last dyno done early this year, I clocked about 198hp at the crank cool2.gif

Yes bro, i did custom open pod as well. I did with the Bros Auto, very clean job they did. But this kit I think u must preorder, selling like hot cake biggrin.gif
Next thinking of upgrading exhaust system as well rclxm9.gif

wow .. u suddenly reply the Apr one .. thumbup.gif

198hp is good number, mind to share what has changed / mod ?

Sorry for the delayed reply bro, been away biggrin.gif
So far done, downpipe+open pod+remap+full decarb.
I dont consider decarb as a mod la, it shud be a mandatory maintenance for our pug.
Next upgrade will be turbo upgrade, probably after i upgrade the exhaust system. grin.gif
*
wow downpipe + open pod can achieve that number already ..

I was planning do open pod + decat first ... then wonder should do turbo and intercooler as well or not ..
then only go remap ..

just try to achieve 200hp or something near that ..

saw one youtubers upgraded his 408 with new bigger Turbo kit, all new exhaust system, upgrade cold air intake with box etc and remap. yes, it improves a lot on Torque, HP, but it is very pricey for all sets. not sure if it is worth it to considering the 2nd price of Peugeot
*
the youtuber is cardock ?
for me, stage 2 should be decat + open pod + remap ..
if change bigger turbo kit + intercooler then is something more serious .. stage 3 maybe ..
of course barang not only that for stage 3 ..

As the cardock 408 .. with the cost and the result .. i think not worth it ..
cause i saw many 408T user .. actually did achieve 200hp (+-) with stage 2 alone ..
walnut decabo (make sure engine is healthy too) + open pod + decat + remap ..

anyway just my 2cent la .. im not pro on this also ..

This. I rather maintain it to be in good condition than mod. If want mod, better take brand new cars with 250-ish hp starting
*
this is somehow i agree ..
for me rather to mod on more potential one ..
it will be nightmare for me if getting more problem after mod .. doh.gif

Guys, I need your help on recommending which garage to go when comparing Bros Auto Kota Damansara and Renaultech. Can I know which garage is better in diagnosting intermittent fault and who offer more reasonable charges on repair cost. Please do PM me if you don't want to disclose the recommendation publicly.

Lately my 1.6T has very rough idle with almost no respond on throttle upon cold start. The car runs fine after a few minutes. the CEL throw in fault code with misfire at cylinder 2 and 4, so I replace spark plug and interchange the ignition coil. Cleared the code.

In the next cold start it struggle with the same symtom without CEL. The CEL appeared again few days later with low fuel pressure and stuck open injector at cylinder 4. Cleared the code and this time it shows only low fuel pressure. The car still struggle at cold start at the moment  I believe it's time to let the professional perfom the diagnose and repair.

Your input is ver much appreciated.

suspect is high pressure fuel pump having problem ..
both Bros Auto and Renautech doing great job .. depends which one easy for you jer ..
Both cost also about the same .. (maybe +- abit la .. )

Thanks for your reply. I also come across Peugeot & Citroen Specialist Workshop located in USJ. Looks like a lot of good review.

High pressure fuel pump will be the last I suspect due to it was replaced during the last recall at 30k+ km. Now my mileage clock at 68k km. Another reason I wish to rule out hpfp is due to the car runs fine when the engine is warm. Did a live data from diagbox using ACTIA the fuel pressure is really low (8 bar) when first start in the morning. It keep at this value until I restart the car. Pressure will be at 50-99 after restarting the car.

I'm thinking if resetting ECU will work. I have attempted to reset the ECU but unable to do it as one of the condition to reset ecu is one will need to connect the device to battery directly which I'm not sure how to do it (I have battery clamp comes with ACTIA but just can't figure how to connect).
*
i replace my hpfp twice .. once is call back and 1 is at renautech ..
ya the problem occur during cold start and once is go warm the problem will gone..
and u will see your rpm up and down when cold start too ..

Thank you very much for informing me about that. Hpfp break down in just over 30k km is indeed unbearable Yes the symptom is rpm up and down during cold start after the car rest overnight, feels like misfiring. Guess I have to open up and accept that is Hpfp is the culprit then.
*
i think no harm to have a check at workshop .. renautech and bros auto both are good to go ..
they are not pushing one no worry .. will check and tell you what is the problem, how much to fix it, how long the downtime ..
then u decide maybe arrange another day or how ..

hpfp .. i advice to fix it asap la .. before it totally going to limp mode .. then have to tow your car already ..

Mine 2.0 already hit mileage of 200k km

Kena before back in 2019. That time dunno its alternator problem, drove until the car stalled at the road side.
*
is already 200k km ... for me .. i will trade in / sell it and get a new car ...
but for the time being .. fix the current problem first, at least it can drive la ..

then see financial lo, green light then will start looking for new car within budget ..

Problem suddenly fixed by itself not sure how. It has some very very minor jerk now almost unnoticeable unlike the time i posted jerk very bad..

Feel like might be the gearbox mounting
*
my past experience HPFP problem symptom is normally jerking when cold start .. once your car is warm then no problem one ..
i think u can monitor and see ..
