I gave them third call, they say it is under promotion and will have to get telemarketer to call only can upgrade
*
Hmm, the TM Sales person actually asked me whether I got call from telemarketing before. In fact I got the call before but declined at first, perhaps that's why they could proceed to process my upgrade.

Yup I said the same thing, I said I got some call and want to consider first previously but they never follow up so I called in again. Then they say they will submit a report to marketing team to contact me again. So I think no choice gotta wait for the telemarketer to contact me now
*
That's weird. I did my upgrade via the TM Sales only earlier this month. Perhaps the sales team no longer have promotions now, only have to wait for Telemarketing...

They just gave me a call to upgrade with retaining free calls, so fast, yesterday submit today call dy, now wait for email confirmation
*
That's great. Should take about 3 working days.

Remember to reboot your router upon confirmation. And do your speed test over wired connection.

1. My DIR-615 router on 802.11b/g mode could not transfer more than 25Mbps(+/-) even when .11g mode can support throughput up to 54Mbps
*
Do take note that 802.11g 54Mbps bandwidth is the theoretical maximum. In practice, you are lucky if you get 50% of that, so the 25Mbps you are getting is acceptable.

QUOTE(domingo01 @ Sep 22 2015, 09:43 PM)
guys,is it normal to get high ping in game when someone watching hyyptv?
*
QUOTE(FaezFarhan @ Sep 22 2015, 09:46 PM)
From the tm guy in my local tm point, they said Hypptv doesn't interfere with the default 30mb plan (or whichever plan you're using), it uses an extra 8mb internet from tm. Not sure if it's true but when my hypptv is running, speedtest will still get full speed.
*
HyppTV does NOT affect the bandwidth & ping of your Internet access.

Let's say you are on UniFi 30Mbps, your port will be capped at 50Mbps download and 10Mbps upload. The limit of 30Mbps/5Mbps is controlled at your user account, not on the port. HyppTV will use a maximum of 8Mbps and there is still a balance of 12Mbps download speed on your line of which VoIP will use a small portion of it.

However, from what I understand, crappy routers might affect your speed & ping when your HyppTV is on, but that is because the crappy router could not handle the heavy load of packets for both Internet access & IPTV streaming.

I'm not using crappy router, but after switching to this so call VIP30, slowness happen more worst than before VIP10.

TM has put a lot of effort hide around ppl on speedtest,    if you choose connect to any MY/SG test server, you would get full, while you connect to ANY US/CANADA/EU/JAPAN server, the slowness is obvious at only max 2~3Mbps instead of what I see on MY/SG 30Mbps
*
Well, I guess you better get TM to check.

About speedtest to overseas servers, well, with the international bandwidth being shared by thousands of users, it's rather impossible to get the full speed per TCP connection. This is a known fact and we all just gotta live with it. However, if you are using download managers or P2P, if you can max out total download speed at 30Mbps (or 3 MB/s), then your connection is actually fine

wau..  you expected to get full speed to international..  no ISP in the world can guarantee the international speed for consumer package (as I know).  the international is sharing..  the ethernet is best effort technology..
*
It may work if you are downloading on multiple connections, all add up you might reach the max. But if over just a single connection (same thing applies to speed test) then no way of course.

For UniFi 30Mbps, tt is possible to get optimum speed to some parts of South East Asia and East Asia such as Vietnam, Taiwan & Japan.

However, the bottleneck seems to be the links from East Asia to US where we are most likely to get lower speeds to US.

Just ran a test.

My VIP5 speedtest result to a server in San Francisco seems to be good.

Especially the ping time. smile.gif

Hmm... perhaps 15Mbps is the best one can get to the US.... So those on VIP5 & VIP10 will have no issues getting their optimum speeds.

Tried and no issues with 1080p video on 30Mbps tonight. Btw, I am on IPv6

QUOTE(Moogle Stiltzkin @ Sep 25 2015, 07:21 PM)
no... is getting worse  sad.gif

before no issue youtube. now got, no idea why X_X:

i'm just not getting the full download capacity or even 80% of it for my internet traffic.
*
QUOTE(raynman @ Sep 25 2015, 09:04 PM)
How come like that?

