Oh, that's what I saw from thread about chosing UNI for Computer Science but I cant remember where it is. They said some of the lecturers had left and that's why the MMU's QS world ranking by subject (CS) has been dropping since then.

but is there any local private unviersity better than MMU in QS world ranking by subject (CS) ?

I found out that the dean of FCI, Dr.(Peter)Ho Chiung Ching has left MMU. Here is the link of his bio: https://my.linkedin.com/in/peterhocc

People saying that he's the very good part of FCI and now he's not there anymore, the quality of MMU FCI has been decreasing since a lot of senior lecturers had left and etc. I mean, i dont know if that's true or not but it really makes me confused whether it is good or not to go for MMU. rclxub.gif

It is good that you are concern about the quality of the teaching staffs. The thing with unverified or hearsay is that different people will give different story. Senior lecturers or lecturers? alot or some? and what is the period we are talking about? As in all universities, the teaching staffs will change with time. Some good ones leaving, some not so good ones leaving, some good ones coming in, some not so good one coming in. QS ranking depends on several factors too. I am not an industry expert in the field and I don't know much about FCI so I cannot comment on things that I don't know.

Dr. Peter happens to be in my FB biggrin.gif

Another semester, another discrepancy of fees between me and my mates.. all of us are having our industrial training now, me and friend 1 same course IT management, the other 2 is taking AI, yet friend 1,2 and 3 share the same RM2808 amount while mine is at RM3024, as usual, finance division also cannot explain properly why this is happening

Didn't you raise it up with them previously? If the counter cannot explain, request to escalate to the finance manager. There must be a reason to it.

Hi, may I know how much actually is the total fees for 1 whole semester for CS course? I saw some ppl saying that there's hidden fees in MMU. I wanted to know the exact fees, please.

Resource Fee, Student Activity Fee. All informed to students, so not exactly hidden. Other IPTS have them too.

Fellas, I fucked up one of my subjects last semester and now I have to take supplementary for the first time.

I'm confused as to how it works, how many marks are needed to pass supplementary? and does it add up with the subject coursework mark? I got 30% for my coursework.

Does supplementary still follow the same guideline as final exam (need to get more than 40 marks) to pass ?

I know that overall mark needed to pass is >=50

Yes to both questions. Make sure you are aware of the exam procedure as it will be online based this time (unless you are from accountancy).

Good luck

Wait so I'm sorry lol, so basically with my coursework mark of 30% all I have to do is achieve a minimum of 40 marks (24% of 60%) in the finals ? anything less than 40 marks would be a fail right? and would that give me a passing grade which is a C?

im asking a lot because i literally have another big exam on the same day, 30 mins after the supplementary sad.gif

Yes, correct. 30% is strong for CW, just the 40% requirement is a pitfall.

Hello, this is my first time posting on lowyat so not really sure if it's the right thread to post in.
I just have a few questions regarding MMU Cyberjaya

I just registered for this year July 2020 intake, at first I was planning to go for November but people said it was a bad choice to go in November, so I made a last minute decision to go in July. Thankfully it's all online since I'm living abroad and my last minute decision might make me live out on the streets.

1) How has the online learning been so far? Is it doable and how will the exams be? If anyone can share any tips to help for exams or something, I'll be most grateful. (but I don't know when it is loool)

2) If I go there next semester (April), where will be a good place to stay? (Is there some place which is walking distance and safe) How is the living environment in Cyberjaya and can I go to Bandar Sunway often? And is there a lot of food to buy there? What is the approximate budget per month for food and place?

3) How hard is the Computer Science course? I have no background in Computer Science before as I took Physics, Maths and Chemistry in my Alevels. What does the majority of people choose for their specialisation?

I heard a lot of people say it's not easy to graduate from MMU and I just wanna know how hard is it? In my class, I'm just usually an average student but I took a gap year after Alevels soo may be a little rusty but I'm willing to learn. I also heard that people going to Japan or Korea for their internship, how hard is it to make it a reality?

4) What are the ratio of girls to boys in Computer Science? Is it easy to make friends? (I feel like I'm being a little bit paranoid here). I'll be going to Malaysia all alone and I don't have friends in MMU Cyberjaya so I'm feeling a little bit scared.

5) Last but not least, I heard that MMU has dress codes, if so what it is?

AND IF THERE IS ANY TIPS YOU GUYS CAN GIVE TO A CLUELESS FIRST YEAR STUDENT? (be it making friends or what to do in class etc) haha, thank you so much.

Hi, welcome to MMU. I will try to answer based on what I know.

1) Online learning has been okay from students feedback. The good thing about MMU is that the lecturers have been exposed to blended learning implementation for years. Since you are doing CS, exams will be fully online. It may be in form of projects, online quiz and/or open book tests.

2) Can't help you there as not familiar with Cyberjaya campus. Search for cyberjaya in this thread for some previous answers by other forumers.

3) Can't help you on this either laugh.gif I think once you start attending the courses in the 1st and 2nd year, you will eventually know what you want to major in.

4) For now classes are online so it may be difficult to make friends. My advice, be active in the online classes. Join group assignment discussion. Just remember that everyone else in your class are freshies too. Where are you from?

5) Refer here for dress code: https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=76555702

Others may chip in on the CS programme. Feel free to post more questions
