So I checked out the Shah Alam COE, but it has really bad reviews. Mostly of the past few years, some of this year. Has any of you been there recently? Are they still slow and lazy as these reviews on foursquare say? I hope they've improved. sad.gif

I don't think it's bad intention either. In general I have always changed my car's engine oil every 5-6K km. It prolongs your engine's lifetime by having fresh and clean oil. Also RM 150 is not that much or that bad to change every 5 or 6K, IMHO. Overall, it will not hurt your engine, and without evidence I would say it will even improve it's performance in the long run, as in, healthier engine for a longer service cycle.

my two cents

With all due respect, that is not the issue here. SC are supposed to be consistent with what hq has standardize ie 10,000km service interval for all types of eo as per manual and wecare.

Example i gave sometime back was when i serviced my avanza, which for the first 2 years was using "toyota" mineral oil. All the toyota SC, be it in kl and subsequently when i moved to jb, tells the same thing ie 10,000km service interval even when using mineral oil. They guarantee no significant drop in performance unless constant extreme usage. Consistent storyline by different personnel within same SC and across different SCs.

Proton SCs are proton's mouth piece. Giving differing info compared to wecare and even the manual, thus making customers confused, does not do any good to proton. Again, communication and possibly enforcement of information given is lacking.

Though I agree with the part that says follow the interval set within the manual, it also says to it depends on how you drive the car. If rough terrain (hills, long distance/high hour) is your daily routine, then IT IS advisable to service it at every 5k. It is in the manual.

Honestly, I would believe that SC's advise to change every 5k KM is only either it's prevention better than cure (They themselves no confident CamPro can go 10k KM) or they find it easy to make money off you as most would probably say RM200 every 5k KM isn't that much anyway.

I honestly believe point 2 as like what many will also say, don't see that happening at any other make/manufacturers (ask customers to change at 5k when manual all says 10k). cool.gif

True true, I agree. It's a matter of consistency here. I think we can agree that this is the main issue, not so much the interval.

Bottom line is, we know what kind of care and what kind of abuse we give our engines and vehicles and it's in our common sense also to take proper care and proper actions depending on how we maintain our vehicles and the conditions that they face daily.

Haha, nice. Thanks, I mean... I will give it a shot and see how it goes, seeing that it's the most simple of all scheduled inspections, I think we should be fine. Considering it's kinda HQ too, I presume any parts or anything else I need should be available readily.

I have normal, cheap, coil mats. They cut them out using my original mats and adding a few centimeters. They seem good enough. If you have some extra cashish maybe you can buy better quality coil mats with the pedal rubber support. My car is manual so the area where the heel of the foot rests is usually more worn off than an automatic transmission one.

I got mine from Sh@rty 5's shop. I took the expensive one as it has warranty and is actually thick so when you put your foot down then you can really feel some form of cushion. It is also odorless. Fits very well as they cut according to their size thus you have extra mat wrapping the sides giving the car a raised up flooring effect.

Edit: he posted images a while back in the club here.

Let's clear something up. If use semi oil during oil change, it's around rm150 for only the first three service. After that needed to add the labour charge of around rm70. The cost does add up to a lot.

Anyway just filled up my second full tank tonight, the fuel consumption is 10.07liter/100km. Thats 80% city traffic, 10% whack throttle and another 10% hilly road 90kmh. Take note I calculate using the proper way, using the trip meter and pump full tank.

I know we've spoken about FC but as I reach the 1k Km mark my FC is getting worse and worse... When I got it, the first day it was on 5.6 l/Km as it progressed, it increased, and now we're on 9.0 l/Km... ohmy.gif This is pretty insane to me rclxub.gif . I have the 1.6 MT. I don't drive fast or recklessly, I am gentle with the engine and the gear, shifting between 2.5k to 3.5 k RPM.

Any other experiencing the same?

I wonder if after the first service it will get better... hmm.gif

Calculate using the Tripmeter and pump full tank method. The on board computer is not even remotely accurate sweat.gif