I am on entry-level VIP5 and I can stream Youtube videos at 1080p@60fps smoother than butter.

The incoming video stream is coming in at approximately 4.5Mbps and yet my lowly VIP5 can cope without buffering and stuttering.

I use HomePlug instead, at least for laptops & desktop PCs.

Crowded with AP is one problem, and yeah, the range of 5GHz signals are shorter.

Alternatively, you can consider HomePlug with wireless extender.

aha. okay but dont know when i'll get back if i send for warranty claim hahaha.

wdr4300 is dual band. 5ghz signal weaker compared to 2.4ghz  sad.gif

5Ghz signal penetration is weaker than 2.4Ghz. It's really useful if your location is very congested. tongue.gif

Mobile telcos will not give us any unlimited quota at full speed anymore. They are already losing revenue from voice calls & SMS.

Maxis in particular is very expensive for all their mobile data plans, and topping up quota is so expensive today.

I guess this is a result for them giving you "unlimited" data but with speed throttle at 64kbps after your full speed quota is used up. They no longer can earn the metered charges by kilobyte.

QUOTE(fruitie @ Sep 29 2015, 05:30 PM)

Anyone can suggest me router model that best fit Unifi 30?

I am using it with Asus RT-N12HP.

You can also go for Asus RT-N14UHP or any of the other higher-end models from Asus.

Better still, try pinging your default gateway (192.168.1.1 if you did not change it), i.e. your router using both wired & wireless.

Let's say using wireless, pinging default gateway results in a very high ping, >100ms or even timed out, but no such issues with wired, then it is confirmed is the wireless issues.

hello there,

i am experience a weird situation and would like to know if there are similar cases out there and is there a solution to this

just got my unifi (transfer from terrace house to condo , hence modem change but router (d-link) remain the same ) . Everything is ok except, my handphones when connected to the wifi, is unable to download what app images , but messages come thru with no problem. I have even tried to sit in front of the modem to get max signal strength but the problem still happens.

i am facing this only now as this never happens when i was in my terrace house and its the first time it happens to me. Anyone has a solution to this?

thanks in advance

try run ping www.google.com -t BY USING LAN and WIFI, both!

if u getting packet lost on BOTH, den call TM to reset ur port, IF packet lost on WIFI den its the wifi issue, ur place a lot neighbor using same wifi frequency which will be interfere with other same frequency. So try change to either channel 1 or 7 or 6 or 11.

if still same issue den change better router issue. Which is AC and DUAL BAND type.

If changed better router den still same issue den its cable outside ur house issue and call TM to ask technician come to check.

Nothing from your end, this needs technician to fix it outside of your house.
I faced this too when I upgraded from VIP 5 to VIP 10, only upload speed was upgraded but not download speed. It was like for 3 days before it was successfully fixed. I requested TM to waive for me those days because I didn't enjoy the real speed. I got waived in my next bill. thumbup.gif

I was so worried that it will happen again when I upgraded to 30Mbps but luckily nothing happened, all went well. biggrin.gif
*
2 years back when I upgraded from VIP5 to VIP10, TM also miscapped my port for upload speed at about 6Mbps. But since it is upload, I didn't bother to report and stuck with that speed for 2 years until recently they reconfigured all ports to support the 30Mbps package. But now I am on 30 Mbps, checked my modem and noticed that the download is capped at 50Mbps, upload at 10Mbps (At the port)

UniFi 30 Mbps: RM169
HyppTV Pack: RM60
TOTAL: RM229
Add GST 6%: RM242.74

Of course there is also pro-rated charges when you first upgrade. Perhaps this explains??

but you have to ensure the hypptv connected to the router port specially for it lol, in case you swap the port before, then it will eat your bandwidth biggrin.gif
*
don't think it will eat any of your bandwidth because if you plugged in the HyppTV STB to the wrong port, the IPTV service will not work at the first place.

hypptv stb can use wifi to stream also, why plug in other LAN cannot work  shakehead.gif

Due to VLAN tagging at the ports. HyppTV is configured to operate on VLAN600, and that one particular port has been tagged VLAN600, so you can only use it for HyppTV and nothing else.
